Located just 0.5 miles from the ski lodge, 5 minutes from the indoor waterpark, and 15 minutes from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park, this home is ideally situated for both adventure and relaxation. Start your mornings sipping coffee as the sun rises over the Blue Ridge Mountains, filling the sky with stunning shades of pink and orange.
Updated with new interior furnishings and dĂ©cor for the 2023 season, Dugan’s Dugout comfortably accommodates up to 16 guests. The home sits in a tree-filtered mountainside setting and includes select resort amenity access at no additional cost, making it a fun-filled and memorable escape.

Résumé

Bien située et bien fonctionnelle pour un groupe de 12 personnes, malgré quelques bris mineurs (chaise, barre de soutien de serviette, coffee pot, lumiÚre four) à l'arrivée et BBQ à nettoyer). Excellentes communications et remplacement trÚs rapide de la cafetiÚre lorsque mentionné par courriel.

Ok to stay

Area was great Overall it was ok to stay in the house . As soon as we enter the house it was with full of dust and it was not cleaned and also there was water pressure problem which they addressed after we reported. Major drawback was the drive way from main road to the house and this was not mentioned in the website. The driveway was so bad that one of our car could not move up and because of bad road .

The property (house is old). That is not an issue but we had to search to find towels, the front room funiture was very uncomfortable, basic cooking items were not there (simple baking sheet, dishwasher did not work(we turned it on and it ran but there was no water and at the end the dishes were dirty, oven temperature did not hold, it was all over the place. Other than these few inconvienances we had a great time.

Location was great

The bar b q was great. That was where it all ended. The beds were very uncomfortable, there were no lamps in the bedrooms so it was blaring lights or total darkness, there were no night stands, the king bed was literally broken and could not be used, the furniture was very old and dingy. The kitchen is quite small and the appliances are from 1980. We could not even fit our trays in it and all the knobs are worn off so you are hoping you turn it on. There was not nearly enough furniture for the number of people there. The place was filthy. We stayed during the highest priced weekend as it was JMU graduation. Now let's talk about the driveway. Not until the final email was sent did we find out that it could be inaccessible in bad weather and that they recommend a 4 wheel drive. We would not have rented this place if we had known that prior to booking. The location was great for JMU events but there is no view and no chairs to sit out on the upper deck. I truly can not say enough to sway you to NOT select this unit.

Our Stay

Property Manager, TripForth, was very prompt at addressing questions and issues before and during our stay. Home could use a major maintenance overhaul and repairs. But provided all we needed. The carpet is very stained, as others have reported. I agree the carpet should be cleaned, but I also feel that folks staying in the home should respect the property and try to be more careful and try to clean up spills as they occur - this could help. The sleep sofa could not be used for as a bed, as it has no mattress. Until this is resolved, I don't believe the sleep count should be adjusted. Fortunately, we were not counting on using it, but the others may be.

Family Fun Getaway

We had a great time! There were many activities to do and enjoy and fit for all ages. From the hiking, swimming, playing tennis and pickle, going to the water park and sightseeing, we all had a blast. The house was a perfect size for our 13 people with plenty of space to rest, relax and enjoy each other’s company.

This was a roomy, comfortable house with plenty of space for a family. Several things of note: although the description describes an inclining driveway, it doesn't say that the driveway is crumbling and has pot holes, making the uphill drive difficult and hard on your car. Inside, the carpet is terribly stained all throughout the house. Although the house appeared clean, I had to pick up dead bugs on the floor.

The facility worked for us. We dragged furniture in from the screened porch to augment the meager offering in the living room. Bedrooms were good and so were bathrooms. The shampoo/soaps/etc were "starter packs" as described by property manager and we went to the store to add to them. The location was great!

Weekend getaway

The outside and layout of this property was great. However, it’s was dirty and old smelling. The quilted blankets, pillow cases, carpet, walls, headboard, and outside furniture were stained. I understand wear and tear on the outside furniture but when there’s visibly dried food, that’s a problem. The pillowcase I was about to lay my head on had orange sauce stains. The carpet had heavy and visible stains on it as well. I don’t understand what the cleaning fees are for if we had to start a load of towels, strip the beds, and remove all trash from the home. That was unsettling. This property would be a lot better if the 70’s/80’s furniture and appliances are replaced with newer ones. Also the cleaning must be completed properly!

Good location, dirty kitchen

The kitchen and hall closet had mouse droppings. The carpet through the house was full of stains. The kitchen was not adequately equipped- no spatula, only one dish towel, few utensils, and no mixing bowls, for example. Mouse poop in kitchen pots and pans. Several dishes were put away dirty. We were really surprised by this. The house itself is a nice space but the kitchen is not. The rooms are well sized and had basic furnishings. The living room is a nice gathering space. The location was great and the best part of the rental was access to the fitness centers. Kitchen and carpet needs to be deep cleaned.
