Two Room Inn · Historic Victorian on Broad Street, Downtown Nevada City

The Two Room Inn is your own charming Victorian cottage located right in Downtown Nevada City, one of California’s most beautifully preserved Gold Rush towns. Step through the garden gate and you’re just feet from cafĂ©s, coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, galleries, wine bars, and everything that makes Nevada City one of the most loved destinations in the Sierra foothills.

Originally built as a miner’s cabin, the home evolved over the decades into the distinctive cottage it is today. Some locals remember it from its “Teddy Bear Castle” era, when an antique teddy bear collection connected to the American Victorian Museum lived here. The home has been lovingly cared for, preserving its redwood and elm interior, English stained glass, and cobblestone fireplace crafted from stones brought from Old San Francisco.

The Space

This historic cottage is full of character and charm, with unique architectural details and cozy spaces throughout. The layout reflects the home’s one-of-a-kind personality, blending vintage touches with everyday comfort. The kitchen is compact but fully stocked for simple cooking when you’re not exploring the many wonderful restaurants just steps away.

Guests enjoy multiple outdoor spaces including the front deck overlooking Broad Street and a private landscaped backyard with seating and a grill. Inside, the stained glass windows provide both beauty and privacy, creating a warm, peaceful feel even though you’re right in the heart of town.

Charming Victorian in the Heart of Town

This is one of the most unique properties we have stayed at in a very long time. The Two Room Inn is a charming Victorian in the heart of town, close to everything Nevada City has to offer. Everything is minutes away. The owner/manager was very responsive & answered all our questions before & during our stay. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone interested in exploring lovely Nevada City.

Wonderful Inn with a perfectly located in downtown Nevada City- cozy and comfortable

I visit Nevada City several times a year and this is my first time staying at the Two Room Inn. I have always admired it and was excited when we booked if for my husband, son, and I at Thanksgiving. Both my husband and son are over six feet tall so space is always a consideration when I’m looking for accommodations for us. The inn was perfect for us! The living area is so spacious and there’s a wonderful view of downtown. There is a coffee station which we took advantage of every morning- a big plus :) In warmer months I’m sure we would take advantage of the cute outside areas. One thing to consider is the location is not the quietest- but if you are in town that’s to be expected. We would definitely book the Inn again (as well as some of our other out of town family members as a few popped in to check it out) It’s unique, comfortable, the windows are beautiful and I loved the decor. The upstairs bed was very comfortable as well. There are two parking spaces which is a huge plus in town! The owner is very responsive if you have any questions . We didn’t have any issues and look forward to staying here again!

Lovely historical home in the heart of Nevada City

This is a wonderful historic home with all the modern comforts. You can enjoy the great 'bones' of a historic building, including beautiful stained glass windows, and distinctive views from the top of Broad Street over the historic district, as well as lovely, well-maintained furniture, modern kitchen and washer/dryer, and modern heating, lighting, Internet, etc. Many historical sites within easy walking distance. This is our second stay and I hope we will return again!

Winter Solstice Holiday

My family loves Nevada City and has visited on multiple occasions throughout the year. I've always wondered about the Victorian cottage on Broad Street and was excited to finally stay here. It is a charming and cozy place with stained glass, velvet drapes, framed pressed flowers, and wood furnishings. I loved walking to the shops and cages. It was also an easy commute for a day trip to Tahoe.

Wonderful historic home in downtown Nevada City

Two Room Inn is at the top of Broad Street in Nevada City, in the heart of the historic downtown. It's a Victorian building with charming interior and exterior, including many stained glass windows (we wonder if it was previously associated with the church next door, as a residence or hall). You can look out the windows or sit on the porch and watch Broad Street activity, or face into the garden with redwood trees. The furnishings are very comfortable and well-maintained, yet completely appropriate to the Victorian ambience. Kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and everything needed if you want to cook or just make a pot of tea. There's a modern washer and dryer, refrigerator, and gas stove. Bed in the attic bedroom is comfortable and cozy -- and overall, we never needed to change the pre-set temps for the heating, even though we were visiting as a cold storm front arrived. We were toasty! Modern fixtures in the bathrooms including shower/tub upstairs with modern tiling. Communications with the owner were great. Highly recommended.

A true gem in Nevada City. You can’t find a better location or more charm. The owner and property manager were both very responsive. I’d like to see better twin beds, this ol’ body does not do well on squeaky trundle bed. I love this house though, it is truly very special.

Great Place

We so enjoyed our stay in this quaint church/apartment. The stained glass was beautiful. The best things about this place were the character of the building, the kindness of the owner & manager, and most of all, the location. It was so easy to walk everywhere. Also the location gives you a view of the downtown. We would definitely stay here again.
