Casa del Duca is located in a splendid natural setting, immersed in Mediterranean scrub, in a wonderful position with panoramic views of the fascinating gulf of Portoferraio: in the countryside, but very close to the town centre, about four hundred metres from the road that connects Portoferraio to Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri, and just a short walk from the picturesque promenade on the seafront of the San Giovanni spa area. This imposing villa, whose construction dates back to the 16th century, is attributed to Cosimo dei Medici who, it is said, lived there in order to control the building of the fortresses then under construction in the bay of Portoferraio. Renovated in the early 2000s, the villa combines ancient splendour and modernity, without neglecting the original design of the old Tuscan noble villa, on three floors for more than 600 sq m with five spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms and large. brightly-lit living areas. The villa is surrounded by a prestigious park of about 5,000 sq m with a large swimming pool with solarium, a pinewood, an olive grove with over one hundred trees and a large handy parking area, accessible from a double driveway. All this creating the ideal environment in which to host families or large groups of friends who wish to spend a relaxing stay in a peaceful setting, yet close to the services and numerous beaches in the area. Casa del Duca is 5 km from Portoferraio, the main bus terminus, with all useful services, shops and supermarkets and just 4 km from the sandy beaches of the gulf of Lacona. For golfers, the Acquabona Golf Club is just a short distance away.
Interior:
Casa del Duca is built on a sloping terrain across two floors, in addition to a basement level where the laundry room is located with external access. The main entrance on the ground floor leads (via 1 step) into the dining room, which leads left (up two steps) to the kitchen and right into a small hallway. From the kitchen, there is access to the outdoor dining area (down three steps). Continuing onward, there is a study and the living room, offering a view of the Portoferraio bay. From the living room there is access to a double bedroom with a canopy bed and an en suite bathroom with a shower. From the hallway in the entrance, two staircases branch off. Through a descending ramp of 9 steps, you reach two twins, one with joinable beds and direct access to the garden, sharing a bathroom with tub (and shower hood). Moving up to the upper floor via an internal staircase, there is a double bedroom with a view overlooking the Portoferraio bay, accompanied by a dressing room and an en suite bathroom with tub. Additionally, there is a bedroom with bed 1.40 m wide featuring a terrace and en suite bathroom with a shower. Plese note: the fireplaces are ornamental. Air conditioning only in the bedrooms.
Park:
From a paved road, you reach the entrance gate of the villa, After passing through it, up to two cars can be parked; climbing four steps leads to the main entrance of the villa through the outdoor dining area. Through an internal path, you can access the spacious parking area located on the other side of the park, which has a secondary entrance. The park spans across a hilly terrain of 5000 square meters, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.This large green area is enriched by tall trees, including cypresses, pines, almonds, bushes and a beautiful citrus grove, as well as more than 100 olive trees. In front of the main entrance to the villa is a barbecue and a large wrought-iron gazebo, equipped with a dining and seating area, perfect for outdoor meals and relaxing moments in the cool.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
In the garden area which overlooks a large and panoramic landscape, surrounded by a picturesque pinewood bestowing a magical atmosphere over the entire complex, is the swimming pool, reached 100 m from the villa across the garden. The rectangular pool, measuring 6 x 13 m with the depth varying from 0.90 to 2.20 m, is lined in PVC with a light stone edge and has chlorine purification and internal lighting, allowing it to be used in the evening and at night as well. The surrounding solarium area is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and a cold-water shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.
