Located near the historic village of Polopos, this tiny home cabin is an unforgettable escape for those seeking a fresh look at Southern Spain’s breathtaking landscapes.



The Space:

De la Luz Ecolodge by Tiny Away, just 20 minutes from Motril and near the charming village of Polopos, offers a sustainable retreat filled with comfort and authenticity. Surrounded by the Sierra de la Contraviesa, guests can explore pristine hiking trails, watch curious mountain goats, and bike through the landscape.



When night falls, the Bortle Class 3–4 sky reveals a clear, rural darkness perfect for stargazing. The Milky Way stretches overhead, creating a breathtaking view that most people rarely experience. This setting is perfect for nature and history enthusiasts, with nearby attractions like La Mamola Beach, Castillo de Salobreña, and Parque de los Pueblos de AmĂ©rica.



A comfortable 159-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers).



Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the private plot where the tiny house is located, along with its immediate surroundings and the pool area. The hosts' private pool is available to guests for free and can be booked in time slots for privacy. While not heated, it’s pleasantly warm in summer. Due to the mountain location and stairs, it's not suitable for babies or strollers.



Guests are asked to check if the setting meets their personal or cultural needs, as we cannot guarantee specific accommodations.



We kindly ask to refrain from entering the land host's private property without prior notice or explicit permission. This is out of respect for privacy and to ensure everyone’s safety.



Please be aware that the owner’s dogs may be present and could be roaming freely on their private grounds.

De la Luz Ecolodge by Tiny Away is a sustainable retreat 40 minutes from Motril and near the historic village of Polopos, known for its whitewashed streets and deep Andalusian roots. Perched in the Sierra de la Contraviesa, the ecolodge connects to Southern Spain's beauty. Discover the area's tradition and nature, from vineyards and olive groves to hiking trails that weave through the mountains and open up to views of the Mediterranean coast.



Our local recommendations:



- Parque de los Pueblos de América is a botanical garden celebrating cultures. This expansive park features themed areas inspired by countries across the Americas, showcasing unique flora and sculptures.

- Castillo de Salobreña is a historic fortress offering views of the Mediterranean and surrounding areas. This Moorish castle, rich in history, features well-preserved towers, courtyards, and ancient walls.

- Castillo de Guardias Viejas is a restored 18th-century fortress overlooking the Alboran Sea. Once a coastal defense against pirates, it now serves as a historical site featuring cannons and exhibits.

- La Mamola Beach is a peaceful stretch of coastline ideal for unwinding by the sea. Its coarse sand and crystal-clear waters are framed by the rugged Sierra de la Contraviesa mountains.

- Calle Sierra de Contraviesa is a scenic street that captures the essence of rural Spanish charm. Surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, it offers views of the Sierra de la Contraviesa mountains.



Getting Around:

By Car:



- From Granada: Approximately 1 hour (90 km) to the ecolodge.

- To Polopos: A short 8-minute drive (8.1 km) from the ecolodge.

- Road Conditions: The site is accessible by a 2WD vehicle.



By Public Transport:



- From Granada or Motril:

- Nearest Bus Stop: There is no direct bus to Polopos. Guests can take a bus to La Mamola (10 km away) and arrange a taxi or local transport for the remaining distance.

- Nearest Train Station: Located in Granada, 90 km away. From there, buses to Motril or Almuñécar are available, followed by local transport to Polopos.



By Flight:



- Nearest Airport: Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport (GRX), located about 95 km from the ecolodge.

- From the airport, rent a car or take a bus to Granada, then follow the driving or public transport directions above.



Distances to Nearby Towns:

- La Mamola (10 km): 15 minutes by car via A-4131 mountain road.

- Castell de Ferro (20 km): 25 minutes by car along the coastal routes.

- Motril (30 km): 40 minutes by car. Driving or a taxi is recommended as there’s no direct public transport.

Guest advisory:



This type of accommodation is not suitable for guests with a severe fear of heights.



Please note that the tiny house stands 4 meters tall and is located on a mountainside, where it can occasionally get quite windy. Rest assured, the structure is completely safe, securely anchored, and perfectly level.



Due to its elevated position, you may feel the wind and notice a slight movement of the house during gusty conditions. This is entirely normal and nothing to be concerned about. The tiny house is specifically designed to withstand such elements safely.



Air Conditioning Usage

- The air conditioning is available during the day between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

After 7:00 PM, the air conditioning can only be used upon request, as it requires switching on additional generator power.

- We kindly ask you to inform the host if more air-conditioning time is needed, so we can arrange this for your comfort.



Important note:



- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban

- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas

- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
