The space
âąOur Haven in the High Desert is a unique, spacious retreat close to the best of everything Santa Fe has to offer.
âąThe two-level home built by the owner, a landscape designer, was created on the principle that the outdoors and the interior should be one. The large Craftman style windows bring Santa Fe's brilliant blue skies and sunsets to you! You'll fall asleep to the sound of the Koi Pond's waterfall and you might even get a glimpse of the resident Raven as he swoops down to take a sip of water and visit his Raven replica!
âąYour off-street parking space leads you to the gorgeous antique, Mexican Ironwood turquoise gate (there's a lock box with the gate key by the rose bush, draped in clematis). The first door is your entry into a well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, travertine tile countertops/backsplash, acid stained cement floor, colorful, diamond finished plastered walls, and hand adzed wood beams and posts. There's a half bath conveniently located off the kitchen; a dinning table for six; stainless topped rolling cart and a built-in workstation.
âąYou may be tempted to head right out to the deep flagstone covered portal filled with plenty of comfortable seating, a barbeque grill, propane heater, ceiling fans, and dimmable lighting. The resplendent gardens offer a lush oasis not often seen in Santa Fe. They are watered by an eco-conscious irrigation system fed by an underground, rooftop water harvesting system.
âąThen head upstairs using the hand-carved wood railings, into the Raven's Nest! The generous living area features a brand new, flat screen TV; two large, comfortable, upholstered chairs; a deep, contemporary style couch that seats 3/4; a plush area rug and glass/chrome coffee table; and a new pullout couch (with a memory foam mattress). Lots of designer pillows and floor/ceiling lights complement the cozy atmosphere. There's also a gorgeous, antique, Mexican Trastero filled with jigsaw puzzles and games.
âąThe upstairs features Australian Eucalyptus, hardwood flooring with radiant heating throughout and a different style of plastered walls.
âąThe enormous Master Bedroom has a hand crafted wood platform bed with a Queen Tempurpedic mattress, fresh, cotton linens/bedding and down pillows. There are plenty of pillow and blanket choices in the big, walk-in closet, and a clothes iron. There are more Northern NM style antique pieces in the Master Bedroom, including a desk and chair. There's a wood stove for those chilly nights; ceiling fans and a portable (vented) air conditioner for comfortable summer sleeping. Or just open the balcony doors. There are also double cell shades for those that like it dark.
âąYour private balcony, with an antique, French Bistro table and chairs offers a view of our magnificent Sangre de Cristo Mountains! Enjoy your coffee with the East morning light or the sunset reflecting from the West.
âąThe Master Bath has plenty of storage for your toiletries, and a lovely Kholer, Japanese sit bath and shower. We, of course supply cozy, cotton towels; soap; lotion; Shampoo/conditioner; and a new hair dryer.
âąThe owner is a designer and a collector of art, so you will enjoy a great variety of original artworks throughout the home.

âąAround the neighborhood, Santa Fe and the outskirts:
This neighborhood is within walking distance of downtown. It is a lovely stroll along the river on Alameda Street all the way there (about 15 minutes). There is a great park opposite the river called Alto Park. Just a few blocks away are the La Montanita Co-Op, Better Day Coffee, and Valentino's authentic Mexican restaurant. This neighborhood is quiet, safe, and inhabited by friendly local families. Santa Fe has a lot to offer, including fine dining, outdoor activities, art galleries, farmer's markets, Native American culture, and lots of local shopping.
âąOne important note: Santa Fe has very strict DUI laws. If you drive to local restaurants or bars, make sure you have a designated driver or walk to be on the safe side (if needed).
âąWe highly recommend renting a car. If you are flying into the ABQ airport, there are many options available. If you are flying into the Santa Fe airport, Hertz is available there. Many places in downtown are walking distance from the house, but if you would like to explore outside of Santa Fe, having a car is essential. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs and Abiquiu, where Georgia O'Keefe lived and painted, are only 1.5 hour drive and stunningly beautiful. Also, Abiquiu Lake and Ghost Ranch Retreat Center for wonderful hiking are easy to access. Las Alamos, Tent Rocks, Bandelier National Monument and many more amazing places are within a couple hours drive.
âąThere is a bus stop located on Alameda Street, which is just down the street, and it is a straight shot and a short ride to downtown.
âąRental bikes are also a great way to get around downtown. Mello Vello is not too far, and they have different types of bikes that fit your specific needs, whether you plan on mountain biking, just cruising around town, or wanting to do some serious road biking. Bikes can be kept in the front secure courtyard.
âąThere is a train that runs from Belen to Santa Fe with stops in Albuquerque and everywhere in between. It is, unfortunately, not located close to the airport, but it is a fun way to travel up and down the state of New Mexico.
