Welcome to Smiling River Lodge, a 4,191-square-foot custom home sleeping 14. This 4BR/4.5BA Black Butte home features two ground floor suites, bunkroom for eight, and a private hot tub.

LIVING AREA

Vaulted ceilings glow in the skylit Great Room with floor-to-ceiling stone wood burning fireplace and 65" TV. Entertaining extras include a full-size billiard table, a poker table, and a library of board games.

Curl up with a good book in the loft, detailed with a wood-burning fireplace and a foosball and ping-pong table.

KITCHEN & DINING

Indulge your inner chef in the gourmet kitchen, complete with ample counter space and stainless steel appliances -- including a double oven. The kitchen bar seats three.

Gather together beside a wood-burning fireplace in the dining area, furnished with a table for 12.

BED & BATH

Highlighted by vaulted ceilings, the primary suite has a king bed, walk-in closet, wood-burning fireplace, and direct hot tub access. The spa-like en-suite bathroom has separate double vanities, a walk-in shower, and a sunken soaking tub.

The second suite includes a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

A half bath adds convenience downstairs.

Also featuring vaulted ceilings, the third bedroom provides four twin-over-twin bunk beds and a flat-screen TV. The en-suite bathroom features a double vanity, a separate water closet, and a walk-in shower. This bunkroom is on the second floor.

The fourth bedroom, also on second floor, has a king bed and nearby shared bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

OUTDOOR AREA & AMENITIES

Surrounded by pines, your expansive deck includes a private tub, gas grill, and dining space as well as a hammock and horseshoe pit on this forested 2.6 acre property. The National Forest is a few hundred yards away, just head out the back door and down the hill West between two houses through the forest access common space.

An easy 8-minute walk, the Glaze Meadow Recreation Center provides a wide array of amenities. Highlights include:

- Year-round indoor pool, steam room, and outdoor hot tub
- Outdoor pools (open Memorial Day to Labor Day)
- Seasonal Bistro with bar and grill
- Fitness center
- Studio with yoga classes
- Equipment rentals
- Pickleball and tennis courts

EXTRA PERKS & MORE DETAILS

Perks include complimentary Wi-Fi, central air-conditioning, YouTube TV (cable), a washer/dryer, and various sleds and bikes.

Driveway parking is provided for five vehicles. Street parking is prohibited. Please park only on the pavement.

This two-story home is accessed via a set of three steps at the entryway.

The Ranch no longer collects a per person/day Guest Usage Fee at the Welcome Center. They are now having the property manager collect 13.5% of the rent and remit to the Ranch. This is an extra fee that we collect through VRBO just before check-in. You still need to check-in at the Welcome Center but will not be charged by them.

This home has exterior audio/video cameras in the front and back of house.

This home had a Christmas tree to welcome us for the start of our family holiday! There was an amazing bunk room that allowed our young grandkids to play with plenty of room. Spacious, comfortable house

My extended family stayed at the house, and we loved it. It has a wonderful, large living area, deck and kitchen. We loved having a pool table, ping pong and a kids bunk room. Plus, its location near Glaze Meadow pool is hard to beat!

Family Vacation

This home was amazing! We have a big family and there was plenty of room for everyone. A lot of games to entertain the kids and the adults. The pool is also a very short walk away. Great location! I would definitely stay here again.

Great Home for Large Group

Truly enjoyed my stay at Smiling River Lodge. Plenty of room to move around, billiards room, large dining room table, and massive outside deck. Freddie (host) was extremely easy to work with and accommodated our early check in request with no hesitation. Would absolutely recommend this home to others looking for a great place to bring a large group together in Black Butte Ranch.

Incredible Home!

We had 6 adults and 3 kids staying for 1 week over the Thanksgiving Holiday. So many "wow!" factors from the Christmas Tree when you walk in to the many fireplaces inside, window seats everywhere and all the fun things to do. The rec center is an easy, short walk away. Black Butte and all its amenities were great as well. We will definitely be back!

Winter relaxation

Our family of ten ranging in age from 9 to 79 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Smiling River Lodge. The home is very spacious and well appointed. We found everything we needed for cooking. Games and puzzles were readily available and the pool table, ping pong table and foosball table made for great family entertainment. The owner, Freddie, was very helpful and easy to contact. We will come back again!
