Lake Mich Beachfront-Best View of the Lake Holland / Grand Haven

C'est le paradis sur terre. C'est du moins ce que nous pensons depuis 30 ans. Situé sur une route privée isolée à mi-chemin entre la Hollande et Grand Haven, notre chalet se trouve sur une dune sur la plage du lac Michigan dans une zone connue sous le nom de Port Sheldon. Assis sur l'un de nos deux ponts, vous regardez vers le nord et voyez la jetée de Port Sheldon, l'entrée du lac Pigeon. En regardant bien au sud, par temps clair, vous pouvez voir Big Red, le phare de la jetée de Hollande.

En regardant vers le bas et vers l'ouest, vous ne voyez que du sable et de l'eau, des beachcombers et des bains de soleil, des bateaux Ă  moteur, des jet-skis, des voiliers. Vous l'appelez.

Et comme le chalet est proche du lac Pigeon, c'est un endroit idéal pour amener un bateau. Il y a une énorme rampe pour bateaux DNR pour tout ce que vous pouvez obtenir sur une remorque, et il y a un petit point de lancement public un peu plus prÚs pour les petits bateaux ou les jet-skis. Les deux rampes sur le lac Pigeon se trouvent à moins d'un mile du chalet. Lorsque les vagues sont trop grandes sur le lac Michigan, vous pouvez tirer un skieur nautique ou une chambre à air sur les eaux calmes du lac Pigeon.

Le chalet lui-mĂȘme a deux chambres, une mezzanine et une grande salle de bain. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur les photos, la cuisine, le coin repas, le coin salon et la salle de jeux sont en fait une grande et grande piĂšce. C'est parfait pour une famille avec des enfants.

Mais quand vous y serez, vous voudrez autant que possible ĂȘtre dehors. Peut-ĂȘtre que vous apprĂ©cierez autant l'immense terrasse extĂ©rieure que nous. Nous savons dĂ©jĂ  que vous adorerez la plage privĂ©e. Et les voisins ne s'en soucieront pas si vous voulez vous promener sur la plage - vous pouvez marcher jusqu'au lac Pigeon ou marcher des kilomĂštres au sud en direction de la Hollande.

Lorsque vous souhaitez vous aventurer Ă  l'Ă©tranger, de nombreuses autres options sont disponibles. Il existe un merveilleux systĂšme de pistes cyclables qui vous emmĂšnera jusqu'en Hollande et au-delĂ  ou jusqu'Ă  Grand Haven oĂč vous pourrez profiter de l'un des meilleurs coins petit-dĂ©jeuner de tout l'ouest du Michigan (nous serions heureux de vous dire oĂč il est). Nous le faisons chaque annĂ©e.
Vous pouvez Ă©galement vous rendre au marchĂ© fermier deux fois par semaine aux Pays-Bas et faire le plein de produits frais que nos agriculteurs locaux ont Ă  offrir. Ou si vous vous sentez un peu plus aventureux, un court trajet en voiture vous amĂšnera Ă  notre ferme de myrtilles prĂ©fĂ©rĂ©e oĂč vous pouvez acheter un litre ou deux - ou choisir le vĂŽtre.

Si vous ĂȘtes aux Pays-Bas un jeudi, vous voudrez peut-ĂȘtre assister Ă  la foire de Holland Street, ou peut-ĂȘtre assister Ă  une piĂšce de thĂ©Ăątre au Hope College Summer Theatre.

This home was everything we hoped for and more. Such a beautiful place. The most well stocked kitchen I ever came across in renting. So peaceful and such nice neighbors. We would definitely go back.

Beautiful waterfront oasis!

This property is absolutely beautiful. Both the outdoor area and the private beach are exquisite. I was in awe of the view for my entire stay! The interior of the house is cozy, had all of the kitchen necessities, and was very clean. The a/c worked very well for my entire stay. The location is perfect, with a short drive to Holland or Grand Haven. Steven is extremely kind, quick to respond, and had great recommendations for the area. They provided comfortable chairs down by the beach which came in handy all week. Would absolutely want to come back!

