Welcome to The Esopus House, a vibrant and spacious waterfront retreat set along 200 feet of private shoreline on the Esopus Creek. Tucked within the “golden triangle” of Woodstock, Saugerties, and Kingston, this colorful maximalist home is both stylish and incredibly functional - perfect for families and groups looking for room to relax and play. Guests love the abundant living space, from the two generous lounges (one with a cozy fireplace) to the large dining area and cheerful bedrooms spread across multiple levels. Step outside for kayaking, fishing (the creek has brown and rainbow trout as well as bass, carp, and panfish), hot-tub soaking, or unwinding by the water; the property’s sunny grounds and serene creek views make every moment feel like a getaway.

The crown jewel of the home is the expansive top-floor principal bedroom suite, a serene private haven designed for comfort and indulgence. It features a plush king bed, a convenient in-room wet coffee bar, a crib for families traveling with little ones, and its own sitting area. Best of all is the huge private sky deck, an elevated outdoor oasis perfect for morning yoga flows, afternoon sunbathing sessions, quiet nap breaks, or evening cocktails as the sun sets over the creek. Whether you’re seeking privacy or a memorable shared moment with your group, this suite elevates the stay into something truly special.

This home is ideally suited for those interested in wellness, renewal, and recharging during their stay. Not only does it offer the sauna, the large hot tub, a yoga deck for spring, summer, and fall practice, but guests can order (for an additional fee) a personal cold plunge pod tub. Like all Upstate Place properties, this home has a crib, highchair, baby bath etc. available to make even the smallest guest’s stay welcoming and easy.

RENTAL AGREEMENT: Please know that our insurance, local permitting regulations and licensing requires all guests to sign a rental lease agreement, which will need your full name, email, and contact telephone number. It must be completed within either 48 hours of booking, or at time of booking if you are purchasing a same day stay.

CANCELLATION AND INSURANCE: For added peace of mind, we highly recommend all guests purchase travel insurance, whether through the OTA when offered at the time of booking, or through a third party. Travel insurance ensures you are able to receive reimbursement for a covered event should circumstances arise that prevent you from traveling and many plans cover for unexpected illness, delays, work or weather-related changes. Please confirm with your chosen travel insurance company as to a comprehensive list of all covered events. Please note, we are not able to issue a cancellation, trip change, or refund outside of our cancellation policy and will refer you back to your travel insurance should your trip plans change. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we want you to enjoy a stress free stay.

UTILITY OUTAGES: As Upstate New York can see its’ fair share of inclement weather and is primarily a tree rich area with mostly overhead power lines, please know we do not assume responsibility for utility outages during your stay. If electric, water or Wi-Fi service is impacted, we do not refund. We do keep emergency supplies at the house, and, of course, if an outage were to persist for longer than 8 hours we would allow a cancellation without penalty.

NOISE: A freight rail line is <.5 miles from the home. Warning horns and associated noise may be heard. Cargo freight is mainly moved during the week with little to zero activity on weekends. However, hosts cannot control timetable or noise of the trains. Noise machines are at the home for light sleepers.

WEATHER: During the winter months there may be ice, snow, and hazardous conditions. We recommend driving a vehicle with AWD or 4WD. We are in the mountains so anything is possible! If snow or freezing rain is forecast, it may be prudent to bring chains for your vehicle. Most driveways are plowed at or before 3” or more accumulation but we cannot guarantee an exact time for the plowing as the crews are often unreachable and out of cell service areas for much of the day. We do supply snow shovels and pet-friendly salt at each of our properties for extra safety.

FIRE-PIT: The outdoor fire-pit is available in spring, summer, and fall. In winter, there may be times when it is fully covered in snow. Unfortunately, because of safety rules and regulations, we need to position our fire-pits some distance from the house and it can be very hard to dig pathways to the fire-pit for safe access. We therefore do not guarantee that our fire pits will be available to guests during the snowy winter months.

TRAVEL INFO: As we do not give weather related refunds, it is advisable to keep yourself updated on weather conditions via 511NY, which offers real-time traffic, transit, weather, and travel info for all commuters, tourists, and commercial operators across the whole state via phone, web, and app. It`s New York`s official system for up-to-the-minute road conditions, incidents, and travel planning for every region.

PRIVACY: Guests have full and unhindered access to the property in its entirety, with the exception of certain locked closets, basement areas, or garages - if applicable - that the owner may have secured. We want all guests to enjoy uninterrupted time at the home, however, there may be visits from seasonal maintenance staff for essential exterior tasks such as mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool, pest control, or plowing. While we try to have them visit in the short periods between guests, this is very often not possible, especially during the hectic summer months or because of adverse weather. They will never need to be inside the house without your authorization, but they may need to be on the exterior of the property itself.`

We had a wonderful stay and this home was perfect for our girls’ weekend away. The location was great - close to everything we needed but still felt private and relaxing. The amenities really made the trip special, especially the hot tub and sauna, which were a huge hit.The house itself was very clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. The hosts were also very responsive and easy to communicate with, which made the whole experience seamless.Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend!

Long weekend in the Catskills

House is immaculate, recently renovated and so well done. Furnishings are beautiful and they have every amenity you could ask for. It was so easy working with property managers who were so accommodating. Couple of things just to note: while house sleeps 14, there are only 2 bathrooms (listing says 2 full and 2 half which would be ideal!) And, outdoor seating does not accommodate 14 people. Great time had!

This house was a little piece of heaven tucked away on the Esopus Creek. The house provided 2 paddleboards and 2 kayaks, all of which we used.At first glance, the creek is not very inviting because of the algae, but when you get to the middle of the creek, it is very clear.There is also a hot tub, ping pong table and lots of games.The house was nicely decorated and plenty of room for 10 of us. Kitchen had plenty of dishes, glassware, and utensils.There were multiple areas to just sit and relax - and a nice long table for meals.We visited Saugerties, Kingston and Woodstock - all of which were 20 minutes away.I would highly recommend this place.
