The peaceful village of Stretton-on-Fosse is a great base for visiting this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and boasts a village pub where you can meet the locals. There are many beautiful walks from the village and into the countryside. There is plenty to see and keep you as busy as you wish whilst staying in this area, including a visit to Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon with the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre, the historic university city of Oxford, Cheltenham, famous for its annual horse racing festival, Banbury and Cirencester. There are also many National Trust properties close by including Hidcote Gardens, Chastleton, Dovers Hill and Snowshill Manor and Gardens. There are many Cotswolds towns and villages worth visiting to experience Cotswold life and indulge at the country pubs, tea rooms and restaurants.
