Little Acorn - Sun-Kissed Forest Garden, Emerald

Little Acorn is a compact bluestone studio that sits alongside Little Cherry, sharing an exterior wall but entering through its own private door with nothing else shared. The studio is set up with two king single beds, which gives you the flexibility to keep them separate or push them together depending on the group.

The ensuite is modern and properly done. The kitchenette has a fridge, toaster, kettle, and microwave - everything for slow mornings without needing to leave the property before you are ready. The armchairs face the forest, which is where most of the conversation ends up happening anyway.

The surrounding four acres of bush are open to explore on foot. Kangaroos graze in the yard through the day. The bird life - cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets, rosellas - moves through the canopy at its own pace and is worth sitting still for.

The studio is entirely yours: twin king singles, ensuite, and kitchenette. Your entrance is separate from all other villas on the property. The grounds are shared across the property and open to explore.

Emerald is a quiet hill town with a settled, independent character. The Dandenong Ranges National Park begins almost at the edge of the village, and the walking tracks through Sherbrooke Forest and the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk in Belgrave offer genuine old-growth forest within 20 minutes of the property.

A car is recommended. The Yarra Valley is 30 to 40 minutes by road. Melbourne CBD is approximately one hour. Puffing Billy connects Belgrave to Gembrook via Emerald and is worth at least one trip.

Emerald village is five minutes by car. Good coffee, a pub worth visiting, and the Puffing Billy station for a slow scenic journey through the Ranges. The Yarra Valley cellar doors are 30 to 40 minutes from the property. Healesville in particular has excellent restaurants and a fine selection of wineries within a short radius of each other. The Healesville Sanctuary rounds out a full day if you want one.
