The house was well-equipped for entertaining, even though it was just three of us usually collapsing after sightseeing and visiting friends. Climate control was modern and efficient, ceiling fans kept air moving nicely. Given that a 200-year old building is bound to have some quirks and peculiarities (e.g., plumbing struggles a bit), the first floor rainshower shower head was awesome. Importantly, the beds were super comfortable. The Winesburg Market/pizza next door was a lifesaver. What a wonderful facility! This was a fantastic experience that cannot be duplicated! Highly recommend staying here!

Winesburg cabin stay

We loved our stay. The house was beautiful. The neighborhood so quaint. We frequented the pizza and ice cream shop right across the street and the coffee shop a couple blocks down. I did read this in other reviews so I was prepared for it and did not count it as a negative
but the house is old and likely not well insulated and was right on the highway so the traffic noise could be loud. This area seems to be a route for large semi trucks. It wasn’t bothersome during the day and we had ear plugs at night
which I would highly recommend or it could be negative. Just be prepared. Also turn on and down the a/c as soon as you check it
once again old house in the summer and heat rises. It took a while to cool down the 2nd story bedrooms (we did not have anyone sleep in 3rd story attic but it was very hot but it did have its own window unit). The first night was warm until it cooled down but was pleasant the rest of the time. I would recommend someone turn down the a/c before guests arrived. Overall great stay and we would absolutely return.

Cozy, Comfortable and Well Maintained

We cannot say enough about our stay at Chestnut Loghouse. Alex & Jean have a beautiful, inviting place and make you feel right at home. The bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Two and a half baths provide space for all. Thanks for a great stay!!

Great Combination of Old and New.

This property is awesome if you want a rustic cabin feel with modern amenities than this is the place for you. The cabin was very clean and the A/C worked good. The bathrooms are nice too. Only have two problems with this place. Route 62 is right outside the cabin and there is traffic all night. If your a light sleeper this may be a problem for you. I would also like to see bolt locks on the side and back doors. We heard people out front of the cabin all night so having that extra layer of security would of been nice. Other than those too things this place is located perfect and a great place to stay.

Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the loghouse. It was really peaceful and we loved all the rooms and unique decor. Great location too, right next to a pizza and ice cream shop! Would highly recommend!

Over all satisfied

The property was clean and beds comfortable, there were 2 bedrooms on the second floor and one big bedroom with 3 beds in the attic so if you can’t climb stairs this is not the property for you. The banister to the second floor was very loose and could be a problem for people who really need to use it. Few other small things that needed attention but did not affect our stay. If you plan on cooking there is no grill outside and no baking sheets in the kitchen and very minimal pots and pans. Also a big concern for us was no smoke detectors anywhere. Overall and enjoyable stay though!

no air conditioning the first night, and it was 98 degrees outside. called the # of the person listed, and finally about 8pm the unit had cooled enough to start. the house was 81 and even hotter upstairs, where the bedrooms were. i believe something should have been reduced.. I highly recommend not renting this home in the summer

Chestnut cabin

The cabin was very spacious, beautifully decorated and so welcoming. We met up with friends here. The gem of a store/ice cream shop across the street was such a special treat. This property was also a great location for shopping in Amish country and a visit to Cuyahoga National Park for exploring. Only negative was occasional loud traffic at night. Would definitely recommend to everyone!
