This is not, has never been and never will be a 5* hotel, but for the price I paid I didn't mind that it didn't live up to the advertised rating. It's clear that money was spent on the property when it first opened, the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality, but look rather tired now. There are some nice extras like luxury toiletries (Elemis), plus a fruit bowl and biscuits to go with hot drinks. I'd stay here again if the price was favourable.

Lovely comfortable Montcalm room.

Free fruit and water were a bonus. Excellent and courteous staff throughout. Room large and well appointed. With bath and shower over. Comfortable stay.

perfect & romantic stay for couple

absolutely perfect stay. we had a two level studio with two bathrooms - plenty of space with everything we could wish for. super clean, friendly staff - what can I say: 5/5.

Prima verblijf

Voor een weekendje Londen was iets meer naar het centrum wat gezelliger geweest maar ons verblijf in dit hotel was prima voor elkaar. Restaurant in het hotel een aanrader. Ontbijt was erg prijzig. Verder een dikke 8.

Unexpected service for London

We had a great stay in the Montcalm. Our first experience of the great service was being met by a member off staff outside the hotel, who took our bags and escorted us to reception. We only stayed the one night. The room was very well equipped, although because of the nature of the renovated brewery, was hard to find. We did get lost in the hotel when we returned that night but a member of staff politely escorted us back to our room. The only complaint i would have is the cost of the breakfast.

Itching to help you!

Came here with my partner as we was looking for somewhere central to stay so we could go to the o2 and a few drinks afterwards, not being so educated on London i thought this hotel was a lotr more reachable then it was. All of that downfall was overruled by the staff and hotel, they devoted every second to making sure you were comfortable and enjoying your stay which made the whole 5* experience become real. Nice touches like fruit in your room, even the tea and coffee mugs were smart! Would definitely stay here again.

Nice entry level 5 Star hotel with everything you would expect!

We stayed here on a Friday night recently and were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from Moorgate Station and the main entrance is tucked on the inside of archway so can be easy to miss. The lobby had a very nice simplistic but classy décor. Our room was a very large generous size with a large high bed, desk, comfy chairs, wardrobe etc. There was also a large widescreen TV, with some sophisticated looking audio equipment underneath it (which we never used) an iPod dock radio alarm system, tea/ coffee making facilities and a large bowl of very nice fruit which was delicious! The bed itself was extremely comfortable, although there was no headboard, but plenty of pillows and cushions. Finally, the bathroom was very retro looking with both a bathtub and a rain shower – although the shower pressure wasn’t particularly great. There were also 2 pairs of really comfy bathroom slippers and a selection of soaps, lotions etc provided. Overall I would recommend this hotel although this would be at the lower end of 5 star restaurants.