Perfect Location

The house was cozy and clean. It had everything we could want and had a charm to it that was appropriate for it's location. But what impressed us the most was the location. We enjoyed a spectacular view of the lake in peace and quiet. Kids played on the private beach and swam. And when we wanted to go out to eat or do something fun, we had endless choices either straight north (Grand Haven) or straight south (Holland). Everywhere we went was literally a straight line north or south, 10-20 minutes away. Yet there was a great restaurant and a mini-mart within 3 minutes for when we felt really lazy. Lastly, owner was great at communicating with me and answering questions. Just an overall wonderful experience. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Gorgeous view

The pictures don't do it justice. Walking in the door is like being hit in the face with the stunning lake view, and I could sit on the deck and stare at the water all day--in fact, there were days where we pretty much did just that. And the towns of Grand Haven and Holland, both about 20 minutes away, made for great dinner escapes. Owners were terrific to work with. We had to cancel at the last minute due to a COVID scare in our family, and they graciously agreed to keep the place open an extra week after the summer season ended so that we could reschedule our trip. Greatly appreciated!

Serene vacation

Clean and cozy with a gorgeous view! Great location and quiet spot. We stayed with friends who also greatly enjoyed. We had dinner there every night and there was a great grill. Chairs for the beach were great! Only a couple of drawbacks. Despite the wonderful large bathroom, the shower is quite small and can be difficult if you are taller. For a week stay would have loved a washer and dryer. Also I really would have loved some more comfortable lounge chairs on the deck.

Great Location and Relaxing

Just returned from a week stay and enjoyed every minute of it. Cottage had everything we needed and ate all but two meals at the house. Sandy Point Beach House restaurant is very close o the cottage and had a great dinner there. High water level made the beach access a little difficult but owner made us very aware of that at the time of booking. Went to Windsnest Park beach twice, very close to the cottage and then went to Olive Shores beach and Kirk Park beach. Owner of cottage was very responsive and was able to quickly answer any questions we had prior to the trip and once we were there all was good. Would not hesitate to return.

Lovely cottage

Our family of five enjoyed our stay. The cottage was just the right size for a cozy experience. The neighbors are friendly. High water levels and erosion is heart breaking, so beaches are suffering. Owners were great and communicated early and often with us.

You had me at the view

Renting this beautiful cottage in West Olive, Michigan may have been the best decision I've made for my family in these pandemic times. We had a glorious week--paddleboarding on the bayou up in Grand Haven, hanging out on the beach, enjoying dinner from the grill on the deck, and watching the sunset from our perfect lookout spot above Lake Michigan every evening (the same spot where I drank my morning coffee and wrote). The cottage had everything we needed to comfortably and happily make all our own meals (visit the Holland farmer's market on Wed and Sat for fresh fish--the smoked spread is to die for!--and veggies), and as my 16yo noted: "We're more socially distanced here than we are at home!" The owners were friendly, helpful, and completely forthcoming about the fact that the shoreline was ravaged by 2020 winter storms and high waters in Lake Michigan. There are still 88 steep steps down to the water, but the remaining steps have been washed away, temporarily replaced by a step ladder and a knotted rope for rappelling down the final stretch to a beach that was just a few feet wide most days and lined by giant, erosion-stopping sandbags. We went down to the beach once or twice a day to hang out and swim and had the place to ourselves. If you have folks with mobility concerns in your party and the beach is a selling point, this might not be the place for you, but if you're game for a scramble up and down and don't mind chilly water, this could be your dream vacation. Our motto became "Let's never go home"--so you know our family's take on the matter. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Steve and all, for sharing your beautiful home away from home.

Beautiful Views

First off, I have to say that the owners were great to work with and very helpful. The location is great, almost halfway between Grand Haven and Holland. We really enjoyed walking around the immediate neighborhood. There is a lot to explore. The pictures on the listing really do not do the view justice. Really enjoyed the time with young kids and definitely would be interested in coming back.

So Relaxing

This was our second time staying at this cottage and we did not want to leave. It is so quiet and relaxing and peaceful but with Holland and Grand Haven so close for activities and dinners. The 127 steps up from the beach are a good workout!

An absolutely wonderful cottage!

This was our second year staying at this cottage and we absolutely love it. The cottage itself is clean and comfortable and is stocked with everything you need for your vacation. It's centrally located between Holland and Grand Haven and within easy driving distance to anything you need. While there are many steps down to the beach, the frontage actually includes a bit of a bluff, which means that even with higher lake levels, you still have sandy beach for lounging and play. This cottage is terrific and we were so happy it was available for our family vacation.

Great Views

This property has great views and the cabin is bright with a lot of natural light that comes in. Enjoyed being able to get to Holland and Grand Haven easily. Steve was really helpful during the process with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!!

Beautiful setting and perfect sized cottage!

