This cottage underwent a re-model in Spring 2022 to accommodate up to 6 overnight guests with two bedrooms and one full bath. All new windows added in 2024. City water added! Fully stocked kitchen with granite countertops and new appliances. You will find a Smart TV in the living room as well as a sunroom overlooking the water for all your lake views! Relax outdoors on your private deck or park your water toys on your private dock. You will find all you need for a relaxing getaway in Northern Michigan at The New Retreat!

Everything was wonderful. It was cozy and nicely lit decorated. Dorene was wonderful. I had left some things and she so graciously made arrangements to mail the items to me. It is a wonderful, peaceful home with a fabulous dock. We are coming back for our honeymoon.

This property was very cute, well appointed and cozy. We loved being right on the lake- so relaxing we only left once over the 3 days we were there to get ice cream! Great, responsive owner. Loved having the dock right on the water to sit one and relax. Lake is a little yucky- murkey, mushy bottom up close to shore, and then so weedy farther out. Great boating lake though

Perfect Getaway

This Cottage is adorable. The furnishings and remodel are beautiful. Plenty of places to sit in living room or seating outdoors. Bath supplies provided and dual Keurig/Coffee Pot with pods or grounds provided. Quiet waterfront where we watched the boats go by, fished and enjoyed nature. Really impressed with this Cottage. Definitely want to return for future visit.

Wonderful place to relax and unwind while seeing magnificent Lake Huron

All 4 of us enjoyed the peaceful surroundings From relaxing at the fire pit or on the dock, to fixing meals in the kitchen and on the gas grill, our stay here was just what we needed. The view of Lake Van Etten from inside and outside was gorgeous! Comfy beds! Dorene was a very responsive host! Close to everything we wanted to do!

Quiet, cozy. Beautifully decorated. Everything I needed was there. It was nice to wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck watching the sunrise. Close to everywhere you need to go.

Adorable cottage. Very clean looks exactly as pictured. Peaceful coffee on the back deck was so nice just hearing birds and looking at the lake. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

My family and I absolutely adored the cottage and the peaceful town it was situated in. The view was breathtaking and the cottage itself was immaculately clean and charming. We felt right at home and were able to prepare all of our meals in the kitchen, which we enjoyed on the patio overlooking the lake. The locals were incredibly friendly and spending time by the beach was exactly what we needed to rejuvenate. I cannot speak highly enough of the host - she was incredibly responsive and kind, ensuring that our stay was flawless. We are already looking forward to returning in the future!

The perfect Lakehouse getaway

We absolutely loved our stay here. Exactly what we were looking for. Fishing, beautiful views, cozy coffee spot and close to the beach. The sunroom was everyone’s favorite spot. Our three kids loved the big upstairs bedroom that stayed cool and quiet for a midday nap. Well stocked kitchen cabinets had anything you might have forgotten. Five star for sure!
