Avid walkers can wander down to the canal, less than 0.5 miles away, or join the well-trodden, waymarked route of the Trans Pennine Trail (400 metres). Moore Nature Reserve (6 miles) is also brilliant for eager ramblers and boasts a number of bird species, including the bittern and lesser-spotted woodpecker. Nearby, Walton Hall and Gardens (5 miles) is sure to entertain little ones, while the lively and bustling city of Manchester (21 miles) is a must-see for keen shoppers.