My family of three has now stayed at this cottage two years in a row. The cottage is clean and is equipped with everything we would need for our stay. The location is great being just a few minutes out of Holland. We are spoiled with this private beach and gorgeous views even from inside the house! The family who owns the cottage is great to work with. We can’t wait to come again next year.

A well-maintained cottage with great beach access

We really loved our stay at this cottage! It is really bright and comfortable and our family of four felt very at home. The cottage itself is well-appointed and there wasn't much we needed that wasn't provided. One thing I really appreciated is that the cottage did not have a musty or 'cottagey' smell as so many do. There are also many windows to open to let in the breeze; we hardly needed the air conditioning at all. The two main floor bedrooms are both good sizes and the loft provided a great sleeping alternative with a beautiful view of the water! The deck was very nice and having a good working gas grill was an added bonus. The overlook deck offered even more beautiful views of the lake and a nice place to read and enjoy our coffee in the morning. The private beach is really the jewel of this rental, though. While there are more than 100 stairs to get down to it (and to go back up later!), it is well worth it! The beach was in great condition - the sand did not have trash or embedded lake grass. The only issue we had were some aggressive sand flies and sand beetles who seemed emboldened by our bug spray but we used a fogger the next time we went down and they all left us alone. For our family, the lack of a washer dryer was a bit of negative, but they did provide very nice bath and beach towels for our use. We had a couple questions during our stay and they texted us back immediately, which we really appreciated. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to return next summer. We feel like we have found an absolute jewel!

Wonderful house!

Our family stayed at this cottage last June. It was the perfect location and size for our family of 3 (we didn't even use the loft though). The house was very clean and provided all of the kitchen essentials for our meals, linens for bedrooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space to play. The private beach was a huge plus for us! Not all of the houses along that stretch had beach areas due to the grass, but this one had a space for chairs and playing. Altogether it was a great experience and we will definitely return to this house.

Wonderful Michigan Vacation!

This was our first trip to Michigan and we fell in love. You can tell the owners take care of the property. It was very clean and had lots of little things you may need while staying in a house - especially in the kitchen - which was great. We were so glad we opted for this house on the lake instead of something in town. You can get to Grand Haven, Saugatuck and Holland (we did all three) very quickly. This property allowed us to feel more relaxed and have some great beach time. The private beach area was perfect for our 6 and 4 year olds. Not all the houses had one. Lots of steps to get to the beach but the kids had no issues and frankly my husband and I need the exercise. The views are stunning and every sunset was incredible to watch from the overlook deck. I loved that the whole front of the house had sliding windows so the air could move thru and I could see the views at all times when we were inside. They have air conditioning but we never felt the need to turn it on. We opted to have the kids sleep in the bedroom downstairs vs. the loft since the steps are somewhat steep and my daughter has a habit of getting up in the night. It worked out fine. And the loft was perfect for the kids on a rainy day to watch movies on the iPad, read books and color. They loved it! My husband is over 6 ft tall so the shower was a little bit of a challenge for him as it is a little small but in the grand scheme of things it was 10 minutes of his day. All the other wonderful things about the house and the area were far more important! We plan to return again!

Amazing getaway on Lake Michigan

Perfect getaway for my husband and I with our 8 week old baby! The Deur family was so welcoming and provided lots of helpful info on things to do in the area. You can tell they put a lot of thought into ensuring all of their renters feel right at home during their stay! We loved having the private beach area to set up our tent for baby and chairs for the day. The location felt very secluded and quiet, yet was only a 20-30 minute drive from several amazing towns like Holland, Grand Haven and Saugatuk. The water views from the cottage were unlike anything we've ever seen-the sunsets were especially breathtaking! We felt so fortunate to have found this gem and hope to stay again in the future!

Perfect Beach Vacation

Lovely property with everything needed to spend a week at the beach. In addition, this house is very close to Holland which has a fabulous market and really cute shops and restaurants. Our best Michigan experience to date.

I am not sure where to begin, but during the reservation process, the owners were very responsive and prompt with communications. We had a late arrival and they were willing to make accommodations for us. But once we arrived, everything was as advertised. The amenities, the home and the beach. Weather was great for us, so we took advantage of the beach and water time. The home is located between Grand Haven and Holland, making quick trips to either was not a problem, in fact it was great. It is kid friendly, tons of activities, bike trails, etc. We will be reserving this home again. To the hosts, thanks for providing such a wonderful home for us to stay in.
