So much potential

This place has SO much potential… if it weren’t for the overwhelming mold smell when you enter the house and throughout our stay. It’s got a beautiful view, and the cabin itself is woodsy and cute, with a great deck and yard area perfect for dogs (albeit a clearly pressure washed wood deck that needs to be sanded - sliver mayhem.)We got there and the house was freezing. It’s clear that the 2 space heaters they have in the main area are supposed to be the main source of heat - and a couple in the bedroom closets - but none were going when we arrived. Took hours to warm up, and then we don’t keep them on when we sleep because of safety. We were cold most of the stay when present. It wasn’t the cleanest. Hairs on the wall of the bathroom that weren’t ours, and what we think was mold on the corner of the bedroom floor. Otherwise, just dirt/grime around the edges of things.Bring your own pillows. I can’t stress enough the gorgeous view, and wonderful grass yard out front, but unfortunately with all these other issues mentioned (mostly the mold.), we wouldn’t stay here again unless the listing made clear it was fixed. We did get early check in.Disappointing overall, with a place that could be awesome.

Just the view

Checked in after dark. NO LIGHTING at all....almost drove off the the parking area that sits higher up than the rental. While trying to the entry,, i fell down the steps that were listed in the description of the rental , this was due to the no lighting. I had to use my camera flashlight just to see the codes on the entry pad. The house was icecold when i arrived. I turned on the heating along withthe propane stove. It blew out the circut breaker in the master bedroom and i had to sleep in the guest room. The kitchen and bathroom were clean. The sheets were clean. The rugs are filthy along with the carpets. There areothwr homes all around and no privacy, including the owners unit that is on the property which the listing goes state either. There are not enough window coverings for privacy in this cabin either. Everyone could look right in. I left the next morning and never came back. View is great. steps because there was no lightingp

Bring your slippers!

We rented this property for a weekend birthday getaway. I loved how secluded the property is and yet close to freeway access. The house has newer appliances, was very clean and had a great outside space. There are hard floors throughout, so bring your slippers if you tend to get chilled easily.

They really under sell the view

I stayed at this property over Thanksgiving with my spouse and nibblings while we visited with our family that lived in the area. We arrived really late in the evening on our check in date with no trouble getting in. The next morning we were surprised with an incredible view of the Hood Canal and Mount Olympus that was totally undersold in the property description. Our stay was overall okay, there were several issues that we had while we were there but the property management company was pretty responsive to the issues we had and did what they could to fix them.

Johnson Road View House

Great view, but house not well maintained. Problems closing and opening doors (house seems to be settling). Got trapped in Master Bedroom twice because latch would not turn - door was stuck. We were able to open bedroom windows for ventilation, but the window screens and sills were very dirty. Kitchen light above sink is wired in violation of the electrical code, and does not work consistently. My grandson (60 lbs) who was visiting for the day sat on a dining room chair and fell through the caned bottom (I have a photo). There was a pillow on each of the four chairs covering the cane, and the cane on this chair had a hole across the entire seat. He was not hurt. Could have used a few more forks (there were only 4). We ended up leaving a day early.

Artistic furnishings, great view!

This house has a fantastic view! We loved sitting outside watching the sun go down at night and the private fenced yard was perfect for my grandson It was very well stocked with everything we needed and had a lot of toys for our 3 year old. The carpets were stained, but overall it was clean and very nice.

It really is all about the view!

The view is stunning, the cabin has a certain funky charm. It could benefit from a little more attention to cleaning (windows, dusting) and details like replacing burned out bulbs, but overall it was fine. Don't forget to bring binoculars! We spent a lot of time on the deck and saw eagles, herons, a playful sea lion, the dorsal fins of pair of porpoises, and even a submarine. As other reviewers have mentioned, the bed frame makes a terrible creaking noise, so if you're light sleeper the noise will wake you. The kitchen is adequately equipped, but I would recommend bringing a non-stick skillet as the one there is unusable. No instructions on how to use the gas fireplace, so hopefully the host will remedy that before the weather gets too cold!

Not the best, deceived by advertising

Not able to find entrance, had to call. Outside of property very dangerous. Cleaning not finished. Vacuuming not finished and carpet disgusting in bedroom. Tons of spots and cigarette burns. People have smoked in this house, the house smelled. I have asthma this was not good. Coffee maker broken and disgusting. Had to buy a new one. TV doesn’t work, not even local channels. No directions as to how things worked. No fans very warm in afternoon and evening. No comfortable chairs to sit on only a couch. No water access. Great view and that is about it! Felt that we were deceived by advertising.

Quiet, beautiful log cabin retreat

We loved the log cabin interior and the view of the Olympic Mountains is spectacular. The new deck is spacious and solid, and, although we did not need it, the fenced yard is perfect for pets and kids. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. The main bedroom has lots of storage space and the bed was very comfortable. The steps down into the bedroom were ok for us but would make it difficult for folks with mobility issues. My husband was handy enough to get the gas fireplace going, which was the only source of heat in the living/dining room. It was cold out and so it was difficult to stay warm at times. There were instructions to start a load of towels before leaving, but there was no laundry detergent. It was a lovely stay and we would love to come back in warmer weather.

Lack in information on listing

When my elderly mother in law arrived at the rental she could not know how to enter the home as the lock box was inside another door. She walked around the building looking for an entrance with extremely dangers steps that are not properly laid out and stick out of the ground. There was no mention in the listing of the entrance being down several steps which was difficult for both my mother in law and myself. The house was freezing when we arrived and it took over three hours to figure out how to light the fire and waited an hour for a call back from a lady that didn’t really know how to manage the heat but told us there was a couple portable heaters maybe in a closet which we eventually found one. Upon entering the house you can smell cigarette smoke and there was thick heavy tobacco stains in the bathroom. On the second day I noticed a rodent had tried to chew through one of my dry grocery bags sitting on the kitchen counter and also have several spots where there was visible mouse poop. I could also hear critters in the walls from the bedroom and the living room. I feel like the ad for the rental was very misleading and the rodents were a major problem considering I’m in my third trimester of pregnancy and I have a 2 year old running around. I felt like the bare minimum was done to provide a clean and comfortable space.

Papa's 93rd Birthday getaway

It was very confusing on the key entry information. The lock box was inside the laundry room, meaning you had to enter through a outside door into the laundry room to get to the key entry box. The house was unlocked when we arrived. We were not able to lock the house when we left. There was no key and the code box did not lock the door. This was alarming for us. We had to pack our valuables every time we left. The steps leading down to the house were old wood and very slippery. This was a great concern getting my 93 year old dad in and out of the house. I think they could do more to address this. The house itself was amazing and the view priceless. I didn't see any signs of extra sanitizing efforts such as all the dishes and silverware did not have signs saying do not hand wash - everything should have gone into the dishwasher at the end and the cleaners should have been the only ones to touch them. Who knows who all have handled the dishes before we arrived! I washed everything before using. There was only one hand towel and one set of wash cloths for the bathroom for the entire stay. I prefer a clean one each day, and to not share hand towels with others even if it is family. Overall, these things would not deter me from staying again. We absolutely loved the house and our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful view and neighborhood

Very peaceful stay for our month. Beautiful view and neighborhood for walking. Quiet. A few issues: We had a difficult time finding it, as it is back from the street and there is no actual address signage. Also as seniors, we had problems getting internet setup. And using ROKU tv. Would have been nice to have a written guide.
