Family Thanksgiving getaway

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The house was rustic, yet clean and well equipped. The fire pit and spacious grounds were awesome. We all enjoyed watching deer on the property in the mornings and evenings. The property was a great launchpad for all of the local attractions. I would highly recommend this property!

Perfect Getaway for a Girls Weekend

This VRBO was absolutely amazing! It was the perfect place for a girls’ weekend with family and friends to celebrate my sister’s and my birthday. The house was so charming and had everything we needed—and more! The location was ideal, making it easy to get to everything we wanted to do while still feeling like a peaceful country retreat. We were less than 10 minutes from anything we needed, but it felt like a hidden getaway. Truly the best weekend ever! I cannot recommend this place enough and would love to stay here again!

Concert weekend

We were in New Braunfels for the Z Z Top/Willie Nelson concert. I had my husband, our three adult kids, son-in-love, 9 week old grandson, sister-in-law and her family. We loved mornings watching the owl and six deer, grilled in the evenings, played horseshoes and shopped Gruene.

We loved River Road Retreat!

My husband, daughter and son-in-law stayed at River Road Retreat this past weekend. This quaint country home is so much better than the pictures. It feels like home away from home. The home is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The yard is well kept and so serene. We spent most of our time in Gruene. Great location! Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the outdoors. Everything was clean and in working order. Everything we needed was there. Plenty of parking for larger groups. Can't wait to go back.

Great Family Retreat

Our entire family stayed here this past weekend for my brother's wedding in Gruene. The house was able to accommodate all of us comfortably and it was conveniently located as well. The stay was overall great; the only "negative" piece of feedback is that it was cold outside and even though we had the heater on inside some of the rooms were still very chilly. Wasn't a deal breaker for us we just ended up needing to find extra blankets.

Birthday Get Away

We came to celebrate the August birthdays in our family and we enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, spacious, and welcoming. Even in the summer heat we enjoyed sitting on the porch having tea and sharing stories. The patio areas were great for late night relaxation and conversation. Our family ranged from ages 4-84 and we all enjoyed our visit. We were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities that the city of New Braunfels has to offer. Everything was a 10-20 minute drive from the house which was convenient. Also, there is a gas station and HEB not to far from the house for those of us that forgot a few essential items. We enjoyed our visit and plan to return in the fall to do some antiquing and shopping!

Graduation Gathering

My daughter was graduating from TXST and we had grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in from out of town. River retreat was absolutely awesome. There was enough room for all family and we were able to grill out for the celebration instead of trying to make reservations for 10-12 people. We played corn hike, ladder ball and watched deer from the back yard area. Even my 80 year old mom - who had never used itrip- said it was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend this property!

This home and location are the complete package! The warm, cozy, charming, tranquil atmosphere, both inside and outside, makes for a very comfortable stay! The rooms are spacious, and beautifully decorated with unique pieces that are interesting, soothing and inspirational! The kitchen is well-equipped for the needs of one or a group! The outside amenities allow for of a variety of games, cooking on the grill, or communing with nature (including watching for the regular visitors of deer and cardinals)! The distance to the other area amenities makes the River Road Retreat Farmhouse a wonderful place for a family to relax and enjoy the time together, and the area! Kudos to the owners who have thought of everything needed to make the RRR Farmhouse a wonderful place to stay! Thank you for providing this rental! Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time spent there!

You WANT to stay here!!!

We went to our State Art competition with 7 of our girls. We wanted to find a place they could bond, enjoy nature and just disconnect. The bunk room was a perfect place for them and each of the teachers had their own room. The girls LOVED the house. They were always watching for deer (which we saw), they had a blast making smores, playing Jenga.... I even saw them running around outside like they were kids again, exploring and playing cornhole. The house is so peaceful and in a PRIME LOCATION! So easy to get everywhere. We will always come back to this house for our event!! Oh, and the renters are the sweetest people!!! :) Thanks again for a great experience!!

50th Birthday Party

We all enjoyed your home to celebrate a few 50 year birthdays. It was the perfect spot to spend evenings after our country music excursions through hill country. This is probably the 4th -5th time at this property so I know it well. Always clean, great outside areas and close to Schlitterbahn and Comal river activities. If you have a larger group and don’t mind not being right on the river this house is good value for the money

Nice but a few needs

Overall the stay was good, the beds and all were clean and nice but there were some things that do need attention. Mainly the showers are almost all hot or no hot, both are the same so that should be looked at and also there is water damage around the vents in the kitchen with paint coming off. There was a musty smell when we arrived from going out that we suspect came from there. Great location to Gruene. We had a blast!
