Pura Vida Cottage on Chandler Lake

Welcome to the Pura Vida (Pure Life) Cottage with 115 feet of private water frontage on Chandler Lake where time wasted at the lake is time well spent! This charming cottage built in 2020 is available all year long offering an ideal base camp and easy access to Traverse City and surrounding areas for fall, winter, spring, and summer activities. We hope you will make Pura Vida your choice destination!

This cottage offers one bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed, and an open loft with a queen bed and a twin daybed with trundle to accommodate six guests comfortably. There is a full bath on the main floor and a half bath in the loft. Loft is accessible via a beautiful spiral staircase. Cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher, and there is a small stackable washer and dryer. Tall ceilings and an open floor plan make the small cottage feel spacious and allows ease in entertaining and conversing with family and friends.

The cottage has a covered front porch ideal for eating meals, sipping drinks, or relaxing and watching the sunset over the lake. A fire pit with wood on site offers a perfect spot to roast s'mores and top off a meal.

Chandler Lake is in all-sports 44 acre lake and less than 10 miles to Traverse City center. Enjoy all the amenities Traverse City has to offer and return to a quiet, tranquil home. Or hang out and enjoy the lake for a relaxing, rejuvenating experience. The sandy bottom lake offers swimming, boating, and fishing. Cottage provides 2 SUP's, 2 kayaks, and a canoe. There are several boat rental companies in the area that will deliver a boat if you prefer a motorized boat. You will find friendly lake folk who like to hang out at the shallow, sandy area on the north-west side of the lake which is a quick paddle from the cottage.

Summer is a great time to visit, but the cottage is available throughout the year, and is an ideal base camp for year long activities with its close proximity to Traverse City and surrounding areas. Fall color tours, hiking, remote work or school, hunting, winter sports with snow mobile rentals and trails nearby, skiing, spring mushroom hunting, winery tours, and shopping to name a few.

Guests may access all of the property including the lake, canoe, kayaks, and standup paddle boards. Varying sizes of life jackets are also available.
Cottage sits atop a hill so accessing the lake requires the ability to descend and ascend the hill. A rope handrail is provided and near the bottom of the hill there are wood steps. At the top of the stairs, there is a deck with table and chairs that overlooks the lake and is perfect for drinks, and snacks. This property is wooded and there is not a true beach because the land meets the water. The water becomes deep quickly off- shore and young children should be supervised at all times. A ladder is installed at the end of the dock for easy access out of the water for swimmers. There is a sandy island surrounded by shallow water on the north west side of the lake which is a quick paddle away and a great place for kids to play. Traverse City and the surrounding area has numerous public beaches nearby. There is a wonderful playground, tennis courts, and a short hiking trail at the Grace MacDonald park less than a mile from the cottage.

Owners may visit the property to access their boat, or complete yard care, but will not interrupt your stay and will be as least intrusive as possible.

Pura Vida Cottage is located on a dead end culdesac. The public boat launch to Chandler Lake is a short road to the left at the end of the culdesac with the launch on your right. There are homes on both sides of the cottage but generous space and trees between all 3. Neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. It offers the tranquility of a up north lake get away but close to Traverse City with its numerous amenities.

Pura Vida Cottage offers generous on-site parking with room for 3 vehicles or vehicle and boat with trailer. There are great hiking trails nearby and Grace MacDonald park is less than a mile from the cottage, and it has short hiking trails, tennis courts, basketball court, playground, restrooms, and picnic tables.

Pura Vida is a smoke free and pet free cottage.
Cottage is not ideal for very small children who are just beginning to crawl or walk because of the spiral staircase.
A one week minimum booking is required to be in compliance with East Bay Township Short Term Licensing Regulations. Pura Vida STR license # is 008810.
