Nestled just outside the village of Burley in the New Forest National Park, Stag Cottage is a peaceful, detached two-bedroom thatched holiday home offering privacy, character, and access to nature. Ideal for romantic breaks, family getaways or special occasions, the property comfortably accommodates 6 guests plus an infant and includes a private games room/gym, a large enclosed garden, an above-ground plunge pool, and a Lazy Spa hot tub.

With direct access to open forest trails and wild ponies roaming freely outside the gate, it offers a magical setting for walking, cycling, or simply unwinding.

Stag Cottage is not just a place to stay – it’s an experience. The hosts go above and beyond, providing welcome groceries, wine or soft drinks, chocolates, and helpful local info. The home is cleaned to a 5* standard with hypoallergenic bedding and antibacterial supplies. Romantic extras, celebration packages, babysitting and therapy sessions can all be arranged. Whether you’re soaking in the lazy spa hot tub, relaxing by the fire pit, or playing games with the kids, you’ll enjoy a stay to remember.

A Home to Relax and Unwind
The cosy living room has two leather sofas, a 55” smart TV (new 2025), electric wood-burner-style heater and radiators. The dining area seats six. Upstairs, the main bedroom includes a double bed and two singles, the second has two singles and a travel cot. Towels and bedding are provided, with themed bedding available for children.

The bathroom includes a walk-in shower (big enough for two), quality toiletries, toilet roll and a first aid kit.

The current kitchen is compact but well-equipped with:

- BBQ tools, cleaning supplies, tea towels, scouring pads

A fully fitted kitchen with oven, dishwasher and washing machine will be added in late 2025. Until then, laundry can be done on request using facilities in the host’s home.

Are you a couple, single parent, grandparents, sisters or friends with little ones who want to avoid the crowds and enjoy off peak prices ?

Bring your little ones away for a wonderful midweek break (some weekend days available for certain breaks) in the delightful thatched ‘Stag Cottage’ in The New Forest… where you won’t just get to see Pepper Pig, you may see a stag in the garden.

You’ll get to see New forest ponies roaming around freely right outside your holiday cottage, plus cows and donkeys (and even ‘real pigs’…in the autumn)! For sure, you’ll see Bengal cats in the garden and possibly even get to cuddle Bengal kittens.

In Stag Cottage you will find… Pepper Pig duvets and toys in the bedrooms plus books, games and DVD’s downstairs. Even Pepper Pig towels and yummy Pepper Pig treats.

For the adults a bottle of red, white or rose wine and a box of chocolates as part of a lovely welcome hamper plus grown up games, books, DVD’s and of course… the wonderful hot tub to relax in. Enjoy at any time of day but especially after a day out with the children enjoy some quality time together in the hot tub under the stars with a nice glass of wine.

What your 4, 5 or 6 night holiday could look like….

Travel down to the New Forest and spend the first day (usually a Sunday) in the famous village of Burley, with its quaint shops, family pubs, famous afternoon cream tea shops and be very spoiled for choice at the Burley Ice cream stand where the ice creams are huge. Have a lovely walk in the New Forest or hire a bike in the village and take a cycle round the forest before checking in to your cosy thatched cottage… Stag Cottage has its own private games room, huge garden, hot tub, pool, BBQ and fire pit… all private and all just for you. Stag Cottage will be your relaxing base until Friday morning at 11am (late check out may be possible but would need to be booked in advance.

On day 2… make the most of having Pepper Pig world at its least busy time, so you have more time to go on the rides and meet Pepper and family without the queues and enjoy a less crowded soft play area and cafe’s.

Then recover from your busy day of excited, happy children by relaxing in the huge garden and games room... that are both private just for you. Then to relax in the hot tub under the starts with a lovely glass of wine or soft drink with our compliments.

Just for your peace of mind, although they should be sleeping very soundly after fun filled days with lots of New Forest fresh air, we will also provide a baby monitor, so you can relax in the garden or hot tub, right next to the cottage while being able to keep an ear out of your peacefully sleeping children.

On day 3, you could have a more relaxing day and perhaps visit any or many of the other villages in the New Forest… all within 25 minutes drive from Stag Cottage. If it’s the season for the open top, hop on-hop off bus, you can enjoy the whole New Forest by bus, for a really relaxing way to see the New Forest. The bus stop is just 200metres from the cottage at the end of the lane.

On day 4, choose another lovely fun filled day out for you and your little ones enjoying more of the New Forest… perhaps a day at Moors Vally Country Park with its lovely walking and cycling routes, play areas and the tree top trampolines plus there is a Go Ape there for the more adventurous… suitable for the whole family. Take a picnic lunch and make a day of it… one of your more wallet friendly days. 😉

On day 5, you could visit Beaulieu Motor Museum which is whole day out for the family or stay closer to Burley and go to Liberty’s… the bird of prey and reptile centre.

On day 6 after checking out, before you head home, perhaps you could spend your final day visiting one of the best beaches in the world… just 25 mins drive from here. Take a walk along the wide promenade, and enjoy the extra wide, beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles. You can walk straight from the car park on to the sand, so with no steps it’s ideal for people with disabilities too.

We will also recommend lots of lovely places to eat.
