Obsidian House is Hideaway's most amenity-loaded property — a newly built 4-bedroom desert retreat on a private acre in Joshua Tree, designed for groups who want to never run out of things to do. Pickleball, bocce ball, mini golf, a yoga deck, a stargazing dome, a sauna, a pool and spa, a game room, and an outdoor TV lounge — all on one property, just 10 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park.



The Space:

Built in 2025 with no detail overlooked, Obsidian House pairs sleek modern architecture with a layout built for groups. Four king bedrooms — each with its own smart TV — give every guest a private retreat. The primary suite and a junior primary suite each have their own ensuite bathroom, meaning two couples or two families can have full privacy without sharing. A dedicated game room — pool table, shuffleboard, three arcade machines, a fitness corner with dumbbells, resistance bands, yoga ball, and floor mirrors, plus a sofa bed — and a living room sofa bed add two more sleeping options beyond the bedrooms, keeping the house flexible for larger groups.



The kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet cooking, with an open layout that flows into the living and dining area — the kind of space where the group naturally gathers. Step outside and Obsidian House shifts into full resort mode: a luxury pool and spa, pool cabanas, a sauna, a pickleball court (equipment included), bocce ball, mini golf, a yoga deck, a stargazing dome with lounge chairs, an outdoor dining set, a BBQ, and a dedicated outdoor TV lounge.



Whether it's a competitive pickleball match before breakfast or a slow morning sauna session, this backyard has a version of the perfect desert day for everyone.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW



CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT — Check-in is 4:00 PM, check-out is 11:00 AM. You'll receive your smart lock code via automated message 3 days before arrival for your records — the code activates at check-in time and remains active for the duration of your stay. Late check-out beyond 20 minutes is subject to a $200 fee; beyond one hour, a half-day rate applies.



EARLY CHECK-IN / LATE CHECK-OUT — Stay a little longer and add up to 2 hours before or after your arrival for $75/hour, subject to cleaning schedule — message us to check availability.



PARKING — Up to 6 vehicles in the driveway. Please do not park on the street to avoid ticketing or towing.



DELIVERIES — We are unable to accept packages at the home. Please plan accordingly and use a local post office hold or nearby package locker service.



PHOTO/VIDEO & COMMERCIAL USE — Guests are welcome to take photos for personal use — feel free to tag us @visithideaway. Commercial, professional, or revenue-generating photography/videography requires prior written approval and is subject to production fees starting at $575/hour. Any commercial shoot conducted without prior approval will result in reservation cancellation and a $5,000 violation fee. Drones are not permitted. If you are in any doubt whether your shoot is commercial, please inquire first.



POOL & SPA — Spa heat is included with your reservation. Pool is heated year-round upon request with 48 hours notice ($180/day May–Sept, $250/day Oct–April). Pool heating is available for a maximum of 5 consecutive days per stay. Please shower before use. No soap or liquids in the spa. Pool service occurs Mondays and Thursdays, 8am–2pm. Anyone under 18 must be supervised while swimming. No diving. No glass near the pool. Guests are responsible for their own safety.



SAUNA — Please shower before use. Anyone under 18 must be supervised while using the sauna. Guests are responsible for their own safety.



PETS — Pets are welcome with prior disclosure, $100/pet (max 2). Pets are not permitted in the pool, and for their own safety around desert wildlife and cactus, we ask that they stay leashed and supervised while outside. Please dispose of any pet waste.



MAX GUESTS / EXTRA GUESTS — This home accommodates up to 12 guests maximum. All visitors must be disclosed and approved before arrival. Daytime visitors must leave the property by 9:00 PM per San Bernardino County STR ordinance. Any unapproved overnight guests will be charged $200 per person.



NO PARTIES OR EVENTS — Obsidian House is a private residence and does not permit parties or events.



SMOKING — Not permitted inside or within 15 feet of the property. Please dispose of cigarettes in the outdoor trash. A $300 cleaning fee applies if violated.



PLUMBING — All Joshua Tree homes run on septic systems; only toilet paper may be flushed. Misuse resulting in clogs incurs a $200 repair fee.



SECURITY — Exterior security cameras are present at the front and back entrances per insurance requirements.



WILDLIFE — We're in the high desert — occasional sightings of insects, mice, and the rare snake or spider are part of the territory. Let us know if you'd like help safely relocating anything.



Guest Access:

Guests will have full, private access to the entire property during their stay.



The Neighborhood:

Set on a private acre in Joshua Tree, Obsidian House is about 10 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, where you can hike, rock climb, stargaze, and explore the park's iconic desert landscape. Downtown Joshua Tree's shops, cafés, and restaurants are a short drive away.



Getting Around:

You will need a car, but rideshares and taxis are also readily available.
