Janies Cottage- Eclectic Interiors & Vintage charm
Summary:
Located in the heart of Mousehole Janies Cottage (former home of Janie Pender) is a Cornish bolt hole perfect for couples and small families. Tucked away on a peaceful little row of granite cottages, you are a pebble's throw from all that Mousehole has to offer, including great restaurants such as â2 Fore Streetâ and the harbour itself with lovely sandy beaches and quaint little shops. Janies cottage feels like a home away from home and is very atmospheric and peaceful.
The Space:
This beautifully renovated traditional cottage is set over 2 floors, with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. The primary bedroom has a king-size bed, bedroom two has two singles and the 3rd also a single bed.
The cottage is fully equipped for dining in around the big wooden table in the kitchen diner but is also well located for eating out every day as youâre really spoiled for choice in Mousehole.
Parking is close by and you can park at the Habourside carpark for ÂŁ5 for 24 hours.
There is no Garden at Janies sadly but her front steps make a great spot to sit and have a coffee first thing as the sun peeps though the rooftops. At the end of the day make sure you cosy up in front of the log burner with a good book or enjoy a film on the smart TV. Janieâs caters for younger children as well, a high chair and travel cot are included as well as a range of books and toys.
If you want to travel further afield by car St Ives is 10 miles away where you will find all sorts of activities and places to eat. For the ultimate experience head to the Minack Open Air Theatre at Porthcurnow and take in one of the fantastic shows.
Guest Access:
The whole cottage will be solely for you, and your family during your stay.
The Neighborhood:
We recommend The Coastguard Hotel if you really want to splash out, make sure you try their signature cocktails!
As well as just taking it easy during your stay if youâre more the outgoing types there are a great selection of walks on the South West Coast Path. Head East toward Newlyn or if youâre really adventurous head West to Lands End or even as far as Sennen Cove.
Provisions
There is a great deli and general store thatâs just 1 minute walk from Janieâs Cottage â No.1 Deli Stores
(run by 2 Fore Street restaurant).
They have local milk in reusable bottles, great coffee, bread, pastries,
eggs, vegetables, a range of meat, wine and essentials including logs and kindling. Itâs usually open
Monday â Saturday 9am- 3pm, longer hours likely during the peak summer season. 12pm.
The nearest supermarket is Co-op in Newlyn and there is a Sainsburyâs Superstore and Tesco in
Penzance along with another Co-op, a Morrisons on Eastern Way and a large Lidl on Western
Promenade Road, Penzance.
Eating & Drinking in Mousehole and beyond

The Ship Inn is a lovely old traditional
village pub with local beers and spirits, food and live entertainment. The pub kitchen shuts at 8.30pm.
2 Fore Street has an excellent menu and lovely garden which was renovated in 2021. Worth booking in advance if you want to guarantee a table.
The Old Coastguard has a bar and dining rooms which serve delicious food and overlook recently renovated lawned gardens lined with palm trees and looking out to St Clements Isle. The Sea Terrace is lovely and during 2021, theyâve been working on a food and drink shack in the garden. NOTE: very popular so advance booking highly recommended.
Hole Foods Deli and Cafe has great coffee, wines and a fresh food counter as well as meals served at the table. They now have more space and tables upstairs and open 8am for breakfast until late most days.
The Rock Pool is a café not far from the harbour, has wonderful views and is great for lunch, cream
teas and cakes. As you look out to sea, itâs to the left of the harbour past the larger car park and sits on a cliff above a natural swimming pool.
In Newlyn, youâll find great seafood at Mackerel Sky and Ben Tunnicliff's Tolcarne Inn as well as a lovely bar at the independent Newlyn Filmhouse During the high season,
Jelberts is open for
delicious ice cream made fresh every day in Newlyn.
Lovettâs is a wonderful coffee and wine bar in the
heart of Newlyn with excellent coffee, wines and more.
