A perfect base for exploring this wonderful area around Northumberland and Tynedale. With generously proportioned rooms and great attention to detail throughout, Stable House is a wonderful retreat with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Here you can try and spot the red kites often seen in this area along with plenty of wildlife, or even sitting stargazing in the evening.
Stable House is one of four dwellings next to the main farmhouse on a small 18th century farmstead overlooking the Column of Liberty with beautiful views of the Derwent valley and the fabulous National Trust Gibside Estate. Should you wish you can wander through the meadow down to the River for some wild swimming, fishing or exploring miles of cycling and walking paths. On sunny days you may see the resident chickens and ducks around the place; the owner also has three beehives on the farm.
It is a lovely place to stay, set near the Derwent River, next to the Derwent Walk and the C2C cycle route. The countryside has lots of beauty spots for walking, running, cycling and swimming. An easy walk takes you to the village with a cafĂ©, small supermarket, chemist, hairdresser, beautician, florist, newsagent, fish & chip shop and micro pub. Stables Cottage is hidden in a quiet rural setting and itâs only a 10-minute drive to the A1 (North/South) and 15 minutes from A69 Hexham/Carlisle, 10 miles to Newcastle, 14 miles to Durham, 18 miles from the North Sea and 4 miles to the Metro Centre, an ideal place for a rainy day. A short walk takes you to the bus stop with regular buses to Newcastle, should you wish to leave your car behind and treat yourself to some Geordie hospitality in and around the popular city with a spectacular choice of restaurants, arts, culture and history.
Stable House can be booked together with Gardeners Cottage (UK3435) and Tiny House Railway Carriage (UK3436) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
