"Casa da Malta" - environs d'Évora (30 km)

"Casa da Malta" est une dĂ©nomination rĂ©gionale, pour dĂ©signer un bĂątiment sĂ©parĂ© de la maison principale (p. ex: une grange), oĂč Ă©taient logĂ©s les travailleurs saisonniers, entre autres, les nommĂ©s “malteses”.
Nous avons donc baptisĂ© "casa da malta" un bĂątiment rebati en 2003 Ă  partir de ruines existantes, situĂ© Ă  cotĂ© mais complĂštement indĂ©pendant de la rĂ©sidence secondaire des propriĂ©taires, meublĂ© avec des meubles de famille, oĂč sont reçus les amis et des hĂŽtes occasionels.
Cette maison est situĂ©e sur un terrain de 23.500 m2, dans un environnement rural Ă  l’entrĂ©e du village d’Escoural (Commune de Montemor-o-Novo). Plans tipyquement de la rĂ©gion Alentejo – un seul Ă©tage, un long rectangle, porte e fenĂȘtres exposĂ©es Ă  l’est -- elle permet le confort d'une maison rurale de gros murs peints Ă  la chaux et de toutes petites fenĂȘtres (protection contre le froid mais surtout contre la chaleur en Ă©tĂ©). Vous pourrez contempler les Ă©toiles, vous promener Ă  pied, acheter le pain encore bien chaud,
et visiter Évora, ville patrimoine UNESCO situĂ© Ă  30 km.
Lors de votre séjour dans ce cottage, vous ne serez qu'à quelques minutes de Grotte d'Escoural. Parmi les prestations de cet hébergement, on compte une laverie. Ce cottage propose l'accÚs Wi-Fi à Internet gratuit et une cuisine.

TrĂšs bon accueil des propriĂ©taires, sympathiques et chaleureux. Logement propre , spacieux et bien Ă©quipĂ©. Les propriĂ©taires nous sont donnĂ©s de bons renseignements pour visiter la rĂ©gion, qui est trĂšs reposante car nous sommes au milieu d 'une campagne de chĂȘnes liĂšges et des moutons, et des villes avec des monuments historiques Ă  dĂ©couvrir. A lovely cottage in a lovely setting at the edge of the village.

Maria EmĂ­lia and Fernando were extremely welcoming. They provided everything you could possibly want, excellent facilities and very clean. They had even supplied lots of food to start us off and a few surprises later on! They were able to suggest places to visit and left us to enjoy our stay, though we could keep in touch if we had any concerns (which we didn't). We would thoroughly recommend this place for a peaceful stay (but you are in the countryside where animals don't always sleep at night!).

Fabulous location

The property is a beautiful traditional style cottage next to the owner’s property & surrounded by gardens & fields. There are plenty of private nooks to find to sit in to either enjoy the sun or to find some shade. The house itself is perfect, very comfortable with everything you need. Maria & Fernando were excellent hosts & provided a much appreciated welcome selection of bread, milk, cheese, fruit & wine for our first evening. Maria spoiled us with treats of pastries turning up on the doorstep whenever they were there. The cottage is on the edge of the village which is delightful & there are several decent supermarkets in the nearby town of Montemor. The location is perfect for visits to Evora & the pretty towns around & about all with their own castles. The castle at Montemor is one of the best although the guide books seem to dismiss the town. I can’t fault our stay, absolutely fantastic.

Delightful hosts

A great experience !! An old farm building converted to a comfortable and quaint guest house. We felt like we were transported back to Old Portugal. Our hosts were amazing and very attentive. A well stocked fridge and pantry awaited us along with a welcome bottle of wine. Each morning they delivered freshly baked pastries to enjoy with our coffee. We felt like we were in a rural setting yet it was only a few minute walk to some nice local restaurants. A truly unique experience !

Rural paradise.

We spent five wonderful nights and days, at this exceptionally hosted and well appointed holiday home. The most outstanding feature is the owners, who have over the years built a perfect rural retreat from almost nothing. Their generous nature and genuine care for their guests, shines in everything they do. Communication was excellent, by phone and in person, before and during our stay. Both Maria Emiliana and Fernando spoke English, much better than our Portuguese! We were welcomed by Fernando, who give us a fully comprehensive, personalised guide to the property. As others have said they set the highest standards of hosting both by their attention to the needs of their guests and the quality of the fixtures and fittings in the house. The bed and the bed linens were so luxurious that sleeping was a delight! The property sits on the edge of a small village but which, nonetheless, offers some shops and bars and restaurants. However, a larger town, Montemor, is just a short drive away where you’ll find two supermarkets that sell fresh foods and great wine selections too. If you’re looking for a calm and relaxing rural setting look no further. We recommend that you book this holiday home without any hesitation you won’t be disappointed.

Séjour mémorable en Alentejo!

Maria EmilĂ­a et Fernando sont des hĂŽtes tout simplement formidables. AttentionnĂ©s et gĂ©nĂ©reux, ils ont tout fait pour rendre notre sĂ©jour dans leur hacienda mĂ©morable. Le logement est spacieux et confortable, trĂšs bien Ă©quipĂ©; plusieurs terrasses et jardins invitent Ă  la dĂ©tente. Il y avait quelques provisions qui nous attendaient Ă  notre arrivĂ©e, en dĂ©but de soirĂ©e. Et que dire des surprises matinales laissĂ©es discrĂštement Ă  notre porte! Lovely place with great hosts.

