Summary:

Step off the back deck onto the golf course and walk five minutes to the bluff where the Pacific opens up. End the day in your private hot tub, wrapped in forest quiet. Bring your pup -- miles of bluff, meadow, and forest trails start at the door. Sleeps 6 in this 2-bedroom home near Sea Ranch's heated pool. Wildflower meadows surround the property, and the only agenda here is yours.



The Space:

Modern lines meet the rugged coast of Northern California at this Sea Ranch retreat. With wood-paneled ceilings that create an airy ambiance, a furnished patio area to soak up the coastal breeze while looking out to the golf course with a glass of wine in hand, and contemporary furnishings throughout, no one will have trouble feeling right at home in no time. After a fun-filled day at the beach, kick back on the plush sofa with a movie playing on the TV in the living room as the fireplace flickers nearby. If the kiddos want to watch their own shows, the loft area is home to another sofa and TV. Preparing meals will also be a treat with the u-shaped full kitchen boasting countertops, modern appliances, and all of the utensils needed for any recipe.



Long days of soaking up the Pacific await at this location, as trails leading to the bluffs and beach are mere steps from your front door. A round of 18 awaits at Sea Ranch Golf Links and the Clubhouse can be just the place to take a break from the sunshine.

Step outside to the deck, where the fresh coastal air and natural beauty of Sea Ranch surround you. End the day in the private hot tub under a canopy of stars and the quiet of the coast. Fire up the gas grill and enjoy a barbecue with the sounds of nature as your dinner music.

The entire home is yours to enjoy -- make yourself at home from the moment you arrive. The private hot tub is available around the clock -- no reservation needed. This home welcomes up to 1 dog -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.



The Neighborhood:

Perched along the Sonoma Coast, The Sea Ranch is a nature lover's paradise -- think tidepools, wildflower meadows, and redwood groves at your doorstep. Nearby highlights include community heated pool (North) (14-minute walk), Shell Beach tidepools (7-minute drive), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (8-minute drive). Trails lead from your door to the bluffs, beaches, and through the forest. Heated pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, and The Sea Ranch Lodge round out the amenities. Gualala is a quick 10-minute drive south for groceries, dining, and fuel. For a scenic outing, Jenner and Bodega Bay are further down Highway 1.



Getting Around:

When you need to grab a few necessities from the market or want to check out local shops and restaurants, Gualala sits just two-and-a-half miles up Highway 1. Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa is the nearest airport, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area.

Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.

This place is a great stay for people who want two master bedrooms. It’s very cozy and well decorated. Not close enough to view the ocean but you can hear it easily from the large, clean hot tub. Towards the north of Sea Ranch it is closer to Gualala, than to the Lodge, which worked well for us.

Nice Place, Missing a View

A very nicely kept Sea Ranch house. We had missed the fact that despite being on the ocean side of the highway this house is completely lacking in views of the coast. (That's on us, but somehow we didn't catch that with pics; it's the first house in over 10 SR visits where that's been the case, so a) we maybe made some assumptions and b) it was slightly disappointing. That said, saying this house has "beach access" is like saying my house has beach access -- yes, there's a way to get to the beach from both.) Otherwise it was a nice place, with two main bedrooms and two upstair lofts that could potentially sleep more people. (I had no contact with the property manager, but the form doesn't let me choose N/A.)

Lovely home

This is a great house if you have one dog and like to golf. It is limited in view due to its proximity to the golf course but there is easy access to the coastal trail. I’d suggest the owners add doors to the upstairs bedrooms and close off the “loft window” for privacy and sound. It would make the house much more user friendly. The microwave fan doesn’t pull and triggers the smoke detector which is irritating. Overall it was a comfortable, clean place to be.

Wonderful Stay

Our family loved this location. Our three young kids and our dog had plenty of room and it is right next to extensive walking trails. Beds and couches were comfortable. Kitchen essentials there with a few spices/cooking oil/etc. did love the electric stove but we made it work. Hot tub was great and we loved relaxing in the spacious living room. Fireplace didn’t work which was a disappointment and it would be nice if you didn’t have to separately drive to the rental office to pick up the parking passes.

beautifully designed home

The double-sided twin design made for a very nice atmosphere... Loved the local wildlife coming through the area. Gorgeous light in the home. Excellent kitchen. We did notice that the furniture -- couches, chairs, and beds -- were made for shorter people, not those near six feet tall. We enjoyed the hot tub (though the top cover is very heavy and hard to move). The biggest problem during our stay was with the barbecue which was corroded and wouldn't work. Good-sized bathrooms. Nice deck.

Great family house

We absolutely loved the floor plan for our extended family. It was so well laid out, offering privacy and great shared space. The loft was so perfect for the teens. The location was lovely with access to a trail just off the back yard. The house needs a deep cleaning and attention to detail with focus on comfort of guests. The multiple sliding glass doors had no screens making our stay less comfortable than it could have been. Unfortunately, getting check in details from the management company was not smooth, we were given the wrong door code after we had to contact them to request the information.

The apartment kitchen was poorly equipped, missing basic necessities and the only sizable pan was so dirty that we considered it a health hazzard to use. The air condition didn't work The beds were very soft leaving all members in the party with back ache. The coast line is beautiful

Hilma House - Sea Ranch CA 6/2022

Nice place. Enjoyed the fireplace and all the sunlight in the house. Very cozy. OK so it wasn't on the Ocean, which may have been a blessing considering the wind. Certainly was clean and very relaxing. Only negative comment is that there were no instructions for anything. Examples included the TV, heater, Wifi, and front door. Had to call Vacasa in Gualala to get the Wifi log in information (which they fortunately had). I guess there were instructions pre-covid. By the way, the people at the Vacasa Gualala place were wonderful. So, everything worked, but we had to figure it out for ourselves. Some items that should be checked. Hot Tub Cover - The hinges were broken. The cover worked OK, but there was more stress than was probably good. Hot Tub itself worked well. Check on BBQ. I think back was missing and knobs on controls were flaky. I removed them to use the BBQ. Otherwise it worked fine. I am an engineer so such things are important to me.
