The location of the house on the VRBO map is inaccurate. It is located directly below I-10. Overall the interior of the house was clean and generally worked well for us. The location of the house is not suitable for children or anyone that is not used to or comfortable being in close proximity unhoused people and drug use. Specific inaccuracies in the rental description: -Private pool: the pool appears to be shared by multiple units. There is no direct access to it from this rental, to access it one must walk around the house. -Balcony: there is no balcony that we could figure out how to access, not that you’d want to be outside. -Keurig: regular coffee pot, not Keurig-There are only 4 dining room chairs.-Entire home: description there is a second “separate” unit attached to the back of the home. Reality stairwell in the house with a no trespassing sign and a plywood board mostly covering the entrance with no way to secure this from inside the house.-The “fully stocked kitchen” had only 5 forks, and just a handful of glasses. Most were plastic. -Most problematic: “A lot of action in this neighborhood. At times it can be noisy.” Being directly under I-10 is the least of the noise. Music across the street at the highest volume with yelling (profanities) at all hours. The noise was intolerable at times. We witnessed drug use (smoking crack) on the sidewalk next to the house and across the street. When coming and going we were yelled at by people on the street.

Please research the location before booking! My family just returned from staying at “Claiborne Historic Mansion” for six nights. My issues are no fault with the inside of the home. The building inside is beautiful and the place is spotlessly clean and the beds are comfortable.But
This is not where you go for a luxurious weekend. It states up front that, "At times it can be noisy." There's no "at times" about it - the traffic/street noise is heavy expressway noise constant and continual, 24 hours a day. Day and night. This is particularly problematic in the front rooms of the house, including the two front bedrooms. You WILL hear intoxicated people yell obscenities and loud music, along with the traffic noise, while you try to sleep.The neighborhood is unsavory, at best
people loiter on the sidewalks and under the I-10 overpass at all hours.The five bedrooms are all upstairs and share three full baths, but one bath is downstairs (somebody gets to climb the 22 steps).In spite of the house being beautiful and clean with comfortable beds, between the unrelenting noise and sketchy neighborhood we feel this property is inappropriate for families
especially with children. We thought we were renting a charming “mansion” that would just have “some” freeway noise.

The house itself is beautiful and exactly what we were looking for our stay with 10 people. The location on the other hand was farther than what the booking made it seem from the French Quarter. Also mis leading when viewed on map. The reviews about the noise are not exaggerated the neighborhood is loud especially on game days and the sounds of the cars along the street and freeway is overwhelming at times. Yet the house rules ask you to be quiet by 10. Does not apply to the world around you. There were no incidents but the neighborhood is a little rough around the edges. With the free way over pass right in front of the house it is not much of a view. But the inside is clean, historic, and a real NOLA gem. Was a little disappointed in the communication as well. They forgot to mention somethings like how to get to the pool, the code for the gate and to get in the house. It took several communications to get everything and never used the pool because we didn’t get code until the 4th day of a 5 day stay

The house itself was great! Beautiful, big, and very clean! Communication with the owner and property manager was fast. We loved that we could bring our little dogs with us (corgi and dachshund)! Literally the only bad thing about the house is the location. It's in a very sketch area directly off a busy road and loud highway. I would reccomend parking on the side of the house or in the gated driveway. It was a fluke but our car was totalled in a hit and run after being parked in front of the front gate. So save yourself insurance headache and park on the sides of the house. Other that that we loved the house and it's history!!

Close to down town. Lots of character! Great communication. The area is a little concerning if you have kids. It faces an overpass. Many homeless in the area. Lots of activity at night. Don’t suggest going out at night. However, we didn’t experience any issues and the manager was very responsive.

10 of us stayed at this house for a birthday/bachelorette party in August. The AC downstairs worked great, but it was always warm and muggy upstairs. Upon arrival, the security system was easy to navigate and operate. They provided necessary kitchen items, beds were all comfortable, and towels were plentiful for all of us. The ceiling light in the living room didn't turn on, but there was a floor lamp that worked, and the couches in the living room were flimsy at best, one's back didn't stay in the upright position, so we just avoided that spot. Ubers were easy to find and use. Now the negative- this location is SKETCHY. The homeless community is plentiful, the noise after dark was astronomical all night, and the I10 garbage was insane. The "pool" (if you can call it that) is shared between this house (2 units) and the house next door (2 units), maybe even a 3rd house/unit? Needless to say, we did not enjoy this location, but the house itself was fine. You go to NOLA for the vibes and atmosphere, just don't spend too much time in the house. The communication of the host/property managers was great, they answered all our questions quickly and kindly. Read the description of the house, it states the street at the end of the description, the location dot is wrong.

Great property- clean- extremely spacious & well put together.Group of 10 young men in NOLA for a bachelor party- the neighbourhood was sketchy & dangerous at night. Pool is a shared space- not communicated online.

The hospitality was impeccable! We had people coming from 3 states and arriving at different times due to various airlines issues and the host was beyond accommodating!! We come to New Orleans for the history and the home definitely knocked that out of the park. A beautiful historic building just blocks off the French quarter. Be advised it’s in an area that’s noisy at night on the weekends but I feel that’s to be expected near the quarter. Host is very communicative and available if needed.

This house was gorgeous and very clean! The property manager responded quickly and clearly to any of our questions. We were able to park two cars in the gated driveway. We used Lyft and Uber to get around. We had a blast! Can’t wait to go back!

Mardi Gras 50th birthday

We stayed 3/2-3/5 for my hubs 50th birthday. The house was fantastic. So much space and personality. The only issue was the outside noise. We didn’t go to NOLA to sleep so it wasn’t much of an issue. We walked to the festivities with no issues. The house was great! We’d definitely stay here again!

The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the house was clean. The staff was very helpful and assisted us quickly in regards to parking. The neighborhood was loud in the evening- both traffic and people. We will use this service if we return to visit.

LOCATION NOT ACCURATE

This property is LITERALLY looking at the I-10 underpass. The “pin” for the location shows the property about 3 blocks away but that is not the case. The pin does not change after booking but with the address you can plug in to g00gle earth and see that the I-10 is in the front yard. A previous review actually brought my attention to this, and the property owner claims that he has alerted VRBO to this issue and that they have done nothing to remedy it. This area of town is not somewhere I would ever stay again, however I will say we did not have any issues aside from the constant noise and partying happening under the underpass. The house itself was fine - definitely old, but we knew that going in. The water pressure was the biggest issue, but we managed. I’m leaving a poor review simply for the fact that I felt/feel the location is completely misrepresented.

Highly recommended

Ten family members stayed for a long weekend to attend our daughter's wedding. The house was clean, the kitchen equipped, and the neighborhood convenient. It's an architecturally interesting old house. We enjoyed being able to walk to many activities and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
