Shangri-La est une de sept chambres, trois et demi-salle de bain chalet de plage en bord de mer situé à un mile au nord de Surfside Pier. Cette maison dispose d'une grande cuisine, avec un lave-vaisselle, laveuse, s��cheuse, planchers de bois franc, en bord de mer projeté en porche et terrasse meubl��e, et le chauffage central et la climatisation. Sept t�������léviseurs couleur (c�����ble, un plasma HD 40 pouces) et deux lecteurs de DVD sont également fournis. Personnes comprennent trois roi et un lit double de taille, trois double-doubles sur des ensembles de lit superpos����������������������, et deux ensembles de lit superpos�� jumeau-sur-jumeaux. They only draw back was no lighting under the house, very limited seating inside which made it hard for all of us to gather and hang out together and the plugs were outdated so hard to plug in some items.

Understand what you're paying for - location

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was great - nearby to restaurants, super easy access to the beach, so many activities nearby. This is what you are paying for.The house is not in good repair. Period. End stop. It seems like the owners are trying to get a couple years out of it before tearing it down. The deck and boardwalk to the beach are in good, not great, condidion. It has aged from what is pictured, which is to be expected - but do not expect that new wood. The door to the patio is broken - the screen is ripped and open, the closer is bent and does not allow the door to close completely.The kitchen is tired, the cabinets are worn, have shelves that give a 'dirty' feel to the kitchen. Don't plan on cooking here. The dishwasher is not functional because it is missing a spinner arm. The exhaust fan does not work. Many sliding windows or doors are rotted or not functioning. The roof is in disrepair and a water runs out of a hole in the rooting wood of a soffet for 36 hours after rains.The bathrooms need to be cleaned and recaulked. Mold is in the current caulk. 'Retro' does not give license for poor repair. I would not recommend this property to anyone. I would recommend it be torn down and the rental company drop them to avoid tarnishing their name and reputation.

Reviewer Comments: This old beachfront home has lots of potential, but needs lots of work! Great location, everything worked properly and the visible, interior of the house was clean. We were appalled, however, with the inside condition of the closets and the kitchen cabinets and pantry. Very old shelf paper, dirty, mildewed doors and a roach motel in the pantry. We washed all dishes, silverware, etc. and kept them out on the countertop along with our food. One king mattress is broken down and supported by pillows stuffed in between the mattress & box springs. This house has a nice porch with a beautiful view of the ocean, however the plastic furniture was covered in dirt and mildew. Shangri-la has a lot going for it — great beachfront location with easy access, beautiful hardwood floors, nice furniture, excellent Wi-Fi, TVs in every room, but for the price, I expected it to be better maintained. We won’t rent this house again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful family vacation! Considering we had to sign a waiver on the condition all was exceptionally great. Our expectation was tempered and our experience high! There is some rotting wood, broken screens spots and other superficial items that need attention. Most of the furniture, bedding, beach walk and outside deck are brand new. My three requests would be: mention that the 7th bedroom is also the laundry room, a kitchen fan is needed and FORKS, LOL. Many enjoyed the outdoor shower. It has hot water!! Please, please do not change the super cool 60's kitchen. We would definitely rent this one again!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been going to this area for 10 years and always rent a house on the beach. We waited too long to book this year and this house was the only one left. I called Garden City Realty to check on the house and cleanliness. They assured me it was well kept and would be a good house. Wow were they wrong. The house was filthy. So many things broken. You open the drawers in the kitchen and nothing but dirt and filth. We had to wash everything before using it out of the kitchen. Don’t open the blinds because the dust, dirt, and dead bugs will disguise you. Not enough forks for a family. I believe they had 12 in the drawer. No place to eat inside for a family so if it’s hot be prepared to eat outside. The toilet was broken in the bathroom. Black hair was all over the bathtub walls and above the sink. The two downstairs rooms both had bugs. The bugs would get in your bed at night. The wifi hardly worked. A little TLC to this house and it could be so much better. You can tell no one has taken care of it. We were so disappointed and would never book this location again.

The Joys of Beach Rental

When we arrived at the house and entered, we were met with a laminated sign that read "oven does not work". It doesn't work. One of the maintenance personnel came by Saturday for some reason and I ask about the oven and the exhaust fan over the cooktop. Well, I called Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The young lady on Thursday explained that the exhaust fan never worked. They don't work. The young lady on Thursday was very short. She said that an oven could not be found. That they were going to order an oven.Things that need to be fixed:*Top oven did not work. Sign on the door stated “oven does not work” but no date was on the sign. On Thursday I was told an oven is on order but can’t find one. Why had it not already been ordered when the sign was put on the oven “Does Not Work”?*Bottom oven had to be babied to make it work. It had to be turned off and turned back on about every 5 – 10 minutes to keep it working*Exhaust fan was broken. The man in charge of maintenance had a outside maintenance man come and look at the oven and exhaust fan. The exhaust fan was not hooked up. I asked to get it hooked up but it was not done. I was told it never works but it seemed to just need hooking it up.*Screened porch had holes in the screen*Sliding door was hard to open, lock, and shut*To flush the commode on the side opposite the kitchen, the handle had to be held down.*Commode on the kitchen side of the house wobbled*Commode downstairs was also loose and wobbled and overflowed*Blinds in the back room are missing the poles to open and shut them. Plus, they are bent and in sad shape.*One of the chairs on the deck was broken*Most of the lounge chairs had holes where the back and bottom met*Overhead light in the ocean front bedroom did not work after I had asked for someone

