Exposed viga ceilings, stone floors, and a corner kiva-style fireplace set the tone in the main living area, while large windows frame the terrace and the mountains beyond. Whether you are reading on the sofa, enjoying a movie night, or stepping outside for fresh desert air, the home feels grounded in its natural surroundings.



A fully equipped kitchen and inviting dining space make it easy to enjoy home-cooked meals, and a private washer and dryer add everyday convenience. The outdoor areas truly elevate the experience, with multiple spaces to relax, gather, and take in the landscape.

The main living space features stone floors, exposed wood vigas, and a corner kiva-style fireplace that anchors the room with authentic Southwestern character. A queen sofa bed and a loveseat provide flexible seating, and a Roku TV offers entertainment for relaxed evenings indoors.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, and utensils, making it easy to prepare anything from quick breakfasts to full meals. Enjoy meals at the wooden dining table, or take dining outdoors for a more scenic experience.



Outdoor Space

Outdoor living is where Casa de las Piedras truly shines. Out front, a rock garden frames a seating area perfect for morning coffee or sunset views. A short path leads to a gazebo with a dining table for six and ambient lighting for evening meals under the stars. Just off the main living area, a stone terrace offers additional seating, a dining table, and uninterrupted mountain views.

Guest Access:

Guests will have full access to the home and its outdoor living areas.

Self check-in is via a lockbox. From the driveway, follow the red stone path to the wooden door to the left of the steel door, where a lockbox hangs on the door knob. The key for the steel door is inside; please return it to the lockbox at checkout (a replacement fee applies if it is not returned).

Parking is available on site for up to three vehicles.

The home is reached by a dirt road and has rocky, uneven surfaces and multiple steps. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended year-round and required in winter conditions.



The Neighborhood:

Casa de las Piedras sits in a peaceful high-desert setting surrounded by natural beauty, hiking trails, and abundant wildlife, with sweeping mountain and valley views. Downtown Santa Fe is about a 20-minute drive away, with dining, galleries, museums, and cultural attractions, and Ski Santa Fe is within reach for winter activities.



Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is required. The home is reached via a dirt road off Old Las Vegas Highway, and a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended year-round and required in winter, when the area can receive snow. Please plan accordingly, as tow service is limited in the area.



Other Things to Note:

Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM.

Guests must be at least 25 years old to book, and only registered guests are permitted.

No smoking, parties, or events.

Pets are welcome (up to two dogs).

This home has limited, partial air-conditioning; the high-desert climate keeps it comfortable, and fans are provided.

Entry is via a lockbox with a key for the steel door inside; please return the key at checkout, as a replacement fee applies if it is lost.

The home is reached by a dirt road with rocky, uneven terrain and multiple steps. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended year-round and required in winter, when guests should be prepared for the possibility of being snowed in, as tow service is limited.

The home is not accessible-friendly and may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations.

There is an outdoor patio area with no guardrail and roughly an eight-foot drop; it may not be appropriate for small children.

Please be aware that local wildlife, including snakes, is common in the area.

The kiva fireplaces in the bedrooms are decorative only and not for guest use.

We enjoyed the home during spring break. Conveniently located to Taos Plaza and a short drive to Taos Ski Valley. Kitchen was excellent for cooking meals at home. Jacuzzi was perfect for soaking sore muscles. We recommend the home! So many positives to list.

This was our second time here so, obviously, we love it. Spacious old style New Mexican house, big well-appointed kitchen, great fireplace, large dining room, a big study/TV room...and a truly impressive range of books on the shelves. The owner would be interesting to know. And I haven't mentioned the large grounds and outdoor space. Spectacular place.

Perfect place for a large group

This was probably one of my favorite vacation rental properties I've ever been to! It was such a beautiful property and I loved the large open yard with some old, giant beautiful trees there. The house had a lot of charm, beautifully decorated and loved the southwest feel. Plenty of space for our 5 families with children.

Family Reunion at Casa Rosa

The house was perfect! Beautiful adobe structure, big enough to accommodate 9 people comfortably. We especially loved the yard. It goes on forever. Definitely a place we could visit again.

Beautiful house and property

The house is great for up to 10 people with plenty of space and privacy plus togetherness. Outside is amazingly beautiful with lots of green grass yard space and mature gorgeous trees. Very private at the end of a road with lots of greenery. We will definitely stay again!

Great stay in Taos

Perfect retreat for a stay in Taos for two families. This house was a great location to explore Taos for a couple of days and was very comfortable for 7 of us. The kitchen dishes/pots could have been cleaner but otherwise it was a nice house. We loved the hot tub at night to relax before bed. The rooms were a good size and beds comfortable. All in all a great stay. Thanks!

Nice house though a bit tired

Overall an enjoyable stay. Our group enjoyed the large kitchen, lounging by the fireplace, and working puzzles on the dining room table. Plenty of space for our group of 8 adults. Older, charming, traditional adobe with low ceilings (several head bumps for our 6'-2" folks). Some furnishings could use a bit of freshening up. As others have noted some sort of critters are periodically active above the ceilings. Baseboard heating lacks room by room control, so sleeping temperatures in bedrooms vary widely from chilly to very warm.

On the day we arrived, We contacted Vicasa support to report issues. The kitchen water faucet did not work. The Key box did not work. There were no dish towels, but there wasn't any water in the kitchen anyway. The oven did not work. When we asked about the location of the recycle bin, we were told that Taos did not recycle. We found out later that this was a blatant lie. When we asked when a service person would fix the needed repairs, He said that they would arrive shortly. None ever came. We had to rent an additional space several blocks away to serve meals and use an oven. This was a disgusting experience for all of us. We will never trust Vicasa again.
