Overall good the only problem was the WiFi it's so slow our fire stick wouldn't work and they don't have English TV.
When booking they did tell me about the TV I said no problem I will bring my fire stick as they said they had good WiFi. When you're there for a month you need TV.
We've just spent the last 5 weeks in this very well equipped apartment in Formentara.
Vivian was very accommodating when we had problems with our return flights due to originally booking with Monarch.
It was also really handy having the key holders as neighbours as we didn't check in until late on a Saturday night but this was no problem for Colin or Collette.
We enjoy cooking in sometimes and the apartment had almost everything we needed.
The rest of the time we ate out and Formentara is really well located for this. There are 3 bars 2 minutes walk away, plenty of restaurants in Benimar and Benijofar 5 minutes drive away and we also ate in Quesada many times which is a 10 minute drive.
The apartment is really well appointed, the balcony with sliding glass was great, open during the day and most of the evening but as the nights started to draw in in mid October we closed a few of the panels so it was still comfortable sitting out until the early hours.
The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable.
The pool was great when we arrived but as we got into October it didn't get as much sun as we wanted so we drove to the beaches of Guadamar and La Marina a 10-20 minute drive away.
We drove to Santa Pola one day - 30 minutes and got the boat to Tabarca Island where I spent the afternoon snorkelling.
If you're into markets it couldn't be better placed. We went to Formentara, Rojales and Zoco markets but Torrevieja, La Mata, Guadamar and San Fulgencio markets are all close by too.
We also visited Zenia Boulavard and Las Habaneras shopping malls a couple of times each.
As for day to day supermarket shopping there is a "Super Value" store 2 minutes walk away. Aldi, Consum, "Mas y Mas" and Dia supermarkets 2 minutes drive away. Also Mercadona and Lidl on the way to Quasada. If you need some English foodstuffs there's a small supermarket in "Lumsdens Auctions" on the road into Formentara and there's also an Iceland store just before La Marina.
The weather was unbelievable - 5 weeks and it only drizzled on one day.
All in all a truly wonderful holiday.
Great location, facilities and amenities, lovely apartment in a welcoming Spanish town near coast
Vivian is a helpful and organised host who has created a great apartment with lots of equipment and facilities for the perfect self-catering Spanish holiday. We made use of the lovely pool every day and went to the beach in Guardarmar del Segura several times - please note there is a lifeguard service in operation on this beach and a flag system for swimming because the sea and tides can be very dangerous - we watched a grandfather and son being rescued when there was a only a yellow flag in operation - please take note of all flag warnings. There is a well-equipped supermarket one minute's walk away and we ate at La Tarantella pizzeria one night in the town, which was excellent. The driving in this part of Spain is safe, drivers are courteous and the roads are good. Vivian and Cees have provided lots of great kitchen equipment and chairs and parasols for the beach are also available, which is a great addition. This is an excellent location for children as the pool is well-shaded and the little park is visible from the apartment. An easy half-hour drive from Alicante airport and lots of areas and markets nearby, as well as traditional Spanish and international restaurants. Highly reommended for a relaxing Spanish holiday. Thank you Vivian and Cees :-)
