Luxury Lakefront Cabin

Bearfoot Lodge at Nantahala Lake is a quintessential vacation destination. The lake is pristine and the views are picture perfect. Our spacious 5 bedroom 3.5 bathroom log cabin comfortably sleeps 16. It is ideal for reunions with extended family or a summer vacation with close friends.

This water front property is equipped with everything you could want in a summer retreat. While white water rafting, gem mining, and the Appalachian Trail are all nearby, you may find that there is no reason at all to leave. The open concept kitchen is well appointed and capable of feeding large groups. The cabin is newly remodeled with family entertainment in mind. There is ample space for guests to spread out and enjoy fishing, canoeing, billiards, and family games both inside and outside. If you prefer to kick back and relax you will be hard pressed to find a better spot than taking in the view of Nantahala Lake from the hot tub. For those who want to stay dry, enjoy some good conversation and gooey S’mores by the outdoor fire.

Our family has traveled the world extensively but has visited Nantahala Lake yearly since our children were young. We started out making it a family vacation but soon felt like we needed to share this experience with our extended family. Over the years we visited various homes on Nantahala Lake and made a mental list of what were the best features of each property. Then we set out to purchase a place of our own that had all of these attributes. One that we could enjoy for years to come and share with our guests. As the saying goes, “Life is short and the world is wide” but we keep coming back to Bearfoot Lodge at Nantahala Lake because it doesn’t get better than this.

This house did not disappoint! Clean, beautiful, spacious. Great spot on the lake. Stone steps down to lake a little tricky for our older family members. Kayaks provided were thoroughly enjoyed. Would stay again.

Annual family vacation

We had a group of 15 people, 8 adults and 7 children ages 8 months to 13 for a week at Lake Nantahala. This house was well equipped and accommodated our group nicely. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and boating. Everyone had a great time.

Our 1 week stay at bear lodge was wonderful. The cabin was perfectly equipped for our large group. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. the kitchen was also stocked with all the essentials. DJ was a wonderful host who communicated throughout our stay. Incredible views and comfortable home. Would recommend to anyone!

Family vacation 2024

Our stay on Lake Nantahala at DJ’s luxury cabin was very enjoyable. In addition to a very spacious home, many water “toys” accompanied the property. It was nice having a dock as our kids rented a pontoon boat for the week. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, the spectacular views, and the well stocked kitchen for our large family. A memorable week was had by all!

Top Notch All Around

We searched for a lakefront property all over the southeast to take our kids for their spring break. This was by far the best property we've ever found on VRBO...it's an extremely beautiful and clean cabin on the best lake in the Southeastern U.S. with the best Hosts you could find. I took my family of 5 with 3 children under six and couldn't be happier with this decision. We will be returning!

Amazing house with an amazing view!

This cabin is even better than the pictures can show! My husband and I rent a cabin every New Years with a group of friends, mostly couples. There was plenty of space for all of us to gather together! The lake and Mountain View is unbelievable. We had one minor issue with a door when we first arrived and the owner was incredibly responsive and got it fixed in no time! The WiFi was better than any mountain cabin we’ve been to. The kitchen is well stocked and there was ample firewood for the inside and outside fire place/pit. We will definitely be rebooking for next year.

Absolutely perfect

Our two family's stayed (Four adults & three children) for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The moment you walk into the house you are greeted with stunning panoramic views of the lake and the mountains. The house is equipped with every detail that you could need. They even had little packages of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores which we enjoyed at the fire pit almost every night. The kitchen was very well appointed. The kids loved the bunk beds and they even had a pack and play for our 6 month old. The lake toys in the garage came to great use and the kiddos loved catching fish from the dock. Words really can't describe the beauty of the location and the home. A true luxurious mountain log cabin feel. We can't wait to go back and spend more time at the lodge!

First off the setting for the Bearfoot Lodge is stunning, the pictures don't do it justice. The house is fantastic, it is well appointed, immaculately clean and well organized. We held a veterans retreat here and stayed for six days with a total of 12 men, everyone was comfortable and enjoyed every minute of their stay. There's so much to do on the property, from enjoying the beautiful view from the decks, taking a dip in the hot tub or kayaking from the dock. Also, there are a few spots to find some peace and quiet and just relax. The check in and out process was very easy, there's a simple guide provided that explains any detail about the house, directions and area attractions. The owners communicated extremely well from the beginning to the end. I can't recommend it enough, I would absolutely stay here again should the opportunity arise.

2023 Lake Nantahala

This was our 4th trip to Lake Nantahala and our our 4th different house. The Bearfoot Lodge was the best of them all! From the moment we started communicating with DJ until the time we walked out the door everything was perfect. The house itself is amazing, perfect layout, great views, easy water access, water toys, and all the amenities. We will definitely return!!!

Fun mountain retreat!

The house was exactly as described with ample room for our 11 family members. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking large meals. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Nantahala lake was fun for all and the view was breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would love to return. Highly recommend this house for a memorable vacation.
