— ARRIVAL —
Pass through our striking 8-foot rustic tropical hardwood gates and the world disappears. The first thing you see stops you completely: the curved wave-topped pool wall painted with a breathtaking panoramic Caribbean beach scene — swaying painted palms, a charming beach cottage, tropical birds in flight, turquoise painted ocean — a paradise painted to mirror the real paradise waiting just beyond it. On the poolside of the wall, a golden-haired mermaid riding painted waves. Follow the garden path through wild bougainvillea and the jaguar mural appears — life-size, vivid, and completely unexpected. The property spans 40m wide by 58m deep: a wild, lush tropical landscape of mature palms and white sand. Parking for up to 4 vehicles.
— THE BEACH —
120 feet of your own private Caribbean beach awaits. White sand, coconut palms leaning heavy with green coconuts, and water that shifts from aquamarine to jade to deep sapphire as it reaches the reef. Warm, calm, and shallow to about 6 feet just 50–80 feet from shore. Beach loungers, hammocks, and chairs are set up and waiting. The outdoor shower is right there when you come back in.

The oceanfront pool sits right on the beach behind its magnificent curved privacy wall — hand-painted with a panoramic tropical beach scene and a glorious golden-haired mermaid riding the waves. Lounge chairs and a built-in bench run along the wall. Float in the pool while watching the real Caribbean just beyond.

The main house is warm, colourful and alive with personality. Arched picture windows frame the Caribbean like a living painting from the dining room and living area — golden yellow walls, colourful Mexican woven throws, ceiling fans, and hand-painted tropical bird murals throughout the screened lanai where you'll spend your mornings with coffee and the sound of the ocean. The Master Suite has a king bed and a queen bed, both beneath a stunning hand-painted tropical mural — warm, vivid and alive — covering the wall above you as you sleep. Wake up to ocean views from the bed. A dedicated workspace for those who need to stay connected. The Toucan Room has a queen bed beneath a gorgeous large-format painting of a toucan perched in tropical jungle leaves — warm terracotta tile floors, matching lamps, dark wood nightstands, a personal sink and mirror inside the room, and its own private bathroom right next door. The third room is
semi-private, separated from the living area by a half wall — perfect for families or flexible groups. The fully equipped kitchen has Talavera tile details, gas range, full refrigerator, a wooden island with bar seating, and a sliding door straight out to the palms. The dining table seats 6 with the Caribbean framed in arched windows right in front of you. BBQ grill, Starlink WiFi, smart TV, and a full suite of water toys — kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear, boogie boards.

Two private king-bed suites, each with its own private tiled bathroom with stone pebble shower floor and air conditioning, open onto a generous partially covered terrace — part open to the warm Caribbean sky, part shaded — with a beautiful screened tropical pergola as the outdoor lounge and dining area. A spectacular live-edge hardwood dining table anchors the space. Teak chairs and seating look out over bougainvillea in hot pink and yellow, palms, and the ocean beyond. The outdoor kitchenette has a microwave, coffee maker, two-burner electric stove, and mini fridge — everything you need for easy meals without leaving your private terrace. Sea breezes drift through constantly. The sound of the ocean never leaves.
— STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN —
Our curved rose-pink stairway — lovingly designed by our husband and hand-built — rises from a decorative mosaic landing surrounded by bougainvillea and winds its way to the very top of the palm trees. Step out onto the rooftop and the Caribbean opens up in every direction. Cool pale tiles, warm and soft underfoot in the sunshine. Multiple colourful woven hammocks hang from the dark tropical hardwood pergola, casting beautiful striped shadows across the deck. A built-in daybed bench with cushions runs along the wave-topped wall. The turquoise Caribbean stretches to the horizon. The inland lagoon shimmers to one side. Birds glide past at eye level — so close you feel you could reach out and touch them. The sun rises clean out of the ocean at dawn, painting the sky in fire. At night the stars over the Caribbean are extraordinary. Once you've been up here, you'll understand everything about Castaway Palms.
— THE REEF & OCEAN —
The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — second largest in the world at 600 miles long — lies just 200 feet offshore. Snorkel, free-dive, kayak, paddleboard, or simply wade out and watch the fish beneath your feet.
To the south, 500 metres away, is a famous fly-fishing spot for permit, bonefish, triggerfish and jacks. Spearfishing is world-class — bring your gear and ask the owners about the honey hole. A freshwater lagoon nearby adds world-class fishing to the mix.
— OFF-GRID COMFORT —
The entire estate runs on a whole-house solar system with full electricity backup. The Caribbean trade winds keep things cool and fresh nearly every day of the year. Air conditioning is available throughout. Fresh rainwater cistern with UV filtration for clean drinking water. Beach massage can be arranged before arrival — ask the owners, she is amazing. A weekly fresh food truck brings local produce, fruit, eggs and meats.
Mahahual town is 15km south for restaurants, supplies and day trips. Taxi to and from the airport available.
