About this space
Escape to The Outback — a secluded log-cabin-style lean-to tucked deep in the Maine woods on the shoreline of Craig Pond. Enjoy your own private granite rock beach, peaceful waterfront views, and total privacy with no nearby neighbors. This off-grid retreat includes a newly built 6’x6’ composting toilet outhouse and direct access to your own canoe, swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water under the trees. Rustic, quiet, and intentionally unplugged.

The space
The Outback is a rustic waterfront lean-to designed for guests seeking privacy, quiet, and an authentic Maine wilderness experience. Set deep in the woods along the shoreline of Craig Pond, the site offers a rare level of seclusion with no nearby neighbors and direct access to the water. Guests can relax on the private granite rock beach, swim, fish, kayak, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature from camp.

The property includes a handcrafted log-cabin-style lean-to and a newly built 6’x6’ composting toilet outhouse nearby. It also includes your own canoe to use during your stay. While intentionally simple and off-grid, the experience is centered around the natural beauty of the land, water, and surrounding forest. Expect peaceful mornings, dark night skies, and a true unplugged retreat in the Maine wilderness.

Guest access
Guest access to The Outback is part of the adventure. Guests may either hike approximately 3/4 of a mile along wooded camp trails to reach the lean-to, or paddle along Craig Pond using the canoe provided with the reservation. Canoe access begins from the main campground area and offers a scenic approach directly to the site by water.

Due to the secluded nature of the property, there is no direct vehicle access to the lean-to. Guests should plan to pack accordingly and be comfortable with a short hike or paddle to camp.
