In the summer, pour yourself a glass of something special and enjoy the sunshine in the stunning courtyard, complete with all the furniture you need to dine al fresco in style. Ashburton is a vibrant market town and a perfect base for families and friends to explore the stunning Dartmoor National Park and the south Devon coast. There is no need to leave Ashburton except for the odd day trip to a sandy beach or to explore Dartmoor. Everything is on your doorstep from groceries (Ela’s artisan bakery; Dartmoor butchers; The Fish Deli; The Arc with organic foods. Entertain yourself at the Arts Centre in the evening after a lovely vegetarian/vegan supper in the foyer cooked by Rafiki’s restaurant. Or during the day take a picnic to the fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool and sunbathe on the generous lawns followed by a Creamo’s Craft ice cream just round the corner. In the summer St Lawrence’s chapel, a 600-year-old chantry is open to the public. Look out for the concerts and recitals which regularly take place.
