Pool table! Waterfront home on Perch Lake outside Traverse City

Escape to the serene Off the Hook on Perch Lake in South Boardman, where fishing, swimming, and relaxation await. This picturesque location invites you to unwind and immerse yourself in the natural beauty surrounding the area. The charming 3-bedroom, 2-bath home accommodates up to eight guests, offering a king-sized bed, two queen-sized beds, and custom bunk beds ideal for kids, teens, and smaller adults. Note that the bunk beds are 70 inches long, slightly shorter than the typical 75 inches.

Amenities include air conditioning, internet, sheets, and towels, though a dishwasher is not provided. A unique feature of this home is its 3-level spiral staircase, adding a touch of character.

For pet lovers, a well-behaved dog is welcome with an additional nonrefundable fee, but owners must be diligent in cleaning up after their pets at all times.

Outside, indulge in a variety of activities, including using the grill, launching boats for fishing (electric motors only), enjoying cozy evenings around the fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub (NOT available in winter). Water enthusiasts will delight in the available kayaks, paddle boat, swim platform, and dock, all set against the backdrop of a lake with a soft sand bottom. Inside, find entertainment in the game room featuring a pool table, a ping pong top, and an electric dartboard.

Situated in the heart of South Boardman, Hazel Sandeen Butler Memorial Park is just a stone's throw away at the intersection of Boardman Road and School Street, where the original South Boardman School once stood. This park is perfect for family outings, featuring a t-ball field, a small basketball court, and a playground, all nestled in a quiet, friendly neighborhood setting.

The hot tub is NOT available in the winter.

Very Nice home, very clean loved the separated areas for kids and adults. All 3 levels had balconies. The host checked in with us to.make sure everything was good and we figured everything out. (Was very nice of her! ) At first our dog had difficulty with the spiral staircase but quickly overcame them . The teens were fascinated with the spiral staircases! Nice firepit and chairs to relax around . Overall great stay !

R & R at the Lake

Cozy and clean home away from home. Gave us all our own space and thoroughly enjoyed the deck with an awesome view of the lake. Got in a game of pool too. Property management was great to work with. Would recommend Off The Hook to anyone looking to decompress with family/friends.

Great Getaway

Great place! The home was clean and inviting. Fires by the water were beautiful and fishing on the lake was fun. We would love to come back with the kids. My only complaint would be the hot tub smelled slightly like amonia. I think the chemicals need to be adjusted.

Boardman House stay

We enjoyed our stay; the house was clean. It was very cute. We came up on our Harley's to see the fall colors it was a little rural, but we still enjoyed our time. My only suggestion would be to clean up the landscaping other than that we would stay again.

Great time at this house on the lake

The house was very clean and well kept. Many windows that overlook the lake. Location is very nice. 30 minutes or so to Traverse City, about 1 hr to Petoskey. Also many nice golf courses near by. Pretty secluded but there is a market 15 minutes away. Only missed 5 star IMO was the area down to the lake. They did not provide any pictures since it has weeds and very small. Only a small path to dock. Firepit very close to house since there is no room. Also on the deck was a nice gas grill. After buying food to grill, found out the propane tank was empty. Would expect a $15 tank fill up would be included especially for the price we paid. We made the best of things and still had a great time. Thank you !!

Disappointed

The location...you should know this location is on a dirt road, depending on which way your GPS takes you, could be anywhere from 1 to 5 miles of dirt. With in 10 minute drive to downtown Kalkaska, which is great for groceries and walking. On average it took us 30-40 mins to reach downtown Traverse City. The house....for the per night cost, disappointed. The front outside isn't too bad. The back is very dirty, bugs all over the back of the house, some of the chairs are mildewy, there are 3 water feature/ponds that are full of stagnant water, one of the screen doors is bent hanging in the track (not functional) and most of the windows are missing screens (unless you want a house full of bugs, couldn't open them). The kitchen was is minimally stocked, only 1 kitchen towel, no dish brush of any kind, 1 wine glass, etc. We agree with some of the other reviewers, the beds are not comfortable. We ended up buying some things that were missing in the kitchen and just left them (dish brush, colander, dish towels, etc.). It is decorated very nice inside, the wi-fi worked great, the hot tub was nice and plenty of bathroom towels were provided. The lake is great! Being next to the launch didn't bother us one bit. The host company...was very responsive!

Great Vrbo

My husband and I took our kids, their friends and his mother for a long weekend! The house is amazing for an up north vacation home. The decor is beautiful. The house itself was great for both kids and adults. The only bad thing is it is right next to a public boat launch which we did not realize. There was lots of activity including people, dogs and boats that made the home feel less private. Otherwise is was amazing!

Lakehouse with a view but needs some attention to details

The layout of the house and the lakefront views almost made up for the shortcomings discovered during our stay. Loose boards on the front porch are a hazard that caused a guest to trip and fall. The dining room chairs’ legs were so wobbly they were not safe to sit on. The cupboards above the microwave were covered in grease, there were cobwebs on the dining room and game room lamps, and it was obvious no high dusting had been done in quite some time. The amenities were a nice touch along with the spice rack for cooking. However, the outdoor grill only had one burner that worked so we didn’t get to enjoy grilling out. The game room was enjoyed by all. The lake decor in blue is adorable. It was disappointing to spend a significant amount of money for a vacation getaway and not get the quality I expected for the price.

Our stay was lovely, Kudos to the Property owners they were extra accommodating, if you left or forgot to bring ANYTHING it was already there at the property
 High Quality Dishes, Soap Powder, Toiletries, cleaning supplies, seasonings for food , condiments, that home had everything, Boats , Kayaks, pool table , Darts, Jacuzzi and a Bonfire Pit , & everything was in mint condition, an absolutely very lovely stay, thanks for a lovely mini vacation getaway

We had a wonderful time. The only negative thing was the beds were not that comfortable. Other than that it was clean, tons of stuff to play in lower level pool table, ping-pong, darts & smart tv's. We Would definitely stay here again. 😊

Beautiful property that’s right on a very peaceful lake. We will definitely be back! The only problems we had was getting access to the Internet. We were provided the wrong password and we’re trying to watch the lions on Thursday night!

Overall good stay

If you care about bugs inside the house, this isn’t the place for you. The windows, while closed, still allows bugs to enter the house. We vacuumed up some bugs, but they kept coming. Other than that, the place was good. Kayaks were nice, though only four adult life vests. We purchased kid life vests at a Dunhams sporting goods store in Traverse City since the house didn’t have any for kids. Swimming at the house was ok - though you sunk into the mud and the dock area was all lily pads. The beach on the other side of the small lake was better for swimming. Nice stay but would look for another rental for next year’s vacation.

Great time, but



Very nice inside and lakeside. Great accommodations, but a little rundown from the roadside. That view is the first impression. The porch and front deck boards need repair and in serious need of weeding. During our stay the hot water heater died and we went 30 hours without. Repairs were made and the rental folks followed up, but received no compensation. In spite of that we would consider another stay.

Nice Getaway

Nice backyard with views of lake. Caught and released good sized fish from the lake. Mentioned in listing that there are stairs to get in the house (and Inside) and that is very accurate but was perfectly fine for our group. Bugs were outside but it’s by water and in between some trees so bring bug spray while enjoying the outdoors. The bugs loved the lights on the hot tub at night so they would swarm by it. Overall would recommend to anyone looking to get away and have some scenic and peaceful views of Michigan.
