Designer Loft Within Walking Distance to Restaurants, Bars & Beach! Pet Friendly
A former dentist's office in the late 1800's, this unit has been transformed and updated with modern luxuries and a designer touch. No detail overlooked! FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: This unit is located above a really popular restaurant, and while we have made every effort to minimize noise, potential guests should know there is noise (music, voices, conversation) on busy weekends. We have added white noise devices in the sleeping areas. That being said, there is no way for us to fully mitigate the noise from the restaurant.
The Lab Loft (named after the dentist's laboratory door we found in the basement) is an elegant open concept loft with a designer interior, beautiful furnishings, cozy fireplace, 10 ft ceilings, fully outfitted chef's kitchen, huge windows, and spacious bathroom. With the beach just 1 mile away, it's only a 15 minute walk or 5 minute ride on the cruiser bikes we provide to get you to the lakeshore or around town! Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and breweries all within walking distance from the apartment.
THE ENTRANCE: Located on the sidewalk facing Franklin Street, and in between Rocco's Tavern & Cafe Farina. Rocco's Tavern is directly under the apartment. There is keyless entry, and a code for the lock will be provided the day of your arrival, along with other check-in information.
THE SPACE: This unit is located on the 2nd level, so it's not ideal for those who have difficulty managing stars. It's a very spacious 2000 square feet total, so you have plenty room to spread out! The main living room has a wall mounted TV, super cozy fireplace (just flip the switch to ON), comfy leather sofas and chairs, a dining area and additional seating area. There is one bedroom with 2 entrances with barn doors, a family room open to the kitchen (this is where the full size Murphy bed is located), and the large, fully stocked kitchen & laundry. Off the main hallway is the full bath (shower only), clothing storage area, and bicycle storage.
PRIMARY BEDROOM: Queen Nectar memory foam mattress, delightful linens, and 4 pillows. Two lightweight robes are hanging on hooks for your use.
MURPHY BED: Located in the back family room, this sleeping area does not offer privacy. The bed is full size. Linens for this bed are stored in the clothing storage area in the back hallway. If requested, our team can set this bed up for you prior to your arrival, but it is easy to pull down and stow away when not in use.
FAMILY ROOM: This beautiful space acts as a landing spot for those who want to visit the chefs in the kitchen! Two gorgeous original Adrian Pearsall chairs, vintage Danish bookcases, a custom built tall dining table on casters, and a vintage metal table used for the separate workspace area, make this a wonderful spot to hang out in! The Murphy Bed is located in this space. This area also has a small smart TV.
KITCHEN: Bright and spacious with plenty of work surfaces. Fully stocked with all dishes, glassware, cookware, bakeware, toaster, microwave, electric range, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker/coffee pods/tea bags, blender, waffle iron and Instapot. A convenient stainless kitchen island allows for more storage and another work station. The stackable laundry center is located inside a custom closet built in the kitchen.
BATHROOM: Includes a large step-in shower, fluffy cotton towels, and bathroom vanity with a large mirror. A blow dryer, first aid kit, body wash, shampoo & conditioner are also provided.
TECHNOLOGY: Wi-Fi throughout, a 4K Smart TV wall mounted in living room, Smart TV in family room, and Nest thermostat.
ADDITIONAL INFO: For those traveling with small children, this unit's front staircase, as well as the back staircase is accessible and NOT baby proofed! We do not provide child gates, or outlet covers. As previously stated, this unit is located on the 2nd level. There are approximately 20 stairs to ascend to reach the unit. The stairs are located inside the building, with the main entrance being on the sidewalk facing Franklin Street.
There is plenty of free on street parking on Franklin St. (please be aware to look for signs posted for any street closures that may coincide with a festival or parade, in order to avoid ticketing).
We provide 2 cruiser bikes for guests to use. The bikes have accompanying locks. We do not provide helmets, wrist guards or elbow/knee pads. Please be mindful of your own safety, and the safety of your guests, when using the bikes. The bikes are located in the back hallway of the apartment and need to be carried down the stairs in order to be ridden. We unfortunately do not have any street level storage options at this time.
The Lab Loft is within 1 mile from Washington Park Beach & Zoo (there is a fee to park, and also for zoo entry), easy walking distance to a few coffee shops (Fluid, Lakeshore Coffee & Starbucks - located within Lighthouse Mall), many wonderful restaurants (Cafe Farina, Rocco's, Leeds, Fish Camp, Royale with Cheese, Fiddlehead, Shoreline Brewery & Galveston's. The Indiana Dunes National Park is 15 minutes away by car.
