Neighbourhood

Located a couple of kilometres away from Lake Macquarie and nestled halfway between Newcastle and the Central Coast, Caves Beach offers its own unique appeal. Pristine sand and surf, a low-key, casual, easy, and family-friendly feel, with just the right amount of places to eat out and grab coffee and groceries, without the traffic or back-in-the-burbs dramas are some of the bonuses of this seaside village.

The neighbourhood shops, including the bakery, restaurants, and grocery stores, have everything you might possibly need. If you're craving somewhere with a little more shopping, Westfield Tuggerah is only half an hour's drive away and boasts over two hundred stores. There are, of course, smaller shopping centres between Caves Beach and Tuggerah.

Once you've finished shopping, there are plenty of activities to take part in that will get your feet wet. This neighbourhood is only a short drive to Sandy Beach Reserve, which offers netted areas of the lake making it safe for swimming. Here you'll also find BBQ facilities and a playground, making it a perfect location for a family adventure. Whether it's swimming, boating, fishing, or combing the beaches for shells and sea glass, there's something for everyone.

There are also plenty of activities for those who want to stay dry. Head to Marks Point and skydive, ride the rapids in a jet boat at Rafferty's Resort, or head to Newcastle to soar across the sky while hang-gliding. Not wanting to get the adrenaline pumping? Nature lovers will enjoy the stunning Watagan Mountains, home to waterfalls, spectacular rainforest gullies, bushwalking trails, and more. Another option is to head to the Munmorah State Conservation Area, with a variety of pristine beaches and walking trails, beautiful picnic spots, first-class fishing, and sweeping views on offer.
