Important: Lake Moraine 2026-2028

The New York State Canal Corporation is rehabilitating the Madison Reservoir Dam. The lake is drawn down 10 feet through 2028 to allow construction. The lake is still a lake — kayaking, swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding all continue, and there is no construction noise at the cottage.

What this means for your stay: The shoreline directly behind the cottage is exposed mud at low water. Lake activities for our guests run from the Colgate Boathouse — a short walk down Frank Road, or a 1-minute drive if you'd rather bring your gear by car. There's a dedicated parking lot. Kayaks, paddleboards, and life vests are stored there, available self-serve. Your view from the deck is still the lake — just lower than usual. THE COTTAGE

Two private bedrooms — one queen, one double — plus a pull-out sofa bed for two more. Two full bathrooms (a real luxury on Lake Moraine). The fully-equipped modern kitchen has a fireplace and dining room that opens to the smaller of two decks.

TWO DECKS

Upper patio-paver deck for outdoor dining, board games (jumbo Jenga, Connect 4), and morning coffee. Lower wooden deck wraps the lake side — chimenea at sunset, hammock under the trees for naps and books.

LAKE ACCESS

A short walk down Frank Road takes you to the Colgate Boathouse, where we've staged kayaks, paddleboards, and life vests for our guests. Swim, paddle, fish — all available, just down the road.

Three miles to Colgate University and the village of Hamilton — Village Green, restaurants, cafĂ©s, shops. Quiet road on Lake Moraine.

Great Hamilton NY Find

Great house for up to 4 people. Right on water with a huge patio & deck along with kayaks to use. Well stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Really great hair dryer in the main bath. Host left a little treat for us and Keurig coffee was complimentary. We stayed 6 days. Only 5 min drive to Colgate University. Would def recommend.

Fantastic family visit

A fantastic space for our winter weekend visit to Colgate. The house was super clean and cozy, with lots of space to socialize and play games while enjoying the beautiful view of the snow covered lake. We will be back!

Great Vacation spot!

Wow! A beautiful, clean cabin right on the lake with ALL the amenities. Our host left us a bottle of wine, water in the fridge, and complimentary coffee. So thoughtful! Everything was as advertised and more - We had a GREAT time on the lake - Having the windows open at night was a plus for us since we are from Florida! Will definitely be back.

Perfect long weekend at this lake cottage

We had a relaxing weekend here with everything we needed. We enjoyed the kayaks and the well-stocked kitchen. Water pressure in showers was great, and we appreciated the labeled electrical switches. There were beautiful views out of the many windows. Highly recommend.

Excellent Cottage on the lake!

Great location, quiet and quaint. Perfect size for a family of 3. Well appointed, everything well stocked and in very good working order. We rented the cottage for our 30th anniversary and we were not disappointed! Very underrated lake and surrounding area. Everything was wonderful! Thank you Christian for such a beautiful place! We will highly recommend this cottage to everyone we know.

Beautiful views of Lake Moraine

This lake house is great! It has everything you need inside and two decks to enjoy the lake. the entire living room has windows to enjoy the view. It was super quiet and peaceful when my daughter and I stayed in April. And it's about a 7 min drive to Colgate and only 5 min to price Chopper. :-) Would definitely stay here again.

Two Trips in One

Perfect location when visiting Colgate University for any reason-- but also right on Lake Moraine, allowing for a beautiful and serene setting in and of itself. The cabin could not have been any more accommodating for our needs- and Christian was extremely responsive. Would definitely recommend for a family of 4 (there's even a pullout couch for a 5th person).

Lakefront Gem in Hamilton

Spent our Easter weekend at the Lake Moraine Cottage to visit our son (student at Colgate) and relax. We achieved both goals and the cottage was absolutely perfect for our stay. Christian was a great host and obviously put a lot of TLC into the cottage. The location was perfect and Christian has the best deck set up. The cottage is very quaint and comfortable. While the lake is small you still experience the serenity of waterfront and beautiful surroundings. The cottage is very well kept with updated kitchen and bathrooms. Love this area, this location and cottage. Thanks Christian

Charming & Cozy

I rented this property for my 2 sons and their families for the Thanksgiving weekend. They thoroughly enjoyed staying in this charming little home, sent me photos and raved about the property in general. The oldest and his wife took a quick dip in the lake, yikes! The cottage is exactly as you see in the photos, nicely decorated with all the amenities you could possibly need!
