Welcome to The Watercolor Cottage! Located on peaceful Stony Point just 3 miles to the village of Suttons Bay, the WCC offers the tranquility of Leelanau County while being close to all the best activities. Inside the house, you'll appreciate quality furnishings, hardwood floors throughout, all new appliances, charming architectural details, two fully updated bathrooms, and two spacious and comfortable bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen plus bunks). Enjoy meals and together time in the open living/kitchen/dining area that centers the home, with multiple seating areas for dining, relaxing, and your favorite games. Provided for your comfort are white noise machines, room darkening blinds, all bedroom linens, bath and beach towels, a smart TV, Sonos speaker, and well appointed kitchen.

Location wise, the Watercolor Cottage is truly unique and offers something for everyone. Step out the front door and walk 3 minutes to the right (East) to find the Vic Steimel Waterfront Park, ideal for rock hunting and a cup of coffee as you catch the sunrise. It's also the perfect spot for morning, smooth water SUP rides. In the opposite direction out the front door, another easy 3 minute walk to the public sandy shore of Suttons Bay for an afternoon or evening swim. The Caribbean blue water and sunsets do not disappoint! We're happy to share a garage full of water floats, sand toys, kayaks and life preservers as well.

When you're ready to get out and explore, some of Leelanau County's best vineyards are within a 15 minute drive, not to mention 7 minutes to Hop Lot, 20 mins to Farm Club, and 25 mins into Traverse City. The nearby Village of Suttons Bay is a vibrant, creative community offering convenient and quality groceries at Hansen Foods, unique local shops, restaurants, bayside parks, a theater, bike and boat rental, trailheads, and much more. We'll be happy to provide recommendations to the best of what Leelanau County has to offer if you desire them.

The WCC is on a peaceful side road, with large yard space and mature trees perfect for hammock lounging. One hammock provided, bring more if you wish! The rear patio offers a large dining table, Weber grill, and outdoor lounge area. Facing west and with beautiful sunset views is the fire pit. Cornhole boards, croquet set, and other yard games can be found in the garage.

We love our neighbors at The Watercolor Cottage, and the serenity that everyone who comes here experiences. In that spirit, we ask that guests are mindful of others and the surroundings so it can continue to be enjoyed by many. In accordance with the Suttons Bay short term rental ordinance, we can accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children. We're unable to accept reservations for more than 4 adults. Loved everything about the cottage! Fit our family of 4 adults perfectly. Quiet location on a side street in a beautiful neighborhood. House was spotless and had a well stocked kitchen. I would definitely return and stay longer.

We had a great week at the Watercolor Cottage and would absolutely return – this was one of the cleanest rentals we've stayed in and was fully stocked with everything we needed. Liz was quick to respond to anything we needed and provided lots of helpful recommendations for the area. The cottage is on a quiet street and feels very private but an easy walk to the water or a quick drive (or bike ride) into Sutton's Bay. The kids loved painting with the watercolors, too!

The cottage was perfect for our family of four. Very clean with everything we could possibly need. The location is quiet and private but close to everything. The owners put so much thought into the details of this home, which we very much appreciated as it elevated our stay. We would love to return!

Fantastic week!

The Watercolor Cottage is so peaceful and relaxing, yet close to Suttons Bay and the many things Leelenau County has to offer. We spent days exploring the area and three of the five nights we were able to walk down to the beach and enjoy the northern lights!! The hosts are very communicative and friendly. Check it out!!

Sutton’s Bay Hidden Gem

Our experience at Watercolor Cottage was fantastic! Cozy beds, clean & updated bathrooms, perfect location, and so many little thoughtful extras. My family enjoyed our stay so much, we will absolutely return next year. Kayaking, daily walks to the water, s’mores on the fire, we stayed busy while feeling unrushed & away from it all. Quiet and Relaxing

If you are looking for a quiet retreat where you can go to unwind and take a break near Lake Michigan, this is it! The location offers two waterfront experiences on either side of the bay which is just a couple minutes walk either way out the front door. One offers beautiful views and a rock shore while the other offers sand. The owner was very quick to respond both before and after our leave and was very easy to communicate with.

Relaxing Up North Vacation

Liz and Chris were great hosts and have a wonderful cottage a short distance from lovely Sutton’s Bay. The close access to two beaches from the house were great for early morning paddles. The house was clean and well stocked. Only small downside was the limited number of windows with screens to be able to enjoy the fresh Up North air while inside. Overall - a great place to stay in a fantastic location.

Spectacular Location

What a wonderful private location. The beach was just a short walk down the street. One of the things that was most fun was taking the kayaks for ride around Suttons Bay. Cute, comfortable, and super clean!

We had an amazing stay and Liz and Chris's home. The location between two public beach access areas gave us plenty of opportunity to explore. The home was beautifully renovated, and was very clean and comfortable. There were tons of toys and books for our son to play with, and he loved trying out a bunk bed for the first time. Everything we needed was there - down to sparklers to play with one evening. We will be sure to stay here again soon!

Charming & Cozy

We loved our stay at the Watercolor Cottage. It's newly remodeled and everything was so clean and new I almost felt bad using the pots & pans. The space is cozy, ideal for a single family. We liked that the location was a bit removed from the popular villages in Leelanau because it was quiet during a busy Fall weekend: biking into Sutton's Bay is very doable, but walking would be ambitious. Will definitely come back because we love this area. Liz was a great host and clearly thought about everything guests will need to have a good experience.

An amazing family weekend - just what we needed!

Wow! What a weekend, what a place! As soon as we walked in our jaws dropped
and my 9 year old said “whoa this place smells so good.” Not only did it smell good, but it’s so beautiful and cozy. The perfect place for our family of 4 to enjoy a long weekend. Every night we enjoyed walking the 5 minute walk to the beach (sand beach and rock beach) to see the sunset and spend hours looking for Petoskey rocks. The cottage is so close to everything so we were able to take little trips to Glen arbor, fishtown, traverse. But even enjoyed time cozying up at the cottage with a book. The beds were so comfy, we all got great sleep (my 4 year old said that she wishes her bed at home was that cozy lol). Our family needed a weekend away, and we’re so grateful to have had spent the weekend here. We’ll definitely be back!

Charming and Pristine!

Thank you to the hosts for providing this charming and pristine home enabling a relaxing and fun retreat! The decorating touches throughout were stunning and recognized! This is a great location to explore Suttons Bay and also superb for the day trips to Leland, Sleeping Bear Dunes, farmer markets and the wineries! I definitely will return and recommend this home.
