My Wife and I found the apartment quite easy using the supplied maps etc. When we arrived we text the owner, Jocelyne, to let her know that we had arrived and she was immediately at the door inviting us in.
The apartment is compact, but being a studio you wouldn't expect anything else.It is though very well laid out and has everything in it that you need. Bed, Dining room and kitchen. The Kitchen is fully loaded and the fridge was stocked with "Welcome Goodies" even homemade preserve, which smashing. table and chairs in the dining room and a good sized double bed, that was a powered version.
The separate bathroom is very well appointed with all new, I think, fittings and the walk in shower is brilliant.
The owners, Jocelyne & Georges who also live on the premises, are two of the most chilled and laid back pair it has ever been my honour to meet and were excellent hosts.
The apartment itself is right in the heart of the city with everything you want within a short walk. DON'T forget to go to the daily market which is both inside and out most days and the added fish stall which is there on a Wednesday, are a delight.
My only gripe is the parking. You cannot .
A beautiful studio close to the parks, beach and main attractions. Exceptionally clean.
La Rochelle has everything. It was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations. The studio was close enough to everything that we could walk to the town, harbour and beach but far enough away that it was quiet and we were never disturbed. Our only issue was the parking as you do have to pay in the street however there is a free car park 5 mins walk away. This does get very busy and if you are out during the day you may struggle to get another spot. However this meant that we left the car there and stayed in and around la Richelle for the week. Jocelyne and George greeted us warmly and explained what we needed to know. There were some welcome items and Jocelyne left us a sweet treat in the week also! We asked for a couple of things during the week and they arrived straight away. Jocelyne and George were around but we felt like the studio was really private. For things to do in La Rochelle: I donât know where to start? We loved walking around the stunning buildings. The churches, shops, restaurants and bars are plentiful and I guarantee after a week you will find a street you havenât seen before. The harbour is stunning with the display of boats. We hired a bike for the day and cycled to beautiful ile dâre. It is well worth the effort. What a beautiful place. For amateur cyclists like us La Rochelle is a dream as itâs all flat with great cycle paths. We went to the Wednesday market and itâs a typical French celebration of food. Wonderful to wander around and watch how passionate the French are about all things culinary. To summarise we had a wonderful week, you can be as busy or as lazy as you want to be and La Rochelle is a true gem. I canât wait to go back.
