Tenuta Esdra, named from the district of the same name in Pontecorvo, is in the Liri Valley surrounded by the Ausoni Mountains, within the Aurunci National Park. The property was acquired by the current owners in 2008, realising their dream of creating an heaven of relaxation by combining nature, simplicity and tradition. The two structures, built in the early 1900s, were completely renovated conservatively in 2016, creating solutions respecting the environment and nature. The estate covers about twenty hectares, largely dominated by centuries-old oaks, pines, olive trees and cultivated land. A pristine place that smells of history and feeds on modernity with the pride of the property being the spa with pool/hydromassage, sauna, Turkish bath and emotional shower (on request). Rooms equipped for massages (available on request) and changing rooms with showers complete this large wellness area, a welcoming and relaxing environment where you can find your psychophysical balance. The villa is divided into two, externally-communicating, buildings: the main building with living room, veranda and a large terrace where you can relax with a group of friends or family, the professionally-equipped kitchen in the basement, able to satisfy all the guests' requests and all modern requirements, and eight bedrooms with bathroom; the spa building with Turkish bath and sauna and another three bedrooms with bathroom, and massage rooms (available on request). The outdoor area is organised so as to allow guests to enjoy alfresco dining or to relax on the lawn or by the pool, well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and small tables. The private and secluded position of the property guarantees discretion and silence to those wishing to spend a relaxing stay immersed in the characteristic rural countryside of Ciociaria. From the property you can easily reach the A1 motorway and undertake numerous itineraries dedicated to nature, typical gastronomy and history: the beautiful Abbey of Montecassino, with historical relics dating back to the Second World War, is located just 32 km away and the Pastena Caves with their incredible scenery are about 25 km away. The town of Pontecorvo is just over 3 km away and offers all basic services and shops, bars and restaurants that will delight visitors with the food and wine specialties of the area.
Interior:
The property consists of the main body of the structure and an annex, used in part as a spa and wellness area (on request). SPA with pool/hydromassage (35 degrees). The SPA will have two accesses, the first from 9:00 to 13:00 and the second from 15:00 to 19:00. MAIN BUILDING: Once past the main door, to the right of the small entrance hall is the bar area with cosy bar counter and access to the living and dining area. Three French windows lead out to the veranda and the large terrace. From the dining area a staircase leads down to the basement with the professional kitchen and a guest bathroom. To the left of the entrance hall is a corridor with a laundry room, a double bedroom with private bathroom (with shower suitable for people with disabilities), a children's room with bathroom with shower, and access to the outside. At the beginning of the corridor are stairs leading up to the first floor with three double bedrooms and two single bedrooms (one with queen-size bed), all with private bathroom with shower. Three bedrooms also have a private terrace. The stairs then lead up to the second floor with two large double bedrooms, both with private bathroom, one with tub and the other with shower. ANNEX: on the ground floor is the wellness area (on request) with pool/hydromassage, sauna, Turkish bath, emotional shower and relaxation area. The floor is completed by two large changing rooms with shower and bathrooms. A covered external staircase leads up to the first floor with three double bedrooms, all with private bathroom with shower, one of which also has a private hydromassage tub. This floor is completed by two massage rooms (available on request).
Park:
The property is set in an estate of about 20 hectares, largely dominated by centuries-old oaks, pines, olive and fruit trees and cultivated land. Once past the entrance gate, a driveway of about 100 m leads to the large parking area and the main entrance of the villa. The beautiful garden, which extends around the villa for about 6000 sq m, is not fenced but bordered by hedges of boxwood and pyracantha and by an electric wire fence that delimits it from the rest of the vast estate. Extremely well-kept with large areas of lawn planted with phoenix and washingtonia palms alternating with oaks, cypresses and pomegranate trees and with scattered examples of stones and boulders of white carbonate stone, typical of the Ausoni Mountains. The area surrounding the buildings is characterised by flowering hedges, roses and a lawn next to the solarium area. The portico, equipped with armchairs and small tables, and the large terrace, with tables and chairs, face the solarium area on one side and the large green lawn on the other, the ideal place for outdoor dining.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The swimming pool is just a few metres from the main house and the annex and is reached from the veranda down a few steps. Rectangular and measuring 7 x 15 m with the depth varying from 20 to 170 cm, the pool is purified with chlorine and has Roman steps for access to the water. The surrounding solarium, paved in cemented stone slabs, is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, small tables and chairs and an outdoor shower. The pool area is easily accessible from the veranda, from the lawn and from the annex, and ensures a comfortable area and ease of movement. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.
