Welcome to Sundowner, a beautiful 2 story villa, situated on exclusive Windermere Island, one of the safest and loveliest places in the world with a 24/7 security guard at its gateway bridge.

Sundowner has beautiful ocean views from its hilltop perch and is a short drive to the Beach Reserve where parking is available for beach access. Windermere Island's pink sand beach is over 5 miles long and quite wide - making it an ideal spot for sunbathing, walking or jogging, swimming, snorkeling over nearby reefs and building sand castles! The beach is often deserted so that you immediately feel peaceful and able to unwind and totally relax.

A stay at Sundowner includes membership privileges at the nearby Club at Windermere, less than a 2-minute walk from our villa, with heated pool (often unoccupied!), tennis, pickleball and air-conditioned gym with machines open year-round. From November to May the excellent Club restaurant and bar are open for in-house dining as well as for take-out.

The Club at Windermere also includes a cabana with restrooms, comfy seating and a barbeque area on West Beach, situated on Savannah Sound which separates Windermere Island from the main island of Eleuthera. West Beach is a 10-minute walk from Sundowner and is a perfect sheltered spot with calm water for swimming and kayaking – especially should the main Windermere beach (facing the Atlantic Ocean) become too windy. Kayaks and paddles are available at West Beach for your use.

Villa Sundowner is designed in “Old Bahamian” style with the living room area taking up the entire 2nd floor, surrounded by sliding glass doors and windows, opening onto a spacious deck encircling the upstairs. This plan ensures that guests at Sundowner enjoy stunning views of the ocean and sound from both the wrap-around deck and the cathedral ceilinged great room with dining area and kitchen – especially at sunrise and sunset. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, oven, cooktop and microwave. There are sliding glass doors opening onto the deck which has lounge chairs for sunbathing as well as sitting chairs and a large round table for dining outdoors. The TV in the living room is set up with Roku for streaming Netflix, etc.

On the ground floor level, Sundowner's spacious master suite has a king size bed, walk-in closet and private bath with a pocket door separating the sink/vanity area and the toilet and shower. There are 2 additional large bedrooms with queen size beds – sharing a second full bathroom, with a door separating the sink/vanity area from the toilet and bathtub with shower. Lastly there is a charming smaller bedroom with a full size bed.

All bedrooms (and the upstairs) have ceiling fans which keep temperatures cool, but should it get very hot (usually only during mid-summer!) each bedroom has its separate A/C unit. We have just installed a new AC unit for the living/dining/kitchen area!

The ground floor also has a laundry room with a washer and dryer. We also have a new back-up generator.
Our housekeeper comes every Wednesday for up to 4 hours to clean and do laundry as part of the rental fee.

Amenities include WIFI, washer/dryer, back-up generator, books and games, TV with Roku, plenty of beach towels, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, 2 kayaks and paddles, and 2 portable beach chairs.

Sundowner uses cistern water, so we ask our guests to conserve water. Cistern water is great for showering, brushing teeth etc. but we suggest you use bottled water for drinking (and replace what you use up!).
At least one adult over the age of 25 must be staying in the house. As the stairs are fairly steep (and there are glass tables in the living room), small children should be closely supervised.

less than a 10 min. drive to the nearest grocery store and restaurant (both in Savannah Sound)
a 30 min. drive to Governors Harbor market, gas, restaurants, shops and other supplies
a 30 min. drive to Rock sound supermarket and Airport
a 40 min. drive to Governors Harbor Airport
