I booked this hotel based on its four-star rating on Expedia and high guest reviews, but I feel the ratings may be misleading, and I regret not paying more attention to the negative reviews, as they turned out to be more accurate.
There is no dedicated parking at the hotel, and youâll find yourself parking in the surrounding sketchy neighborhood, which is not ideal particularly at night. The area, which is near Temple University, feels unsafe and there are abandoned buildings across the street from the hotel.
I use the term âhotelâ loosely, as the place doesn't offer the experience one might expect from a four-star establishment. There is no traditional front desk service, as check-in is handled by someone from a third-party company, and check-in consists of signing in on a legal pad. The stale atmosphere in the common areasâboth in terms of smell and aestheticsâleft a lot to be desired.
Given the overall disappointing conditions, I chose not to even enter the room and immediately requested a refund, which was unfortunately denied.
If you're a young traveler looking for a basic, no-frills place to sleep and donât mind the area, this hotel might work for you. However, if youâre seeking a more refined experience or planning a romantic getaway, I would advise looking elsewhere.
