Beautiful Lakeside Cottage on Quiet Street with Private Dock, Kayaks & Fire Pit

Lakeside Cottage is most definitely your “home away from home”! This quaint property is a 3BR 2 bath cottage directly on Deep Creek Lake with stunning water views from almost every angle of the home. This cottage is perfect for small families and couples. Situated 50 feet back from the lake with 150 feet of shore line, you can enjoy coffee, drinks or meals on the lake front deck in this private peaceful setting. Beautiful tall trees provide nice shade from the sun, but they won’t spoil your view! Conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Swallow Falls State Park and not quite 15 minutes to Wisp Resort as well as many restaurants, shopping, and the movie theater. There is so much to enjoy close by during every season here in Deep Creek Lake. Summer fun will surely be had by all as you spend lazy days boating, swimming, fishing and lounging on the private dock* with deep water access. In the evening, gather the family and the marshmallows and spend time around the fire pit recapping your daily adventures. In the winter after downhill skiing, cross country skiing, or ice fishing, unwind inside by the stone fireplace. The home is located near the end of a no outlet street, which makes it very peaceful and pleasant for walking and bike riding up and down the street without traffic.

This lakefront property has been in the VRBO family since December 2021 and it has received 90 total reviews prior to our buying it, every one of them 10/10 reviews. I was unable to transfer reviews from the past owner, but rest assured, I am excited to carry on this high quality standard and welcome our guests with warm hospitality and to be there for any questions, concerns or issues or recommendations.

Are you a returning guest to the cottage? Here’s what is familiar: The same wonderful cottage that was updated in the past several years with an additional full bath, 3 bedrooms, a modern kitchen and an open floor plan. Looking out the sliding glass doors, it will look and feel like the water is just beyond the deck. And with your neighbor’s homes set back much further than yours, they are out of your sight line giving you a you a fairly private lakeside experience.
What is new since we bought the cottage in April 2024? A new dock, accessibility to 3 kayaks and a paddle board, new beds and bedding, a workspace in the bunk room, all new small kitchen appliances and cooking and dining ware, and stocked with spices and oils.

This is our third time at this house, and second time with this owner/host. The place is adorable and perfect for our small family, and its in a great location in Oakland with wonderful waterfront. Its better than the pics. The host is one of the best we've had via VRBO (we rent houses about 4-5 times a year). Beds are super comfy and the kitchen has anything you need. Highly recommend!

My husband, girls (11 and 13), and I loved our vacation to Deep Creek Lake at Lakeside Cottage! Sandra was the ultimate host; the home was clean, well-stocked, luxurious, cozy, and beautiful. Top notch bedding, sheets, kitchen utensils... everything you would need! Along with the thoughtful welcome gifts, she even gave us a little itenerary of places to eat and things to do for our specific rental dates; which as a busy working mom with little time to plan was so very appreciated and helpful! We enjoyed many hours on the private floating dock fishing and boat/people watching and at the fire pit laughing and enjoying the view. When we did pull ourselves away from the comfy cottage we enjoyed the downtown shopps, so many restaurants, hiking, and jetskis rentals! One of our best trips yet, and definitely one of the best rentals we've had. If my pre-teen girls are impressed, then you know its good. Cant recommend enough, would love to come back and enjoy Lakeside Cottage again. Thank you!!

One of the most Memorable Vacations!!

