Relaxing stay

Family spring break trip from Atlanta. The property was super clean and as advertised, Hilda was amazing. We were a little disappointed we didn’t know how big the community was. Tamarindo was a 30 min drive which is basically the closest town, grocery store, and restaurants. You have to drive for about 5 minutes on an unpaved gravel road with a ton of potholes to get to the community and there are speed bumps everywhere to regulate speed. The club was super nice and a lifesaver due to the drive anywhere else. Great trip altogether.

My husband and 2 young boys stayed at Villa Nalu and absolutely loved it! The house was gorgeous and the property and access to the beach club / golf were a treat! We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation!

We had a wonderful time at Villa Nalu! The home was beautiful, the grounds were well kept and the howler monkeys were kind enough to let us sleep in until 5am (haha). It was absolutely amazing to be so close to them and the kids loved it. Thank you Hilda for preparing us breakfast and for keeping us neat and tidy all week. This was our third trip to Costa Rica and by far our best. Thank you to Joel, David and the team for being there when we needed you. Pura Vida! Brian

Villa Nalu

Eight of us, ages 8-74, arrived around noon, which was earlier than the check in time. The hostess was there to greet us, and the cleaners were just finishing up and they let us store our bags and change so we could go off to the beach. The place is just so, welcoming, tropical and very private. It’s very comfortably furnished with an ample kitchen, which is what we needed as we wanted to cook a lot of our dinners. It’s a 5 Bedroom Pl., but we only needed four of the bedrooms. The pool is perfect temperature and is clean daily. There is a six seated golf cart available which we used all the time to get to and from the beach and to and from the Marriott or the beach club for the gym, the pool, the beach, and the snack bar. We did rent two cars which we needed for our various activities
It is a little bit far from Tamarindo , but once we made the trip once or twice, we felt comfortable navigating it and getting into Tamarindo for different activities. We would definitely come back here again. Jose, Mergie and Tati were so helpful before we came and I am sure if we had needed them they would have been right there. Hilda our daily helper was kind and let us practice our Spanish with her.

Property is beautiful with great style and functionality! The maid Hilda as wonderful! Great recommendations for massages, excursions, catering ( we did Pure Vida Catering 3 nights and the chef& food were fantastic-chocolate volcano cake was incredible). Having We golfed, scuba dived, and usedthe local pool club. Unfortunately, the JW Marriott had no availability for any meals or day passes.

Amazing! Didn’t want to leave

The hosts were quick to respond and help with our many requests for suggestions, help booking, even for last minute needs. The house is perfect for relaxing and spreading out. I highly recommend staying within Hacienda Pinilla with the beach club and the Marriott as options. We toured the Marriott but didn’t feel the need to buy the day pass. We preferred spending the $10 entry at the beach club and using that toward their delicious food and drinks. You need to get there fairly early for chairs during peak times. The hosts know all of the best tours m, etc in the area- so instead of searching around yourself- go with their connections. We did a full day tour using expeditions. Carlos was amazing- picked us up and drove almost 2 hours to the La Leona waterfall hike. There were many tour groups there - but it seemed like the guides we were with had some sort of ‘clout’ and expertise and got us places on the hike with expedited priority. Highly recommend. Then we had lunch, and off to tubing down a river. So fun for everyone. He then got us safely home- with a few stops at needed stores along the way so we didn’t have to go back out! We also used an amazing private chef one night at their recommendation. It was delicious- a taco bar by Daniela with Main Course. She was great to work with and stayed within our budget. We also took their suggestion for surf lessons using Nico. He is normally in Tamarindo but came to us at Avellana w/enough extra instructors for our group.

