Le Carriage House, composé de deux unités séparées louables, combine le meilleur des deux mondes-emplacement et des équipements. Family trip to San Diego Zoo

Family and I stayed here for a quick trip to the San Diego zoo. The neighborhood was perfect, and the property was great. We have small children so we wanted to be close to the zoo. plenty of food and coffee shops are around as well.

Great for extended families

This property is ideal for extended families and those traveling with adult children. It has two separate apartments - one above the other - with separate entrances. The beds were very comfortable with top-notch linens. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood, which is in walking distance to cafes/restaurants. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay again when traveling to San Diego.

Close to Balboa Park

The property we stayed in was actually two apartments. One with upstairs outside entry and the other on the first floor. Off street parking was less than ideal as we got boxed in one day. Hence the 4 stars. Otherwise the apartments were very roomy and well organized. Could use a better shower curtain and better knives in kitchen. Otherwise great! My family enjoyed it.

Family holiday

My wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and I visited my daughter and husband who live in San Diego for Thanksgiving. The two units were a great venue for gathering and eating. The units were well equipped, bright, and historic. Parking was easy on the street and we walked to Balboa, restaurants, and attractions like the suspension bridge. We had a heat issue when we arrived but Laura and Don responded quickly and issue solved. We would definitely return for our next family gathering in San Diego. Thank you Laura and Don!!

Baseball Trip

Some friends I grew up with do a yearly baseball trip to a new city (16 years running!) and this year was San Diego. This place was great! It was conveniently located among all of the things we wanted to do with nothing further than a 10-15 minute Uber ride - including the airport. The location was private and quiet. Very clean and plenty of room. Highly recommend!

Perfect San Diego Getaway

This charming two apartment historic property was exactly as listed. Professionally decorated, extremely comfortable, and clean. The outdoor space was a respite after a long day at Balboa Park. A nice spot for an after dinner drink and enough room for an active two year old to prance a bit. We can't say enough about our vrbo property rep, Kris Lang. She was able to accommodate our request for early arrival making it just a little easier to get family travelling from various cities into the house on a staggered schedule. We would definitely recommend staying in this lovely home. It was great to have our night owls in one unit and our early risers in the other. That really worked out well for our 4 adult kids. We would have no hesitation to staying in this home on a return trip.

Well-situated and stocked

Our group rented both the upper and lower portions of the carriage house and had plenty of room for our entire family to eat around one table and spread out in the living room. The location was great to get to the airport and local attractions. The only downside was the minimal outdoor seating, but on-site laundry was a plus. The street was quiet and we were able to find parking without any problems. The carriage house provided everything we needed for our stay - we had a great time!

What a beautiful place to stay when in San Diego! Spotless and comfortable. Gorgeous decor. Great neighborhood. The owners put together an absolutely wonderful guidebook to help familiarize us to the great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and grocery stores in the neighborhood. Great attention was made to be sure that any amenities that might be needed were there for us!

Our party of six really enjoyed the Carriage House. Beautifully decorated with high end quality furnishings and renovated to reflect the 1920’s character of the neighborhood. Quiet, safe neighborhood, plenty of street parking, within walking distance of Balboa Park and a variety of dining options. The owners kept in contact with us, stopped by to check in, and were very accommodating to our requests. We hope to make a return visit!

Beautiful place, excellent location

We stayed at the Carriage House for a weekend. We rented both units and had a great time. The apartments have an old world charm and modern bath and kitchen. The courtyard was a relaxing place to sit. The location is right in the middle of bankers hill. Very convenient for Balboa Park, restaurants, and coffee shops. Don is a great host, easy to work with. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful location with fantastic hosts

We've stayed in a number on VRBO's and this has been the best ever! The location was fantastic, clean and had everything we would expect. We would stay her again as the hosts provided a wonderful home for us. Close to all the fun stuff San Diego offers!!! Don't hesitate, book it!

Feels like home, and much cooler than Phoenix in July.

This place is full of wonderful design details that leave you with a feeling of home. It has comfy couches and beds, well designed and appointed kitchens, thoughtful touches in the baths, and friendly hosts. Our 4-day mid-week vacation brought my wife and I, and the families of our three adult daughters (7 adults and one toddler total) together to stay in both up and downstairs accommodations. The set up could not have been more perfect for our stay. We had two living rooms to gather and chat, or move to a different room to watch TV. The 4 bedrooms (two upstairs and two downstairs) provided privacy but were proximate enough to facilitate closeness. Subtle things like the small decorative well at the base of the stairs with a whimsical frog fountain brought about a memorable conversation with our 3-year old granddaughter. The hosts designed the interiors to reflect the construction period (1915 or thereabouts) of the site, and the mission/craftsman design ethos that was popular at that time. However, the rooms and facilities have been updated to reflect modern sensibilities. A/C is available, but we slept with windows open on the second floor and took advantage of the breeze off the harbor and the top of the hill location. Definitely will consider this place again for a repeat visit. The only real knock on the place is parking is on the adjacent quiet street, which can be tricky, but manageable during the daytime. It's generally not a problem in the late afternoon and evening. In my mind, the design extras, room arrangement, and ideal location make up for the parking question.

A lovely stay in a unique setting

We were a party of 13 in San Diego for a family reunion. 6 of us ( 4 adults and two teenage boys) stayed at this home, and 7 of us at a nearby home. Although I did not personally stay at this home, I spent quite a bit of time there, I have feedback from my family, and I interacted with the owner numerous times. The house is actually two separate apartments, which worked out beautifully for us, as the two couples stayed in the downstairs suite (two bedrooms, each with ensuite) and the two boys had their own "bachelor pad" upstairs (two bedrooms and a shared bathroom). This gave the boys (and their parents!) some privacy and space which was much appreciated by all. The two units together is really an ideal set-up for a family with teenagers. The units are set back from the street, which means it's quiet and feels quite private and peaceful. There is a lovely courtyard which well accommodated the whole party of 13 for outside dinners. The units were immaculately cleaned, beautifully decorated with 1920s styling , spacious and comfortable. The beds and bathrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen in the downstairs unit got the bulk of the use, and my family found it well-equipped and functional, even when we were cooking dinners for 13! The location is terrific. You're walking distance from groceries, restaurants, funky shops, and Balboa Park, as well as being quite convenient to the airport. It's a really nice, comfortable and safe neighborhood. Don is an exceptional host. He was welcoming, and always available (and didn't seem to mind all our little questions!) Our damage deposit was promptly refunded. My family and I would definitely stay again. Thanks Don!!
