THE FAMILY REUNION COMPOUND AT OLD COLORADO INN
4 Houses/Cottages (10 Bedrooms, 9 bathrooms), EXCLUSIVE POOL ACCESS.*
The Family Reunion Compound is an off-site (200 feet from the Main Hotel Building) compound of 4 historic houses/cottages (described in detail below) that are located on spacious grounds (approximately 1/2 acre) surrounding a large swimming pool with "Golden Mean" dimensions (44 x 27 foot lap pool) and spa as well as a large manicured lawn and garden. The compound is located just steps away from the scenic Riverwalk along the St. Lucie River and the renowned shopping, dining, and entertainment of Historic Downtown Stuart.
BUILDING #1: The first building in the compound is the Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge which is a 2,500 square foot, 2 story 4 BR, 4 BA home featuring antique Florida heart-pine flooring; a ground floor separate Master Bedroom suite with King-sized bed that contains its own partially equipped kitchenette with dining table, a separate sitting area, and its own bathroom with shower; a second ground floor bedroom with queen sized bed and its own partially equipped kitchenette; a second floor Master Bedroom suite with King-sized bed and its own spacious bathroom with large shower and changing area; a fourth bedroom on the second floor with King-sized bed featuring partial views of the St. Lucie River; two additional bathrooms with showers; a Great Room with a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, large dining table, Island table with additional seating, a spacious sitting area with comfortable chairs and a convertible queen sleeper sofa; a grand Living Room with oversized couches, chairs, bar, and card table; a separate wine bar room with comfortable oversized chairs; a separate sitting area with an additional single-sized sleeper sofa; 4 separate private porches with comfortable outdoor furnishings; in-room washer and dryer; and access to the pool and spa. This Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge was originally built in 1914 by well-known architect Sam Matthews and has been extensively renovated by renowned interior decorator Diane Davant, who lived in the home from 1997 through 2017. In 2018, in order to save the home from being demolished in connection with a proposed luxury condominium development, the owners of the Old Colorado Inn relocated the historic structure to the Old Colorado Inn property via barge along the St. Lucie River and performed additional renovations to the home. In the early 1950's Ralph Evinrude (Chairman of the Outboard Marine Corporation) stayed at the Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge while he was courting the famous movie star, Frances Langford. Evinrude eventually married Langford and the the couple settled down in nearby Jensen Beach and have had a lasting impact on the Treasure Coast due to their generous philanthropic legacy.

Ernest Lyons, long time editor of the Stuart News and author of "The Last Cracker Barrel" and "My Florida" lived in the home from 1937 until his death in 1990. The Ernest Lyons House was originally built in 1890 and has been recently faithfully restored by local preservationist, Dr. Thomas Connelly. The home served as the town's first schoolhouse in 1891; it was the site of the town's first wedding in 1892; and Stuart's first baby was born in the home in 1897.
