Welcome to Smiling River Lodge, a 4,191-square-foot stunner sleeping 14. This 4BR/4.5BA Black Butte home features two plush suites, a gourmet kitchen, and a private hot tub. Tee off at the Glaze Meadow Golf Course, then head to the pools and fitness center steps away at the Glaze Meadow Rec Center.

LIVING AREA

Vaulted ceilings soar in the skylit Great Room, configured with a 65” smart TV as well as a floor-to-ceiling stone wood burning fireplace. Entertaining extras include a full-size billiard table, a poker table, and a library of board games.

Curl up with a good book in the loft, detailed with a wood-burning fireplace and a foosball and ping-pong table.

KITCHEN & DINING

Indulge your inner chef in the gourmet kitchen, complete with ample counter space and stainless steel appliances -- including a double oven. The kitchen bar seats three.

Gather together beside a wood-burning fireplace in the dining area, furnished with a table for 12.

BED & BATH

Highlighted by vaulted ceilings, the primary suite has a king bed, walk-in closet, wood-burning fireplace, and direct hot tub access. The spa-like en-suite bathroom has separate double vanities, a walk-in shower, and a sunken soaking tub.

The second suite includes a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

Also featuring vaulted ceilings, the third bedroom provides four twin-over-twin bunk beds and a flat-screen TV. The en-suite bathroom features a double vanity, a separate water closet, and a walk-in shower.

The fourth bedroom holds two twin beds, while the guest bathroom is equipped with a tub/shower combination. A half bath adds convenience downstairs.

OUTDOOR AREA & AMENITIES

Surrounded by a sea of pines, your expansive deck includes a private tub, gas grill, and scenic alfresco dining space as well as a hammock and horseshoe pit on this forested 2.6 acre property. The National Forest is a few hundred yards away, just head out the back door and down the hill West between two houses through the forest access common space.

An easy 8-minute walk, the Glaze Meadow Recreation Center provides a wide array of amenities. Highlights include:

- Outdoor pools (open Memorial Day to Labor Day)
- State-of-the-art fitness center with yoga classes
- Steam room and equipment rentals
- Pickleball courts and lighted tennis courts
- Bocce ball courts and full basketball court

Driveway parking is provided for five vehicles. Street parking is prohibited. Please park only on the pavement.

This two-story home is accessed via a set of three steps at the entryway.

The Ranch no longer collects a per person/day Guest Usage Fee at the Welcome Center. They are now having the property manager collect 12% of the rent and remit to the Ranch. This is an extra fee that we collect through VRBO just before check-in. You still need to check-in at the Welcome Center but will not be charged by them.

This home has exterior audio/video cameras in the front and back of house.

Spacious, comfortable house

My extended family stayed at the house, and we loved it. It has a wonderful, large living area, deck and kitchen. We loved having a pool table, ping pong and a kids bunk room. Plus, its location near Glaze Meadow pool is hard to beat!

Winter relaxation

Our family of ten ranging in age from 9 to 79 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Smiling River Lodge. The home is very spacious and well appointed. We found everything we needed for cooking. Games and puzzles were readily available and the pool table, ping pong table and foosball table made for great family entertainment. The owner, Freddie, was very helpful and easy to contact. We will come back again!

Coolest rental ever in BBR!

This is an incredible house for a family reunion or big group. Tons of living space, plenty of beds and bathrooms with showers, and such great amenities. We loved the pool table, hot tub, and game tables upstairs. The kids learned to play poker on the super cool poker table, and we enjoyed a couple of the games from the game shelf. The kitchen and outdoor seating on the deck made for a great location to host dinner. Freddie was super responsive to our few requests. Looking forward to our next visit there!

Black Butte Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Black Butte! The location of the house is wonderful, and a great size for our large family. Outdoor space was amazing as well as proximity to Glaze Meadow Rec. The house would benefit from a little more TLC in certain areas. We had babies crawling on the floor so carpets could benefit from deep cleaning. The indoor dining room table was huge, but had a couple chairs in need of repair. We ended up using the outdoor table due to wonderful weather, so that wasn’t really a problem for us. The owner is super responsive which is great. Lots of towels for the pool, and bikes to use around the Ranch. For a large family gathering we would definitely stay there again.

Great Home for Large Group

Truly enjoyed my stay at Smiling River Lodge. Plenty of room to move around, billiards room, large dining room table, and massive outside deck. Freddie (host) was extremely easy to work with and accommodated our early check in request with no hesitation. Would absolutely recommend this home to others looking for a great place to bring a large group together in Black Butte Ranch.

Family Vacation

This home was amazing! We have a big family and there was plenty of room for everyone. A lot of games to entertain the kids and the adults. The pool is also a very short walk away. Great location! I would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay with a group of friends.

This house has room for all. We stayed with several families and had a wonderful time. The kids and adults had a great time playing pool in the living room and it was nice to have a pingpong table and foosball table upstairs for the kids. The host was very helpful and communicated quickly, especially when a friend thought she had left something behind at the house after we left. The garage was well stocked with extra TP and paper towels. There were lots of fun games and the house felt spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Pleasant stay in Black Butte

Great property overall. Pictures can't reflect how much bigger and airy the home feels in person. With 14 people we didn't feel crowded at all. Plenty of space for people to spread out. Kitchen was well stocked. With that many people, glad the home had dual ovens for food prep. Had some cleaning issues after we checked in. (not the owner's fault) But, the owner was very responsive and was on top of taking care of it quickly and making sure we were satisfied. Overall a very nice house and a good experience with this rental. Definitely would rent it again when we need space for that many people.

Incredible Home!

We had 6 adults and 3 kids staying for 1 week over the Thanksgiving Holiday. So many "wow!" factors from the Christmas Tree when you walk in to the many fireplaces inside, window seats everywhere and all the fun things to do. The rec center is an easy, short walk away. Black Butte and all its amenities were great as well. We will definitely be back!

Best spot for a BBR Wedding stay

We had a great time and loved this house at BBR. We stayed here with our bridal party during our wedding week and had a great time. The house was cozy and had great amenities— we loved all of the games and hot tub! Fred was so attentive and easy to contact. He was okay with us throwing our rehearsal dinner at the house and it was perfect for an intimate dinner! Thanks Fred, we will hopefully be back!!
