Welcome to Vigla, our stunning hilltop retreat on the picturesque island of Paxos. Renovated in 2025- The house boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Corfu and the mountains of the mainland and Albania floating above the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Lakka bay and (so all the locals tell us) THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEW ON PAXOS.
Sitting on the southerly jaw of Lakka bay, Vigla (meaning âLook Outâ) is just a short walk into Lakka village, yet very private with no onlookers and unbroken sea views.
Our hilltop location is one of (if not the) the best spots on the island to watch the sunset. You'll be able to witness the sky turn from bright orange to deep pink as the sun pluges into the Ionian every evening. It's always a magical moment.
The terrace is huge! Over 200 square meters. Ideal for Sunset gatherings or mini Yoga retreats. We live out on the terrace and hist our friends for sunset's most evenings.
An 8 minute walk along the dock into the village & 4 minute walk through the large cliff edge garden to some very private rocks where you can plunge into the Ionian Sea and swim or walk to Lakka,Arkodaki and Orkos beaches.
The house features expansive windows throughout, allowing you to take in the stunning vistas from every angle. The main house features the kitchen/living space which opens onto the large terrace and upstairs master bedroom / bathroom.
The Spitaki (guesthouse) is a separate building across the courtyard, with bathroom and garden and sea views- the beds can be arranged as 2 large singles or a king.
The Studio (One double bed ) can be used as a third double bedroom or office/ media studio. The owner is music producer and uses it as a writing studio.
Vigla was built by famous Sunday Times travel journalist and author Mark Ottaway who traveled and wrote extensively about Greece. Chief travel writer at The Sunday Times for 30 yrs and having published the book â The most beautiful villages in Greeceâ he decided his favourite island was Paxos where he bought land and built Vigla in his favourite location on the isle.
This really is a very special location and now itâs renovated with huge windows to maximise the fantastic vista.
All rooms have new a/c. All appliances are brand new.
Patio has barbecue.

Guests will be likely be befriended by our cat Captain. If you donât like cats, we can have a word with him to give you some space :)
There is also a small sailing boat, a Drascombe longboat avail for an additional charge for those we are confident will know how to handle please POA at viglapaxos@gmail.com
POOL : Many people are looking for houses with pools on Paxos; as the island has a severe water shortage and one can literally fall from the garden into the sea, we have never felt any need whatsoever for a pool.
The garden is an olive grove descending over many terraces where there are several hammocks and shaded reading nooks.
At the bottom of the garden one can turn left to walk down past the old school house along the dock into Lakka or right down the path to the sea.
Behind the house where there is parking for 2 cars , one would drive through Mougkelatika to the rest of the island. Itâs quicker to walk to Lakka. We donât use the car much.
