Welcome to the DC History Den, your bright and cozy home base in the city. Enjoy a private entrance, free off-street parking, and fun DC-themed decor that brings the city to life. It is a relaxed, comfortable space perfect for long stays.
If DC is serving as your temporary home, you should learn a little about the history while you`re here! In this apartment, the walls are filled with framed photos of people, places, and things that have played a role in DC history. Each picture is labeled with a number that corresponds to a page in the book I`ll give you, which will briefly explain its historical significance. In addition, you will find reading materials, puzzles, and more that share the incredible story of Washington, DC. Don`t forget to sign the DC-themed guest book before you leave!
This basement apartment has the following amenities to make your stay AMAZING:
- Private entrance in the back of the house
- Washer and dryer in the unit
- Smart TV with Netflix, etc.
- 5G Wifi access
- Full security system with cameras, motion detection, and entrance monitors
- Kitchenette supplies including a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, air fryer, blender, plastic utensils, paper bowls, cups, coffee, drinks, and snacks
- Central heating and cooling
- Dedicated desk for working
- Bathroom with studio lighting mirror
- Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wash, and lotion
- Clean towels and bed linens
- Closet space with hangers provided
- Dresser for clothing storage
- Full-length mirror
- Convenient bedside phone charging
- Air mattress
- Shoe rack/bench
- Yard access w/ sitting area
- Just 1 block from a bus stop and 1 mile from a Metro train stop
- Lots of lighting, including a wall lamp, a standing lamp, motion detection lights in the doorway, and lights in the backyard.
- A `shelf of amenities` that gives you access to everything you might need, including snacks, plates, cutlery, a first aid kit, a toolkit, drinks, toiletries, and much more.
Additional Notes and answers to FAQs:
1) I have a 12-pound dachshund who thinks she is a 100-pound guard dog. She is a barker, and you WILL hear her barking. If she encounters you, she will bark, but she is all bark and no bite! She`s never bitten anyone. She will not have access to your apartment.
2) This is a basement apartment, so you will hear people walking above you occasionally. However, the person living above is very quiet. You can text me at any time if there is too much noise. Also, because it is a basement, you may or may not see a spider. I have provided nontoxic spider/bug spray in the unit. The entire house has also been professionally treated to prevent bugs.
3) Marijuana is legal in DC, so you may smell it coming from neighboring houses or the street. There is NEVER any smoking of any kind allowed in the house or in the backyard. A penalty fee of $1000 will be assessed for smoking either in the apartment or the backyard.
4) There are 7 stairs you have to go down to access the apartment. This is not accessible to people with mobility issues.
5) Check-in is at 3 pm or later. Check-out is 11 am. If you stay past 11:30 am, you will be charged $10 per hour for your extended stay. Early check-in is also available for $10 per hour on days when other guests aren`t checking out. I have a lot of back-to-back listings, which is why I have this policy.
6) This basement studio apartment is about 500 square feet.
7) DC is a very racially diverse place. If you are uncomfortable with that, you shouldn`t come visit us!!! I include this note because, sadly, some of my guests have had issues with the racial makeup of my neighborhood. I love living here and have never had any problems, personally.
8) The listing price is for ONE guest. Adjustments apply for an additional guest and pets.
9) Do not leave any valuables in your car
10) Please note you do not have access to the front of the building, only the back, where your private entrance is :)
11) If you are a long-term guest, I will need to arrange times to go down to do laundry occasionally. I will always coordinate this with you. I will never go downstairs without your permission.
This space has it`s own entrance and dedicated off-street parking space. You will be given specific instructions on how to access the space. Self check-in is available.
I am available to guests when needed, but I will give you your privacy by default.
This apartment is situated in up & coming Marshall Heights
You will have a private off-street parking spot reserved just for you. Free street parking is also plentiful.
Check-in is at 3 pm or later. Check-out is 11 am. If you stay past noon, you will be charged $10 per hour for your extended stay. Early check-in is also available for $10 per hour on days when other guests aren`t checking out.
Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am. You are welcome to use any of the apartment`s amenities during your stay, but please don`t take anything with you when you leave.
No smoking allowed inside or in the yard. Smoking will incur a $1000 fee.
Please do not wear your shoes on any carpeted area.
