Bad experience. Upon arriving, they let me know their 'system was down', and that I would need to provide my CC number, expiration, and security code written down on a piece of paper. I travel for work often and have never been asked this. I raised with the team that this was unusual, and I asked that they offer an alternative. They told me that there was no other way. In retrospect, I should have walked away and gone elsewhere. The front desk team was acting as if I was trying to scam them or something. There was no acknowledgment that this was unusual, and 100% the hotel's responsibility, not mine. From my perspective, their system being down should have been on them, but this was not their position.
It got worse from there.
It turns out that their IT issues were affecting the entire property. An automated gate at the parking garage wasn't working at all, so multiple times coming in and out of the hotel, I had to wait for someone to manually activate the gate. The parking, by the way, was $37 per night - an absolute ripoff considering the high rate of the room. After parking, I got locked out of the building because my key card wasn't working. I had to call the hotel to get them to buzz me in.
On top of these annoyances, breakfast wasn't included in my rate. Everything about this experience was sub-par. I will be traveling to San Diego 2-3 more times in the next year for business, and I'll be trying other options nearby instead of this property.