Reviewer Comments: Our family has been staying at Shangri la for over 30 years and we have always enjoyed the property However, this year there were many problems with the property. The top oven doesn't work. The Keurig broke, the TV remote had some problems. Also the window blinds are broken and need to be replaced and several of the lounge chairs on the deck are broken. The alarm went off mistakenly a couple of times during our stay, but that problem was addressed. We hope that some needed updating can be done on the property because we have many happy memories of times spent at Shangri la.

Amazing Porch!!!!

This is a wonderful home, we had 3 families with a total of 13 people and their was plenty of room for everyone! The house was very clean when we arrived! The bedrooms get very hot and stuffy if you close the doors. The porch is the best part of this home!!!!! It is big and had plenty of room for everyone to hang out, but it could use some ceiling fans out there. The biggest problem we had was not with the house but with the beach project :( We went out Thursday morning to a pile of huge pipes right in front of our beach access that we had to walk around the rest of the week! It would of been nice if Garden City Reality would of informed us prior to our check in of the project.

Wish we had known!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked our stay at Shangrila in April, and were quite happy to find a property right on the beach that could host our reunion. However, upon arriving, we were surprised to find out that there was a major beach reclamation project in process, and a MASSIVE stockpile of iron pipes, each 3 feet in diameter directly in front of our view of the beach, and access to it. Once we brought up our concerns that we were not notified to Garden City Realty, we were told that since no active construction was taking place in the vicinity of the property that they had not seen any reason to inform us of this issue. I was more disappointed by the lack of transparency from Garden City than the pipe hindering our beach access, or the fact that construction crews spent the wee hours of our second night of the stay using massive trucks to move the stockpile, resulting in much noise, booming, and beeping, or the fact that the pipeline sprang massive leaks jetting a mixture of water and sand 5 feet into the air at least 3 times during our stay. I would have been happier if they had simply taken the time to let us know. We would have most likely kept our reservation... The property is nice enough. It's dated, but full of charm, and in the end was perfect for our needs. Should we rent a property from Garden City in the future I will be certain to be more diligent in asking if there are any issues with the property or the surrounding area before booking our rental.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Shangri-La was an excellent choice for us this year. The home is not updated or modern but it's very homey and comfortable. Housekeeping could have done a better job but it was relatively clean for our arrival. The beds were great. The screened in porch was a huge bonus and we spent a lot of time on it. One of the burners on the kitchen stove didn't work, however, the double oven was awesome. The view from the kitchen bar is gorgeous and the convenience of the beach is wonderful. Really enjoyed this property as did the rest of our guests. I also loved that it's primarily only one floor (minus the two ground level bedrooms) which was a change from other properties that we've rented. We'd love to rent this place again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very nice older beach house on the beach. The screened-in porch was great. Some of the mattresses were not the best and some of the electrical outlets did not work. Was pleased to find it had wifi, as it was not mentioned in the website description. Overall, very satisfied with the house and would rent it again.

Shangri-La Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Check in was quick a easy. We found the unit not as clean as we had hoped. Although the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean in appearance, there was some grime clearly visible in some areas including the kitchen. We found dead"roach" carcasses in the bookshelf in the main sitting area. We also had a few experiences with live roaches inside the house and on the screened in porch area.For the most part, the accommodations were comfortable. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach and other amenities in the area.The wireless internet router had to be rebooted several times per day because it kept hanging in the middle of internet sessions.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location, very friendly people in the area. Was relaxed and enjoyed the beach at your back door (deck). Was alittle disappointed in the decor of house, it was very dated, but we made of best of it with no issues. Could be freshen up alittle. But had a great week of weather and enjoying the area's resturants and bars. Especially Bubba's in surfside beach on ocean blvd N. 4

Great vacation at the Shangri-la

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed our vacation staying at the Shangri-la! There was plenty of space for everyone, it felt very homey amd the porch is by far our favorite part of Shangri-la. We spent almost every evening relaxing, playing games, and making new family memories on the big porch.

It is just a good old beach house with all of the amenities that we look for in a beach house. There is large screened porch with rockers and eating tables. We ate most of our meals on the porch.