My 40th Birthday celebration

First of all this property is gorgeous and the pictures are on point. Tamarindo isn't too far, about 30 minutes and we were able tonget an uber back one day. We really enjoyed our stay and it was easy to get in contact with any questions we had. Hilda was amazing and so sweet, we ordered the pangas breakfast and she made it all so delicious. We were going on a full day excursion one day and asked if she could make and leave us her yummy rice and beans with the leftovers we had. We didn't have any more beans, but she was so kind to get them for us when she went to the store (we gave her the money ofcourse). We love the fact that a golf cart was included, it definitely helps to get around to the beach club and JW Marriott. The maid service was definitely a plus and the property was very clean. I know it is expected in Costa Rica, all of the different bugs and insects and especially because of the rain. However, the only issue we had was towards the last 2 nights of our stay, in 2 of the rooms there were alot of these bugs which they referred to as ants crawling all over the beds and a pile of them on the floor so the girls ended up sleeping on the couch. Make sure you have tons of bug spray! Also, note that the 2 rooms which are on the outside so you have to walk out of the back door, the restroom shared out there can get a little muggy. Other than that I would still highly recommended this property! Pura Vida!!

Best Vacation ever!

This was honestly the very best vacation we have ever been on! Villa Nalu and its staff were all amazing! The house itself is beyond words! We loved Costa Rica: the food, the drinks, the lifestyle, the people, the beaches! We fell in love with every aspect of the "Pura Vida" life! We have already re-booked Villa Nalu for next year and will definitely make this one of our annual family trips. Joel Martino, Mergie, and Hilda were all great hosts and communication was excellent! Places we visited and highly recommend: 1. Kon Tiki--best pizza and drinks 2. Corazon--Best breakfast/brunch/lunch and smoothies 3. Il Rustico- Great Italian Dinner and drinks 4. Zaguete- Dinner and amazing Smash Burgers 5. Lola's- Lunch and drinks on Playa Avellanas Best beaches were: 1. Playa Avellanas. You can eat lunch, order drinks, and rent lounge chairs/umbrellas at Lola's. Surfing was great here and lessons available. 2. Playa Langosta- Beautiful sunsets and seashells. Take chairs. 3. Playa Avellanas at the Beach Club. Can rest in th epool after a day at the beach and order food/drinks. More secluded and quiet beach. Take chairs. Can't wait to return!!!

Beautiful Home

Great house with plenty of room for myself, wife, and 4 teenage kids. Really nice having Hilda cook everyone eggs, pancakes, and bacon every morning! The house in remote and about 30 minutes from Tamarindo so i highly recommend a car. The golf cart is great for getting around the community especially the beach club or the Marriott.

Beautiful home

The home was beautiful and in good working order . The home was very clean inside and out, Ilda made sure it was clean everyday. Ilda was the best and helped us with anything that we needed. She took her time and showed us how everything worked and we were very thankful for that. She gave us a tour of the house and showed us how to use the PIN codes because we were having issues the day we arrived. The howler monkeys visited everyday and it was a fantastic experience. We had great communication with the host while booking and arrivals. Once in the Villa it wasn’t that easy to reach them and required a few messages on different platforms to get response. Hopefully this will be rectified since we plan to visit agin. There is construction going on all over the community and a new home being built right next door , they start early in the morning but it was not an issue for us since we got up early to go on our adventures for the day. If noise is an issue then request one of the other properties that they own . Even though there were some small issues there is always room for improvement . We really enjoyed our stay and we definitely plant to rent one of the villas again next year .

PHENOMENAL Experience!!!