Casa da Malta is a one bedroom private cottage with the owners living next door. The cottage was clean and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the shower and toilet were modern. We arrived Saturday evening to find out that shops were closed Sunday, and that Monday was a national holiday. We had brought a few groceries with us, but were amazed that Emilia and Fernando had stocked the cottage with coffee, eggs, bread, a few fruits and vegetables, cheese, a bottle of wine, beer and chips. It was also very much appreciated that the cottage was stocked with things that guests need in small supply but are rarely provided—coffee filters, plastic wrap, tin foil, and paper towels for example. There was even a pot of fresh herbs provided! We both love to cook, so this is a dream for us! If that wasn’t enough, there was a treat left outside our door every day- something local for us to taste and learn about. The fresh pomegranates sourced from their tree was a special treat! Fernando and Emilia are warm people and were happy to answer questions and provide help, but were also very respectful of their guests privacy. They obviously enjoy meeting people from around the world, and sharing the wonders of Portugal. Thank you Fernando and Emilia for a wonderful visit!

Wat een heerlijke plek om te verblijven! Het huisje is compleet ingericht. In de keuken ontbreekt het aan niets, de badkamer is mooi en er zijn binnen verschillende plekjes om te zitten. Natuurlijk is buiten zitten nog fijner en ook daar zijn verschillende plekken waar je heerlijk kunt genieten van de natuur of waar je kunt ontbijten/dineren. De omgeving van het huis is rustig, de plek is een goede uitvalsbasis voor verschillende tripjes. Fernando and Maria EmĂ­lia zijn fantastische hosts. Zij zorgen ervoor dat jij je als gast helemaal op je gemak voelt en ze doen er alles aan om je te helpen met vragen en je verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Elke ochtend stond er weer een kleine attentie klaar om de dag mee te beginnen. Wat een lieve, hartelijke mensen!

Ruhiges Alentejo mit tollen Gastgebern

Das Haus liegt am Ortsrand von Escoural, sehr lĂ€ndlich und mitten im Alentejo. Das ist ideal fĂŒr alle Ruhesuchenden, man muss aber unbedingt ein Auto haben, denn in der nĂ€heren Umgebung gibt es nicht viel. Im Ort findet sich allerdings alles fĂŒr den tĂ€glichen Bedarf und auch ein paar Restaurants. Die Unterkunft ist landestypisch und liebevoll eingerichtet, das GrundstĂŒck bietet viel Platz und Möglichkeiten zum Entspannen. Maria Emilia und Fernando sind die freundlichsten und herzlichsten Gastgeber die man sich wĂŒnschen kann. Sie zeigten sich ĂŒberaus flexibel bei einer kurzfristigen BuchungsĂ€nderung und gehen gerne auf die Anfragen der GĂ€ste ein. Außerdem ĂŒberraschten sie uns regelmĂ€ĂŸig mit frischem Obst oder kleinen Leckereien. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

If we could give 6 stars we would!

We had a most wonderful time during our stay with Maria Emilia and Fernando. They were the most welcoming hosts and have such a beautiful, well maintained property. The cottage was as advertised and more. It was very private and extremely clean and well equipped. We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday and our hosts made sure there was food available for us in case we weren't able to shop along the way. They also brought us Portuguese treats most every morning - all of which were delicious. The village is very quaint with a few cafes, restaurants, bakeries (make sure you get there early) and small mercados. It is conveniently located to many attractions - we visited Elvas, Monsaraz, Evora and several megalithic sites including the Escoural caves. Our hosts provided lots of helpful information about places to go and things to see. We very highly recommend Casa Da Malta and would happily book the property a second time.

Wonderful Stay in Escoural

Over the last nine years we’ve arranged medium- and long-term rentals for nine accommodations in Europe. Our 80 day rental of this cottage in Escoural was very special in every way: comfort, roominess, furnishings, well-stocked kitchen, bathroom with shower, washing machine, wifi, setting. But far and away what made it even more special were the owners Maria Emilia and Fernando Ribeiro. Their kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, company were well beyond a 5 on a 5-point scale. We cannot imagine more conscientious, helpful, attentive owners. Too, the location was excellent in every direction: the region rich in history, culture, nature; the area littered with megalithic sites for those interested; a hiker’s delight through villages, towns, fields, hills; the service town of Montemor 15 minutes away; the magnificent historical city of Evora 30 minutes away; Lisbon an hour and a half away. Our stay was excellent in all ways.

Everything we wanted and more

What a delightful rural cottage! The perfect spot to sit and read a book and relax, as well as convenient for day trips to nearby villages and historic sites. Maria EmĂ­lia and Fernando were the very best hosts, welcoming and helpful in every way, from the pastries left for morning coffee to the fresh bread and goodies in the fridge, to pointing out the most scenic routes, our hosts missed nothing. Wonderful experience

The cottage is beautifully decorated and quite large. Everything you could possibly need is found within, There are some lovely spaces to sit and enjoy the property. The hosts go out of their way to make sure you are happy including leaving you treats on the patio. You can easily walk into Sanitiago do Escoural which is a quiet little town. There are some great restaurants in Montemor O Novo just a 15 minute drive away.. I can highly recommend this property as an exceptionally great place to stay.

Hemos pasado nueve días fantåsticos. La casa y la finca tienen mucho encanto. Cenar, por ejemplo viendo las estrellas ha sido un gran placer. Las fotografías no reflejan lo bonita que es la vivienda, la decoración esmerada y los detalles. Los dueños son maravillosos, muy atentos (a la llegada el frigorífico estaba con los productos båsicos para un par de días) y todas las mañanas nos obsequiaban con una sorpresa. Sin duda, ha sido una buena elección.

The house was equipped with everything that you could wish for (and much more).
