South Cliff is one of those rare spots where you get proper peace without feeling cut off from things.
Oriel Crescent sits tucked away on a quiet residential street. You'll hear birdsong rather than traffic â there's no reason for cars to pass through unless someone actually lives here. The flat overlooks the old cricket ground, so your morning view is dogs chasing balls, families spreading out picnic blankets, and those beautiful blossom trees that make spring in Scarborough worth the long wait through winter.
Ramshill Road is a short walk away â independent cafes, bakeries that smell exactly how they should, and small supermarkets when you need milk or bread without getting in the car. South Cliff has that village-in-a-town feel. Same faces serve you coffee. They remember how you take it.
Five minutes towards the coast brings you to the esplanade with sea views straight over South Bay and the Spa. Moody and dramatic when it's stormy. Golden when the sun's out. Always worth the walk, whatever the weather's doing.
It's the sort of area where you feel comfortable letting the kids run ahead on the pavement. Parents walk slower here.
Just quietly lovely.
The apartment is accessed through a shared entrance hall and carpeted stairway (two flights of stairs to the first floor).
To enter you will receive a code for the lock box.
As a victorian property it benefits from high ceilings and big windows which bring in lots of light. It's large rooms give you lots of space but it still feels cosy.
The apartment has a large landing and hallway in addition to the rooms pictured. The bathroom has a rainfall and power shower, with great water pressure for a luxurious shower after a day at the beach.
Once you've parked up, you won't need the car. Everything's walkable from Oriel Crescent.
On foot:
Esplanade: 5 minutes
South Bay beach: 15 minutes
Town centre & train station: 15 minutes
Peasholm Park: 10 minutes
Supermarkets & shops: 5-10 minutes
The beauty of South Cliff is that it's flat until you decide you want the coast, so no trudging up hills with shopping bags or tired children.
By car: Free on-street parking right outside. If you're exploring further afield, you're 10 minutes from Scarborough train station, 15 minutes to the North York Moors, and half an hour to Whitby along one of England's most scenic coastal roads.
Local buses: Regular services run along Filey Road (2-minute walk) connecting South Cliff to the town centre, North Bay, and surrounding villages. Taxis are easy to find and affordable â most journeys within Scarborough are under ÂŁ10.
Please note that the apartment doesn't have a lift and you will have to walk up two sets of stairs to the first floor. If you have mobility issues, it has carpeted stairs with a strong staircase and space for sticks going up, but it would not be suitable for wheelchair users.