From the very beginning of finding this beautiful property on VRBO to fighting back tears upon check out, everything was truly incredible. My business partners/friends (group of 8 women) stayed at Villa Nalu last week. I booked this property nearly 6 months prior to our stay. Joel, Mergie and his team communicated impeccably the entire time! Supporting my many requests with scheduling airport shuttles, excursions - catamaran, ATV tour, Ziplining, a caterer to come in to make dinner one evening and renting a second golf cart for use throughout the week. They even supported me the morning of our arrival in coordination of a delayed flight and an airport change for one of my colleagues. Talk about amazing and reassuring!!! The Villa Nalu home is in a safe, gated community on the JW Marriott resort. The resort amenities can be enjoyed by you which is a wonderful addition. When our group arrived to the house, we were greeted (ahead of check in time - which they accommodated for us in a heart beat) by Linda, the house keeper who put away our groceries and prepared us sliced fruit! Linda came every morning to clean for us and cook us breakfast - simply incredible!! The home is absolutely immaculate. Breathtaking views of the pool can be seen from the front door and dining room which offers indoor/outdoor living space. Each shower is outdoor, which we loved! We spent almost all of our time in the pool area and outdoor living. Plenty of space for all of us to lounge and enjoy time with one another. The pool was warm, cleaned daily and they have sprayers for bugs. The neighborhood is safe and we all enjoyed walks and runs each morning. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed from utensils, blenders, pots/pans, cutting boards and baking dishes. The fridge has an ice maker, the patio has a grill and the garage had recycling bins. We we able to launder our dirty ATV clothes upon return to our house instead of putting them in our suitcases dirty. I could go on and on about the house and it's beauty and comfort - it has everything you may need and more to enjoy your time in Costa Rica. And, for me and my group, it was the outstanding communication and support from the home owners from beginning to end that made our trip one of a kind. I WILL be back to this home and Costa Rica because of Joel, Mergie and his team. Big thanks to them for such an enjoyable, relaxing and fun experience. Pura Vida!!!

Walking into the home was impressive from the start! Beautiful setting in a jungle like atmosphere, complete with a howling monkey family greeting us and the day at 4 am. There were some issues: neighborhood construction sometimes started very early, and the house Wi-Fi was out of service for all rooms except the main for 3+ days. With that exception, Joel, Mergi and staff were very receptive and helpful to every request.

Family vacation

What a great home! From the moment we all walked in, we new we picked the right place. Our Host was wonderful, helping us navigate some of the area sites. The beach club was an absolute plus on those days you just want to relax, or staying at the villa, both beautiful choices. We all agreed it was a great vacation!

AMAZING!!!

My whole family had the best time! This house is stunning! I would absolutely go back to this house. Joel, David, and Margie were so helpful in all ways! Our housekeeper was wonderful too. We had monkeys visit the tree in the backyard one day and that was a huge treat. The house is so clean, nestled inside beautiful landscaping. We had a chef one night which we recommend. Our family members enjoyed mountain biking, golfing, surfing and swimming in the ocean. We just loved our stay at Villa Nalu!

Lovely stay

We all enjoyed our time at Villa Nalu. The home’s layout was perfect for whole group gatherings while offering privacy when desired. The golf cart made getting around the community very fun and was a highlight for the children. The beaches were beautiful and nearly empty. Our stay in Costa Rica was very memorable.

Everything was great and the whole crew were very helpful in booking reservations, recommending restaurants, and providing information for things to do. Would definitely recommend for a larger group!

Home Away from Home

I recently stayed at Villa Nalu with girlfriends and had the best experience! The house is beautifully appointed with a full kitchen, spa-like bathrooms, and comfortable bedrooms. It was so easy to settle in quickly and soak in all the beauty of Costa Rica. The Villa Nalu team was incredibly helpful in the planning process, too! From recommendations for food, transportation, and activities, they were quick to answer any questions and even take the lead in organizing something. I will definitely look into staying at Villa Nalu again someday. Pura vida!

Family Vacation

Our time at Villa Nalu was absolutely amazing. The guys golfed while the ladies lounged by the pool/beach. We had the house stocked with groceries and hired Garrett to cater a meal, both were great additions to our trip. We thought we were renting cars, however they ran out so that would be the only downfall. The house is about 40 min from Tamarindo so getting a van to fit 9 to go to town was a bit of a hassle but we figured it out and the Marriott close by was helpful as well.. Overall it was a great trip and Joel was super helpful in helping plan and make accommodations for us.

Villa Nalu and Joel were Excellent

We brought our young kids down for a more adventurous trip. We chose a home instead of a hotel because a week in a room with kids is tight. This place is beautiful. All the amenities of a five star hotel but with the privacy. Joel the property manager was exceptional. He was extremely helpful advising us on places to see and go for great adventures, dining and surf. He really made the trip for us and was always ready to assist. Thanks again Joel and see ya next time!
