We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely home in Orick while visiting the Redwood’s, and loved it! If you are looking for peace and quiet, and views for days, this is the perfect spot! Bring your food, there’s no real options in that area, but we knew this ahead of time and stopped at Costco in Eureka on our way up. The lack of restaurants was more than made up for by the location. There’s a beach just at the end of their road that became maybe our favorite part of the vacation. It’s stunning and we had the entire beach to ourselves the 4 times we went over there. And we saw seals just chilling on the sand (with babies) two evenings in a row. The house is great, clean and nice and had great views of the green pasture and surrounding mountains and cows (no smell, just pretty views). Just at this house we saw deer, frogs, rabbits, birds, hummers, flowers and of course horses and cows. This house was the absolute perfect spot to head right into Praire Creek SP or Redwood’s NP, still a drive to the other two, but a beautiful drive!! The hosts were so welcoming and super responsive, though we only had one question (yes, they had a cooler available to borrow), otherwise we had everything we needed for our family of 4 (parents and two young adult sons). The hosts had lots of extra touches - spare rain ponchos, fooseball, corn hole, internet and tv, a high quality gas powered barbecue, all the kitchen supplies needed, and lots of chairs for relaxing inside and out.

We had a great stay! The proximity to the Redwoods was the driving factor for booking this house but it ended up being better than expected. We enjoyed riding the bikes down to the beach multiple times and even saw seals on one trip. The house was clean and comfy, the kitchen well stocked and we made use of the games in the garage. We got groceries on the way in as suggested and I’m glad we did, there isn’t much around; except for the cows that greet you every morning! Also try the local Mojo pizza if you get a chance.
The sunroom is the perfect place for morning coffee.
Seals!
Riding the bikes to the beach was our favorite part.

This is a great location for accessing the most impressive ancient forest on the planet. 20 world class hikes within a 10 min drive. Bonus...beach access is just a 3/4 mile stroll away. Love it.

The place was perfect for our party of 4. A bucolic setting less than a mile from the beach. It affords quiet evenings with spectacular star gazing. The interior decor is modern, clean, and impeccably tasteful. And, it's just minutes from the majestic redwoods. All in all, we heartily recommend this property.

Perfect location for Redwoods hiking

We had a great experience staying at the Coastal Farmhouse. It’s so close to Prairie Creek Redwoods! We spent our first 3 days hiking various trails and basking in the beauty of the Redwoods. It’s truly breathtaking. We took the bikes to the ocean which the “kids” labeled the bone yard because of the incredible amount of washed up trees and branches there. You do need to walk over those to get to the beach/ocean. Again just amazing. Plenty of activities and games provided to play in the evenings. We bought some fire wood in town and cooked over the fire one night. Coffee on the porch every morning to watch the fog roll out and the cows graze. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking our meals. No dishwasher so we did have a lot of dish washing with 6 people eating most meals at the house. Great little Pizza truck just down the drive! Murphy’s in Trinidad was our go to grocery stop-great local store! We also really enjoyed the zoo with the elevated walkway. The staff there were so helpful and knowledgeable. We also drove up to Jedediah Smith Redwoods to hike and swim in the Smith River. Great trip with lots of memorable experiences at a great location that’s very secluded feeling.

We enjoyed the farmhouse with its country location yet close proximity to many of the things we wanted to explore. Our 9 yr old enjoyed all the games to play in the evening.The house itself was beautiful, clean and spacious. It was a great choice for our family.

LOVED!! this place

My entire family loved the house. The views are breathtaking and the house is so cute. This house is equipped with everything you would need in the kitchen, bathroom, ALL ROOMS. In addition there are a variety of games for all ages that you and your family can enjoy. The house in addition to redwoods made our vacation a memorable experience.

In general we shy away from houses handled by property management companies, but Vacasa does everything right and made this a very pleasant stay. The house has been thoughtfully modernized with some great furniture and a well-stocked kitchen. Besides the proximity to the redwood parks, you can walk less than a mile to a nearly deserted beach.

Loved the layout of this home. Plenty of opportunities to communicate with the family. Plus lots of board games and card games. The pool table and ping pong table were nice entertainment and the kids loved riding the bikes down to the beach.

A great spot!

Loved the location! While there aren’t amenities in Orick, Trinidad is an easy drive and had great food and a grocery store. We also loved how easy it was to get to the redwoods (awesome trails just 10 mins away) and the beach down the dirt road. We were surprised that one of the bedrooms is upstairs in a converted attic — that wasn’t obvious from the listing. It’s up some steel stairs, with a door down at the bottom of a hallway. Wouldn’t recommend kids or elderly use that room.

Charming house among cows and mountains and redwoods.

This house was absolutely wonderful. The location is like something out of a storybook. You drive by a farm to get there, and the porch has a view of the cows in the field, yet it is totally private. There are mountains around the house and we watched the clouds clear out of the redwoods as the day went by. The kids played croquet on the lawn and loved the ping pong. The house is decked out with so much wonderful furniture. There are couches and soft chairs, tables and lamp everywhere, it gives is a really comfortable homey feel. There are plenty of places to set your backpacks and hang your purse, jacket, etc. It's a really roomy house and we all felt like we had private space to rest. There is a sunroom with a super comfortable daybed that was lovely to lounge on. There are a ton of great books and games. It is right in the Redwood forest and getting to Tall Tree Grove trailhead, which we went there to hike, was convenient and a beautiful drive. The nearest grocery store is far away, so plan accordingly. We would love to stay here again and again!

This property is spacious and beautiful! I would not hesitate to book again! We found that the beach was not walkable, but close to drive to. The bikes had flat tires so that was a bummer. The location was great for checking out the Redwood State and National Parks. This information does not affect my recommendation to book this property! I highly recommend you book it! However, just as an FYI, bring all your groceries— including spices, condiments, laundry detergent (if you need to do laundry) and tin foil/baggies/saran wrap with you when you come. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen cookware etc. but nothing else. Again, I am not saying this property should provide these items, but I just want to help future guests. Also, there isn’t a store close by to run and grab something.

Great if you want to get away from everything

Came up here to visit the redwoods and simply get away from the city. This place was great for both. Multiple redwood parks within an easy drive. Surrounded by cows and pastures with a short walk to the ocean it was quite a relaxing stay. The house was well stocked and we were able to cook our meals with ease in the kitchen. That being said... definitely want to being your own groceries as there isnt a decent grocery store for some drive. (There is a convenience store with basic stuff at the end of the road though). Easy check in. Would stay here again

spacious, comfortable, clean, lots of places to sit and hang out, quiet location, close to the beach, everything you need - even a water filter in the fridge which is a huge plus. next to cows if that bothers you for any reason but we liked them! 10/10 would recommend and stay there again.
