Getaway Vacation Home, between the sweet town of Salida and Monarch Ski Area

Just 11 miles from the vibrant mountain town of Salida, and 11 miles in the other direction from Monarch Mountain, this home is truly a gem away from it all--yet with easy access to urban and outdoor adventures!
World-class skiing, rafting, hiking, and mountain biking abound in this beloved vacation destination, as well as dog-sledding, horseback riding, shops, art galleries, and restaurants. We'll have info on all these local opportunities and more available in our cabin's guestbook.

Built in 2018, this home has all the comforts and amenities you would expect in a modern vacation home. Because of its location, it feels secluded and offers breathtaking mountain views, yet has easy access to US highway 50.
With its spacious bedrooms, you'll find plenty of room for your group to spread out and be comfortable. The oversized upper-level bedroom has a king bed and a TV area with futon for in-suite lounging. The other upstairs room has a bunk bed that is great for children or singles.
We've equipped the home with the fastest wifi available here (15/3MBPS) so it's all set up to accommodate your work-from-home and online schooling needs! The home also boasts three smart TVs, two 58”and one 47”. The home also boasts three smart TVs, two 58”and one 47”, and very good, reliable high-speed internet.
If you want to bring up to two dogs, please notify us first so we can make sure you're aware of our house-rule (basically, practicing "leave no trace" pet ownership inside and outside, and keeping dogs off all furniture, bedding, and carpet). Once you agree to those guidelines and understand that any evidence of pets left behind after your stay will result in extra cleaning/repair costs that we will have to pass along to you, then we will send you the invoice for the $100 non-refundable pet fee.

The well-maintained house offers excellent privacy as it sits back from the road and is surrounded by open space. The furnishings and appliances were very nice. Everything was as advertised. The host was very friendly and helpful. Communication was excellent. We would gladly stay here again!

This house was everything and more that we want on a vacation. It was clean and fully stocked with plenty of room for us to feel at home. Just what we needed!

I took my family to the Salida Area for Spring break to ski at Monarch Mountain. This home was perfect! It has plenty of room, great layout, very clean and excellent location (15 minutes to Monarch Mountain and 15 minutes to town). But - we felt like we were out! The location also had beautiful Mule Deer hanging out on the property and great views. Property Manager was awesome and communicated very well; very responsive. I would highly recommend it - but - I don’t want it to stay booked up and unavailable for us the next time we travel to the area (this Summer)! lolGreat place; great experience!

Wonderous retreat!

My family of 4 really enjoyed our stay here. It is close to both Monarch Mountain and Salida, which had several great dining options. Even though it looks and feels remote, it's also within walmart delivery range. Beautiful views and comfortable accommodations.

Everything was clean and the house was well stocked. The location is awesome, close to Salida and Monarch. We loved the double shower heads in the master bath and blackout curtains in the bedrooms.

Decent Rental - Location Not So Much

If you're visiting for the skiing, this location would probably suit you just fine. If you're wanting to get away with some isolation and habitat to explore, this isn't quite your place. The house is just a couple hundred yards off of a main highway, so you do hear the cars, trucks and motorcycles zooming by. The house itself is fine - clean and ample for a family, but not much on nicer amenities and features. Furniture and kitchen items were good so you'll be comfortable, but this is not a place where you'll want to kick back around the cabin and enjoy nature unless you are cool with sitting on the front porch and watching the cars drive by.

Perfect place to stay, location right between Monarch and Salida was awesome! Great place to relax after a day on the slopes! Kitchen was well stocked and we were able to pack a few things to prep easy dinners.

Sweet, spacious, super-clean house

This place was brand-new level of clean -- virtually spotless, very spacious, very well-stocked with all of the stuff we needed to cook. Very comfortable. The only minor quibble -- which ended up being NBD -- is the location. Judging by the images and descriptions, the property looks to be in the middle of nowhere/remote. In fact, it faces a major highway into Salida and sits next door to a KOA campground (which was deserted, due to the time of year we stayed. So not an issue for us, but may be for someone looking for more peace and quiet at a busier time of year). The location, otherwise — ease of getting in/out of Salida, to Buena Vista, proximity to great hikes — was perfect for us.

Great place to share with friends/family

We chose this place mostly because of the location. We love to ride ATVs, this was close to many of our favorite trails, and had ample room to park our truck with ATV trailer. The layout is great to share with family/friends. The primary bedroom with ensuite bath is downstairs. Upstairs is another big bedroom and/or 2nd family room, plus a bunk room and another full bath. Kitchen was big and had everything we needed to prepare meals. We had a wonderful time!

Lovely Home

This was perfect for my friends and I visiting and skiing at Monarch Pass. Everything we needed was provided, it was clean, communication with the owner was very good and prompt and we very much enjoyed our stay.

Great Location!

House was perfect for our group and the kids loved the bunk beds! Great location for skiing at Monarch too. The property manager responded quickly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend!

Awesome Salida Area Vacation Home

The house is a lovely cabin with....air-conditioning! Check in and out wasa breeze. The nights are nice and cool,but in the summer afternoons can get a little steamy upstairs so having ac was a plus. There are also blackout curtains in all bedrooms, which is so nice. The house was very well furnished. The only things we needed that weren't on hand were a box fan for the second upstairs room and an iron. We also enjoyed having a big enough living room for all 6 of us to be able to watch movies together a few nights. Being close to the hwy made it easy to get out and see the area. Overall this was a very clean and well appointed house and would definitely stay again if we visit the area.

Annual Trip with the Kids

We had a great time at this property. Each January, our adult children and "significant others" join us for a ski trip. The house is well located and 10 miles from Monarch. We did a snowmobile trip one day, 4 miles away and had an excellent tour. Loved the house, well equipped and helpful host! Thank you.