Our stay was July 12 thru July 17 2025.. Mom, Dad, 2 sons, daughter in-law, future daughter in law and our precious granddaughter. We were celebrating Dads 60th and granddaughters 1st birthdays. The house was perfect in every way. My family was so comfortable, it felt like home. The property was so nice and the view was picture perfect looking at the lake. My sons caught fish every day and we all swam, floated, paddle boarded and kayaked off the dock in the clear beautiful water. We rented a pontoon boat for 2 days and enjoyed wake boarding, swimming off the boat and floating on tubes. We took the boat to a restaurant for a lake side lunch then boated over for some ice cream and even picked up donuts by boat for the morning. We ventured into town to the farmers market to pick up fresh veggies and homemade jam to take home. The weather was great with just a little rain but we had board games to pass the time. We had camp fires every night, lots of laughs, a few s’mores and just good family time. My grand daughter who is 11 months old took her first steps on the back deck which was witnessed by all. Priceless!! We took great family photos and will have cherished memories for a life time. Thank you to our host family for sharing your beautiful home with my family. We had such a wonderful stay at the Cottage! Communication with owner was very responsive. We had 7 adults and we all fit nicely. It’s on a nice quiet street and not more than 10 minutes to anything you’d want to do or need. We received a very nice welcome pack with stuff for smores, coffee etc. Everything in the house looks brand new and was super clean. It was well stocked with everything you need. The view from the deck and fire pit was great. Plenty of chairs for everyone. We rented a boat for a few days which was well worth the price to navigate the lake and tube. When we come back to this beautiful lake we will stay here again!!

Perfect Getaway

I stayed here for a long weekend with my husband and 4 year old son and we had such an amazing time. The location is perfect to several restaurants, activities, and shops. The views of the lake and the waterfront at this house are beautiful. The walk from the house to the lake is short and level. If you're into fishing, my husband was super successful right off the dock and shore here. The house itself is cozy and updated. I've stayed at many VRBO rentals and none have the amount of amenities and special touches as this place. The owners thought of pretty much everything, and they were very responsive even though they were out of the country during our stay. The only complaint we have were that the living room couches were a bit small for my 6'2" husband, but that won't stop us from coming back. My son didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back again and again.

My family came to deep creek lake and I stumbled on this gem of a property! We booked this place and the owner was so accommodating answering all our questions. Almost Heaven

We live in “Almost Heaven, West Virginia” and we’ve decided that Lakeside Cottage is “Almost Heaven, Maryland!” Let’s start with the view
.unbeatable! We didn’t have the best weather week, but truly for us it didn’t diminish our stay at all. Who could be disappointed looking out at the lake and trees just steps from the cottage. We were warm, comfy, and cozy while it rained and yes, snowed outside. From the moment we walked in, we felt comfortable and cared for. The hosts are amazing at trying to anticipate every need a visitor might need. The special gift basket was an extra plus! Communication with our hosts was great and actually they went above and beyond coming to our rescue when the battery in our car was dead upon check-out. We can’t tell you how much that meant to us. Lakeside Cottage is a special place. A place of peace, refreshment, and beauty. We hope to be back next year but if not, we have taken wonderful memories with us.

Not the weekend we expected

We started our weekend with rainy weather. It turned stormy. We eventually lost power. our host stayed in contact with us and tried her best to help us navigate the situation. We eventually had to leave early because of no running water. However, they gave us a full refund. We were disappointed that it wasn’t the trip we wanted. But our host made a challenging situation a little more bearable. Thank you for all you did. I would consider staying at this property in the future.

the property was as described, if not better. from the location to the lake, amenities, welcome gift, cleanliness and location to restaurants, parks, market, etc, this had it all. the kitchen is well stocked with space to gather for cooking, games or just talking with a group. everything we needed was already there so much more than other properties we've rented. the owner was quite responsive. it felt like home. we very much enjoyed our stay!

Amazing lakeside views from a beautiful home!

Lakeside Cottage was the perfect getaway for our family of five. The property has a breathtaking view of the lake, and we especially loved being so close to the water. We enjoyed spending time on the deck and around the fire pit. The amenities were convenient: kayaks and paddle board on the premises. The kitchen was extremely well appointed, and we enjoyed cooking for our family in a room with such a stunning view. The giant island was a great place to cook and eat together. The house is beautifully decorated, and all the beds were very comfortable. Loved the nice touches such as lots of throws and blankets, plus the laundry area and bathroom cabinets were stocked with a few extra items in case we forgot something. Also,the house is very close to Swallow Falls State Park, which we visited twice during our stay (short hikes, beautiful waterfalls). The owners were very responsive to our messages. We definitely hope to return for another stay!
